Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay Our room was clean and ready and exactly where we asked. Towels are comfy and bed linens are really good. Room service awesome, lobby nice, cookies & all, everyone helpful. Newspaper at our door every morning! Just wish they'd change the carpet more often as there are stains and it's damp. Otherwise, great location, free parking!! and overall nice. October 6, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Decent hotel, excellent location, excellent staff, price too high I am a platinum member and stay at IHG properties all over the country. The hotel staff was exceptionally great in every way as are most of the folks we met in Nashville so it is difficult to say anything negative. The complaint I have is that the room rate for what I would consider a 3-star property was excessive. It may have been that it was a busy weekend, but in a place like Nashville I would think every weekend has something going on and the hotels are booked frequently. For the price paid, I would expect something exceptional, and unfortunately the room was mediocre. The bathroom was small, the ceiling had cracked plaster that was separated from the ceiling, the water pressure was not good, the shower curtain rod could at least have had a curve to it, there was no place in the room to secure valuables, the restaurant / bar closed early at 11PM, wall outlets were few and far between. On the positive side, the shuttle service and driver is great, the area has a sports bar that is open late so you are not shut out if you want a nightcap, the surrounding area is wonderful with lots to do, the hotel and rooms are clean, the morning buffet is pretty good, the TV and selection are good, the beds are comfortable, there is a small balcony that you don't see at hotels very often anymore and most important the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff including the management makes up for the mediocre room quality. Bottom line is you will enjoy your stay here but watch out for that big bill. October 4, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A hotel needs to be remodeled. The hotel staff is very kind but the room is really old and out of style. The moment we walked into the room, we can sense the bad smell in the air. The air conditioner is in the room makes a lot of noises that makes you hard to sleep. The hanger behind the door is falling. The tub has a lot of ripping scratch. We stayed there for 3 nights and the last day before we checked out, the room service person knocked on your door at 8:30 AM because they wanted to clean the room. The only pro for this hotel is the location that is near the Vanderbilt University. October 4, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Service Great service, clean hotel, convenient location. Need to replace double beds with queens. Beginning to look dated October 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It was only one night but it was a great one. Loved the room and the view. The towels folded to look like swans were a hoot. The music in the restaurant was beautiful and the food was good. Staff was exceptional with the exception of one older gentleman who was manning the front desk early in the morning and was rather abrupt and not very informative. Restaurant could use more staff in the morning but our overworked waiter was a joy. If I ever get the chance I would stay again. October 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Reservations Tiffany (who took my reservations) was extremely helpful and pleasant to work with. The front desk at check-in was completely capable and quite good! The room was clean and comfortable! I would recommend it to anyone! September 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Insignifigant sacrifices for location Stayed here two times, 9 nights total, with two more reservations booked. This hotel as been made-over and it can be detected if you look close. The rooms are nice, comfortable and I love the bed comfort. The staff has been hands-down amazing; professional and polite. There are other hotels closer to Vandy but this one is the best value and, were talking one-three blocks closer, not miles. Free parking is not to be ignored! September 30, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by No breakfast Everything was nice, but I wouldn't have minded a breakfast bar. September 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location & relaxing enviroment... My husband & I were passing thru on vacation and this was the perfect place to stay. Great location, clean, very confortable, relaxing, very knowledgeable staff and free parking. Love the bar area & listening to the LIVE Music !!! Highly recommend the Ruth's Chris Steakhouse located just down the street for a fabulous dinner. We would difinitely stay again. September 25, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Location Great Location with a freindly staff and free parking but disappointed with the room we were given. It was a handicap room with a very small bed (full size maybe) and very cramped. If we had been staying more than one night