This Holiday Inn is well located. It is close to Gasteig in Munich, next to the Deutsches Museum. A walk to downtown, Marienplatz, is about 15 minutes.
The rooms are normal for a Holiday Inn. They are clean and okay, but also nothing special. All in all a solid hotel for business trips to Munich or short vacation stays to discover the city.
The hotel is rather big with many rooms. This leads to the only disadvantage: there are pretty long queues for check in and check out as mentioned in other reviews. The hotel should consider streamlining this process or having more staff available.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by psycdoc great location and service
Arrived at hotel on Friday morning at 11 am, while waiting to check-in a very friendly concierge approached my wife, with city map in hand and asked if she could answer any questions about Munich. As this was our first time here, her help was appreciated. With-in minutes of arriving I was greeted by very friendly staff. We were able to check-in, however we had to wait 90 minutes for our room to be ready. This was not a problem, as it gave us a chance to walk to the nearby market.
We had an upgraded room on the 9th floor overlooking Old Town Munich. The room was spacious, and was very comfortable.
The hotel location is great, it is only a few minute walk to the subway station, which is attached to the hotel via an underground shopping mall. It is also only a 10-15 minute walk to the historic part of Munich.
I found the staff at this hotel to be some of the most friendly and courteous hotel staff that I have ever met. (I stay at over 175 hotels per year) Thanks for the great experience.

Holiday Inn, Munich city center is a good option for business traveler. Location is excellent and is within the S bahn (Rosenhiemer Plats station) complex with connectivity to every corner of the city. Hotel itself is very good with nice rooms and good breakfast.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by boj2506 Nice room
I stayed two nights at this hotel. The check in procedure was really slow and there was no fast lane for priority guest, so it took a while before I got my room and it was same situation when checking out.
The service from the staff was substandard, and below my expectations.
So basically I had a bed to sleep in but nothing more. However the room was clean, nice and spacious, but even so the hotel is really overpriced compared to what you get.
I will only stay there if there are no other alternatives.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by skeezsue Great & convenient Location but everything else is NOT so great!
We pre-booked & prepaid for our 3 nights' stay at this property online but when we got to the hotel to check in after 2, we were told that our room was not yet ready. They lady who checked us told us to wait at the lobby bar and she would come get us when our room is ready. She also gave us a couple of complimentary drink tickets for our wait. We waited and waited and after 2 hours, I went to the front desk to ask if our room was ready, and the lady said yes but she was busy handling other guests who were checking in so she didn't get our key-cards processed yet. We proceeded to wait another 15 minutes or so for her to come to us with our keys but still no sign of her. So, finally we went to her again, and this time she gave us our key card. We went up to our room and guess what, the key card didn't work. So we had to come back down again, and wait for another 10 minutes or so for someone to give us a keycard which works!!! Anyways, by the time we managed to get into our room was past 5pm!!! Our room had a nice view, so that was finally a plus!!!
In the room, we wanted to use the mini-bar fridge but it was full, We bought a cream cake to celebrate our friend's birthday and wanted to keep it chilled but it was one of those fridges with motion detectors to stop you from removing items in it. Anyways, i tried to call the house keeping to have them empty out the fridge but multiple calls to housekeeping went unanswered. We finally gave up. When a guy came by to distribute ONE small bottle of water to each room (why one bottle and not two????) at about 630pm, I asked him to help us contact housekeeping. He got them on the phone with his cell phone and I spoke to them asking them to clear out our mini fridge. They said ok, but yet they never came around to do it. Service is just ridiculous at this point!!!
There were 6 of us meeting in Munich for a birthday celebration weekend. We occupied 3 rooms. Two of our rooms had a nice view of the city. The 3rd couple, upon checking in was told how lucky they were as they would get a room with a view and free wifi. Anyways, when they got to their room, they had a view of the garbage disposal and collection center!! And it stinks when they had their window open! they were also almost charged for their wifi upon checking out.
So, hotel staff is pretty lousy. sure it's a big hotel with hundreds of rooms and the reception seems to be always busy handling guests... reprogramming new key cards that seem to stop working every so often!!
but location wise, it is super convenient.....
would we go back, if we were lazy to look online for hotels with better locations, we will probably grit out teeth as we check back into this hotel in munich.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Philtops Winter Time Challenges
I always like the Rosenheimer Platz Holiday Inn as a very convenient business friendly place to stay in Munich. Right on top of the subway, grocery store, and quick restaurants like Subway, it is very easy to take care of yourself.
On this trip, the winter temperatures kept the heat pumping in the hotel and there was not much you could do to lower the temp in your room. Even with the thermostat off and the windows vented, it was tough to sleep at night. Usually you are able to open the windows fully so it is a quick cool down but no luck on this trip as the window locks were turned for the winter, I guess.
A last complaint is that the instant you check out, the WIFI disconnects. This can be annoying when you still have time to kill in the hotel before a pick up. Most places I stay, let your access continue through the midnight timeout.