I would've requested a room change. The staff was very friendly and the room was neat and clean. I absolutely loved the shuttle service provided and the driver was extremely nice. I would definately recommend this hotel to others but specify that you do not want a handicap room. September 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by early check in convienience Upon arrival I was told that check in was 3pm but my party was at 3 so I needed my room early to get ready. The lady behind the desk was very accomadating and told me that if they have available rooms I was good to go. I was in by 11:30 with lots of time to spare. I would recommend this hotel for the staff and the rooms not to mention the nice pool and it's a few blocks from the all the sights and sounds of Nashville. i will definitely stay here again! September 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and great service We arrived very late and was greeted at the front desk by a cheerful young lady. She was very informative and helpful. Our room was awesome and very comfortable. Thank y'all for a great time. September 10, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by THE PROPERTY WAS MISREPRESENTED FORGIVE ME, BUT I AM A SMOKER. WHEN I BOOKED THE ROOM THROUGH 1-800-HOLIDAY, I WAS TOLD THE ROOMS WERE NON-SMOKING, HOWEVER EACH ROOM HAD A BALCONY WITH CHAIRS TO SIT ON AND YOU COULD SMOKE OUT THERE. BY THE WAY, THERE WERE NO CHAIRS ON ANY OF THE BALCONIES EITHER!! THAT WAS FALSE INFORMATION, IF YOU GET CAUGHT SMOKING ON THE BALCONY, OR BY THE WAY, GET CAUGHT WITH A PET (WE DIDN'T HAVE ONE WITH US) YOU WILL BE FINED $200!!!!! TWICE WHILE THERE, I SAW PEOPLE SMOKING ON THE BALCONY! AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THEY GOT FINED I DO NOT KNOW BUT IF THEY FIND A CIGARETTE BUTT ON YOUR BALCONY YOU ARE AUTOMATICALLY CHARGED $200 ON YOUR CREDIT CARD! I HAD BOOKED THE ROOM IN ADVANCE AS IT WAS LABOR DAY WEEKEND AND WANTED TO MAKE SURE WE HAD A NICE PLACE TO STAY IN NASHVILLE. UPON CHECKING IN I FOUND OUT ABOUT THESE RULES, I IMMEDIATELY ASKED IF I COULD BE MOVED TO ANOTHER HOLIDAY INN IN THE AREA, THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY WITH ROOMS AVAILABLE ON SATURDAY SO WE HAD TO WAIT UNTIL SUNDAY TO MOVE TO HOLIDAY INN/NASHVILLE/ OPRYLAND/AIRPORT WHERE THEY OFFER SMOKING ROOMS AND HAPPEN TO BE LOCATED MUCH CLOSER TO THE THINGS WE WANTED TO SEE. THE SERVICE HERE HAS BEEN FABULOUS AND THE ROOMS ARE VERY NICE. BY THE WAY AT THE ORIGINAL PROPERTY THEY DID HAVE A SMOKING GAZEBO LOCATED IN THE HOTEL PARKING LOT. A LONG WAYS FROM YOUR ROOM WHEN YOU ARE STAYING ON THE 9TH FLOOR. FOR NON-SMOKERS AND PEOPLE WITHOUT PETS THE LOCATION WOULD BE FINE BUT IT WAS NOT FOR ME ESPECIALLY SINCE I REQUESTED A SMOKING ROOM. THE PROPERTY HAS BEEN NON-SMOKING FOR OVER TWO YEARS, YOU WOULD THINK 1-800-HOLIDAY WOULD KNOW THAT!! SINCERELY, KRISTY September 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I enjoyed my stay, however The specialty coffee shop was never open even when the person was sitting there reading the paper. WOW! But everything else was delightful. September 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Staff Brillient All the staff were great and very helpful especially the shutle bus driver. The hotel was well situated and the added benefit of a free shutle bus made things so easy for us. September 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by They were prepared Surprised to discover a room available at practically the last minute although price was double for the night of the ball game. Staff was friendly and helpful, prepared for the crowd. The only blemish was housekeeping knocking on door at 8 am to see if we had checked out. It was a rare occasion that I was sleeping in. Great experience otherwise. We were allowed to check our bags while we explored Centennial Park after check out as well. A phone charger was left in the room and a call back two days later confirmed that it had been found and arrangements were made to mail it back to me. Staff was most friendly. And helpful. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Breakfast Staff Not Very Helpful Once we sat down for the buffet the waitress never came back to refill water or coffee. This happened 3 of the 4 mornings. September 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by easy access to univ., nice staff Was there on business during a football game, and the place was packed with folks from Misssissippi. Under load/stress I thought the staff held up very well. Van driver was great (they haul you around within 3 miles). Breakfast blah (standard HI food trough - which would of gone better if they offered eggs cooked to order rather than the pasturized stuff). September 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome We keep coming back to the same hotel. Clean, modern, great location, and the staff is so welcoming and caring. September 1, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for a family with teenagers As a mum with 3 teenagers this hotel was perfect as it meant we could enjoy fantastic entertainment by some amazing singer/songwriters whilst