Very busy hotel. Checki-n and check-out try your patience. So does availability of breakfast tables... The hotel restaurant turned out to be closed during advertised hours. Food at the bar turnmed out great thought!
The room turned out the same good standard as I expect from Holiday Inn.
Parking is plentiful and the hotel is conveniently located close to the center of town.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Alshava Neither so excited about this hotel nor will go there again!
First, as a Platinum member, I was neither recognized nor felt any add-value for being a Platinum member ..... Second, I asked for a king size bed and they gave a two twin bed room ... I complained and I was given a normal room (no upgrade) ...
Breakfast was not a big deal but ok ....
Anyway, I do not think I will go again to this hotel ....

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by chipdocs2 Platinum Elite not many perks
While the location was great and ease to S Bahn was easy to tour the city the only thing I felt lacking here was the cost of the breakfast. There were no perks as a discounted breakfast for Platinum Elite status. 25 Euro for a wonderful breakfast but my wife was also charged 25 Euro for a bowl of fruit and piece of toast. Was charged as she didn't come down with me as she wanted to sleep in. 50 euro for breakfast each morning is costly especially when most all other Holiday Inns provide either a free or discounted price for breakfast. This was the only disappointment in this property as they looked up my information to charge me upon entering the dining area so they should have easily seen the platinum status. Might try a different hotel to see if this is any better on next trip.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Munich Explorer Gemütlich aber laut
I very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel. it has a perfect, central location; the price is exceptional.
The room service and staff were very lovely and the breakfast buffet was really worth the price when one can eat a large amount in the morning.
Unfortunately the fan in the single room was on all night, and the reception said they could not turn it off. This was too bad as the room would have been wonderful. The internet in the part of the hotel I was in also only worked sometimes when turned off and on and for the price, this should have been more reliable. The desk was informed and this will be checked.
All in all, if these two problems were fixed, a really nice stay, what one expects from the holiday inn and more-- the bar on the ground floor was excellent and stylish-- unexpected but a great touch!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by cris150 Great location, minor issues
The location was great, very close to Rosenheimer Platz. It tooks about 40 minutes to get to the airport. Unfortunately, we ended up at an exit not so close to the hotel and had to walk for a bit. But it was great it was so close to Marienplatz and you could just walk to get there. Also, Hochstrasse is a great street and I recommend it for an evening walk.
We were put in a room on the sixth floor and had a very nice view to the Gasteig. The room was pretty big compared to other Holiday Inn hotels; there was a small table with a sofa chair, a pretty large desk with a flat TV, a big dresser, coffee and tea amenities. It was pretty clean, no big complaints there, although there was some dust on the notepad and telephone.
There was something weird in the bathroom though. There were some weird red stains on the bathroom floor, which I mistakenly believed it was blood and I tried to clean it because it wasn't very aesthetic. But it smeared and I think it was red paint. Also, I think there was a leak somewhere because if you showered for a long time, the floor would be pretty wet.
The breakfast was pretty good. I loved that they had olives and a great selection of cheeses. The staff isn't very proactive. One morning, one of the coffee machines malfunctioned, constantly pouring hot water. One of the staff members walked by it, noticed its behavior, but instead of powering off and on again, she just refilled the coffee beans and left pouring hot water. I mean, come on, it's not working, get someone to make it work. Refilling it while no one can use it is not professional.
Also, I didn't like the fact that they ask you to leave at 10:30. I know that breakfast is served between 6:30 and 10:30, but that usually means you have to arrive between that hours, and not leave at 10:30 sharp. That's the way it is in other Holiday Inns.
The lounge serves good food, I really enjoyed it and it's not very expensive. I recommend the burgers as they are pretty juicy. They also have a good selection of drinks at the bar. There are also quite a few restaurants close to the hotel that have excellent food: Gast, which is across the hotel; a cheap sushi place I forgot its name, Goa, an indian restaurant.
The staff was pretty ok, some speak English better than others. We had a problem with the room cards. They deactivated 2 times and we didn't really get a good explanation from the staff at the reception, except that they are very sensitive to electronics (?). Never happened to cards in another Holiday Inns.
Overall, it was a good experience and most of the issues can be overlooked because the location is really good.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by tkb69 Wonderful stay in HI Munich
Very central located with 10 min. walk to the German Museum. Lobby is nice and the bar well sorted. Excellent breakfast one of the best I have experienced and I am traveling throughout the year in various hotels. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Very good location for family as the hotel offers rooms connected with a door. Staff is very friendly towards children which is not often the case in Germany and with hotel staff. Parking is 20€/day expensive but on weekends parking is free along the street. WLAN in room should be standard today and included in the rate or at least free WiFi in the lobby to obtain information - a negative point to mention. The mattress are quite soft and back pain as a result but this is individual.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sincitytraveler Comfort, convenience, location and Affordable!
I was very pleased with my recent stay at this hotel. It couldn't have been any easier or more convenient to get to/from the airport by taking the S8 metro to rosenheimer platz. You can access the hotel from directly inside the train station which has a supermarket and many shops! The lobby is inviting and has a nice pub and meeting areas. Our room was good size and comfortable beds. I never got to use the pool/spa but this is a nice feature as well. The hotel is also a very short walk or tram ride to many other Munich attractions. The only thing that I found slightly lacking friendliness of one hotel front desk staff who seemed to appear bothered when we asked some questions about getting around the local area. Everyone else was very nice and helpful. Overall this is a great hotel and nice value!

The staff are excellent, the food is superb, the beer is ... what one expects in Germany - PERFECTION. This hotel is in a terrific location close to everything; walking distance to the underground light rail and ample shopping - even groceries - if one is so inclined. We truly enjoyed our two nights in Munich and certainly hope to return.

Staff were very helpful and assisted greatly with our outings around Munich. Helped sort out shortfalls in our city tours then set out details for how we could use the underground which is very handily placed in the lower levels of the hotel. We had troubles with lost possessions when we left the hotel but this was quickly sorted out by the hotel staff with great efficiency. The staff were exceptional in our stay.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bobby D Good location without spending the earth.
Overall this hotel is a good choice for being a short walk from the old town withoout spending the extra that any hotels located within the old town centre cost. It's only a tem ninute walk.
Comfortable beds in clean rooms, a swimming pool and a good quality bar make this hotel a good choice for those looking for a few little luxuries without spending the earth. Taxis are always available out front and there is also a 24hr shop in the garage next door for late night supplies (if room service isn't your thing). One thing this hotel has as a unique added bonus is it's own station (Rosenheimerplatz) accessable without having to step out onto the street. The trains go direct to the airport.

Besides that there is a pool and friendly stuff at the hotel bar all the rest was not worth a recommendation. Sorry.
Stuff at breakfast couldn´t even smile, it was loud within the breakfast room and all seems like a crowded hall of a railway station.
The rest- and changing rooms at the swimming pool have been dirty, The lockers didn´t work, the pool area was not clean as well. (as at my stay in this hotel before).
The mini bar was not refilled after having some drinks the first night.
I already have reserved a room for mid January. I think this will be the last time there.

I had the opportunity to spend some time at the Holiday Inn Munich-City Centre from the 23 thru 27 December 2013. First of all the location is excellent you are a 10 min walk away from the center of the city, or you can just walk downstairs and use the subway public transport system, which is just two stops from the center of town. The atmosphere is magnifiicent it was oriented for adults and kids at the same time. The waiters and the personnel are first class, freindly, attentive and extremely helpful. They have an under ground parking which is a little expensive but no more than the rest in the area and defintely worth every penny if have to find a place downtown. The hotel is easy to access to and from all major autobahn and primary highways. I prefer to drive to the tourist sites but they are all reachable via subway or railway and having a station right underneath the grounds is nice. Rooms are nicely decored, nice size and clean. The food is excellent although a little on the high end. Meals in any restaurant will cost half of what it is in the hotel but I recommend you treat yourself to at least one dinner there, the cooks are very original. The underground levels provides access to the subway system, some fast food restaurants, a supermarket (HIT) and other stores. I found it to be a great spot and recommend it with 4 of 5 stars. For those traveling in Europe associated with the military or US government they will accept your VAT exemption paperwork. I also got a 10% discount for being a member so definetly try it out. Auf Wierdershen!

Location is great and having the subway right there is even better. The shops on the way to the subway even include a market. 99% of the staff is great. Breakfast was good but a little high priced. The food at the bar is really good and the price is reasonable. The bar staff is great. The benches outside are a nice waiting place. The Christmas decor was very very well done.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Good Overall, but...
Overall I can recommend this hotel as good to excellent, but two things brought the score down.
1. The day cover of one of the beds had blood on it and was not changed, so after two days my wife gave it back to one of the staff who did not seem to be able to speak German or English and we never got a replacement.
2. On the last day we requested a breakfast box because we had to leave very early, but in comparison to the normally excellent breakfast it was terrible. Two halves of stale white bread sandwiches, one with one slice of packet cheese the other with one slice of packet ham, a yogurt, tangerine and a twix bar, thrown together with the minimum amount of effort. Only the yogurt and tangerine were edible and even at the special rate for breakfast was very poor value.
Balancing up these negative points the staff at reception, the lounge bar and restaurant were excellent.