enjoying good food. Many of the places downtown specify over 21 to get in so we had the best of both worlds with the Commodore on site. Loved it thankyou August 31, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean, comfortable, very personable service I haven't stayed at a Holiday Inn in many years and was blown away with his property. Updated. Modern. Clean. Great location. Great service! August 30, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for a Vandy weekend This is a great location to stay while visiting Vanderbilt University. The property is clean and comfortable with a very helpful staff. I visit Vanderbilt a few times a year and have stayed at other hotels, but chose this one for the location and value. A huge plus is Songwriter's night nearly every night in the Commodore Grille. It's great to come back after an evening out and have live music right in your hotel. Even if you don't stay at this property, come to a Songwriter's Night! August 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Place to Stay and Enjoy Nashville Great staff. Friendly and outgoing. Always greeted with a smile. The Shuttle service to Midtown and Broadway is a great way to get around without the hassle of parking. The Commodore Bar has live music. I am able to attend Vanderbilt sporting events by walking out the back door. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Nashville. August 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The staff is top notch. Efficient, friendly, answering all our needs. What a wonderful stay we had for our family and wedding guests this past weekend in town for our daughter's wedding. The Holiday Inn (Vanderbilt) does a fabulous job of being professional, efficient, polite, observant, while maintaining a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. We could not have been happier. We enjoyed our rooms, the pool, fitness center, the lobby...and the great walkable neighborhood close to so many things. A+ to all the staff and management. You do a superb job!! August 29, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love the pillows The pillows are amazing and I will be buying the same brand. The lobby is very modern but the rooms are out dated. I was expecting a little more modern based on the look of the lobby. The shuttle to downtown was great and convienant. This was our first trip to Nashville and I would stay here again. August 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay!!! Would recommend. Cons: Rooms are a little dated. This was our second stay at this particular hotel and it was consistent with the first. Great staff, clean room, excellent location. You feel safe in the area and there's lots of interesting shops within walking distance. The internet worked good - which is a huge plus. The only cons I can mention (which weren't deal breakers) are... the rooms are a bit dated, not enough plugs for all of the modern devices people carry with them. You can hunt for plugs, but they're hidden behind large pieces of furniture. Oh and the throw-back sliding door to the bathroom from 1970s should be replaced. It's actually too heavy for kids to close. My last gripe... with Priority Rewards Club you are supposed to be able to have a 2pm checkout time. They said they ran out of these checkout times and could only give us a 1pm.... this is a bit dishonest / lame. August 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Incredibly kind staff, great deal This hotel is located close enough to downtown that it's easy to cab around or take the free shuttle. Parking is free, so in addition to the rooms being less expensive, you also save there as well. Relatedly, the hotel is close to the airport (<15 min. drive that's very straightforward). Finally, the staff is very, very kind and the rooms are quite nice--each with their own little balcony. August 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Southern Hospitality at its finest! We were moving our daughter into Vanderbilt University after a long drive from Philadelphia, PA. Greeted with friendly staff, room was clean and comfortable - a wonderful place to rest our heads before the move-in! We will DEFINITELY come back to this Holiday Inn specifically whenever we are in Nashville! August 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Place for School This was a great place to stay during my block schedule at Vandy. I will definitely consider this location in the future. I had hoped there would be more outlets in the room, but I was definitely able to function and keep things charged. The staff were extremely friendly and I was always met with a smile. All of my questions were sufficiently answered. There is also a coffee bar in the lobby! Thanks for making my first week in Nashville comfortable! August 27, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tiny room and musty I have never had a room so small there was no room to put a suitcase valet. Our bags had to sit on the floor in the only floor space. Shuttle was great to downtown and the shower water pressure was good. The room seemed to be clean but musty. Free parking was nice August 26, 2013
