They assisted us with our friends and the restaurant bill to be charged to the room. The room is brand new and very well furnished for a traveler - microwave & fridge. The rooms are spacious, nicely appointed and very comfortable (my daughter loved the pillows). The staff at the hotel have always been extremely courteous and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel. It is within walking distance to downtown, and only a two mile drive to Connecticut College, where our son attends school. This area has a shortage of good, affordable hotels. Tables not cleared, floor not particularly clean, service inadequate and atmosphere just dreadful. Not conducive to eating 'in house'. F & B should be excellent, but was the worst I have come across in any hotel. Not surprising the dining room only had three tables filled when we visited and three couples walked out! The restaurant brought the whole of the hotel down, as reception was efficient and welcoming, the rooms good and the location of the hotel good. October 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best hotel stay I've ever had! This was by far the BEST stay I have ever had at a hotel! The Holiday Inn in New London, CT was the cleanest hotel at which I've ever stayed. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I stayed at this hotel two weekends ago and I have already booked my next stay! Because of my train arrival, I had a special request to check-in at 6 am instead of 3 pm and they were able to honor my request at no additional charge. The location is perfect for travelers because it is very close to the Amtrak station! This was the most positive and pleasant experience. I would highly recommend it! October 21, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by It's ok for the money Room was clean and comfortable. Large bathroom. Some kind of party or function in the hotel one night left no plce to park. Cars were parked in the grass and in the lanes. Restaurant was terrible. Bad service when we actually got it. Waitress brought me the wrong food which I didn't notice at first as I was attending to my child. Waitress never checked on us so I couldn't tell her I got the wrong meal. Hotel was ok for the money. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great service. We received excellent service from the front desk and the staff overall. The only issue we had was we were not able to use the dining room. We waited for several minutes to be seated at a table and were never approached by a staff member. The restaurant was very busy, and it looked like there was only one server, who never acknowledged our presence as we waited to be seated. We ended up having to leave and drive to another restaurant for breakfast. Otherwise, though, we received very prompt, friendly, efficient service from the hotel staff, and I would stay here again. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by all around experience EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we are from the Boston area. my daughter got married, in Ct., the weekend of September 27, 2013. the crew at the Holiday were all kind, informative and overall nice to our guests traveling to the wedding, as well as my husband and myself and especially the bride and groom. Sophie the manager was beyond kind and answered all my questions. the people in the restaurant were also very good. thank you Sophie and crew for a wonderful experience. the rooms were beyond clean and we had everything we needed. The hotel itself was fine but unfortunately the IHG Rewards program does not recognize the Canadian equivalent, the Priority Club. If the hotels operate under the same name why not the programs? Good to see the redevelopment in the area around the hotel. Staff were great and helpful. September 13, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall stay was great. Overall our stay at the Holiday Inn in New London was great. The room was neat and clean when we came in. There were a pair of children's shoes left under the edge of the bed skirts--one under each bed. We felt those shouldn't have been there. We threw them away. We stayed for three days and the room was kept pretty well--the only thing was that I would like to have seen it vaccumed as the floor was dirty between the beds after our first night. I was surprised they didn't do that when they came in the next day to make the beds, etc. There was an issue with our AC. The repairman came up right away and fixed the problem when called. He was very nice and helpful. We were pleased with the prompt and courteous service. The bathroom sink wouldn't drain if the stopper was in the drain hole and was actually out laying in the sink when we arrived so the staff knew it was that way. I was surprised it wouldn't have been fixed. We would have liked it to have been fixed rather than having the dirty stopper laying in the sink or an open drain hole. We didn't call the front desk because we didn't want to deal with it. We ordered room service from the restaurant downstairs one night and were surprised that the food came like takeout in a bag. We weren't even given paper plates or condiments. We called for these items and they were promptly delivered. Very weird. I was expecting glass plates and silverware like in any other hotel I have been to. The food was just okay. We didn't eat breakfast there so we don't know how it was. Very disappointing. I am not sure if is was run by the hotel or an outside vendor. A group was there for a reunion. The people were older but we never heard them or were bothered by the large group. I don't know where they were meeting. The halls were quiet and we never felt crowded and it is a large hotel and relatively full based on the parking lot. Aside from the above mentioned things, the staff was courteous and helpful. Our stay was pleasant and easy. We had what we needed or got it when we asked. We will stay here again in the future. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by No restaurant connected to hotel The breakfast place ( connected to lobby) turns out not to be owned by the hotel! There was one bewildered ( but very nice) waiter to serve everyone-- and when we all complained of the sloppiness, dishes not cleaned up, dirty tables and floor he explained he was ALONE and apologized. He explained that Holiday Inn did not own the restaurant!!! The signs all around and in the elevator certainly did not say this and made it sound as if a fine breakfast awaited everyone. That said, the food was not horrible although some items were cold when they should have been warm. Otherwise, the hotel was good enough like most Holiday Inns are! September 1, 2013

Schoolcraft What an excellent and enjoyable experience this past weekend at the New London Holiday Inn....Mr. Schoolcraft from the moment we arrived until the very moment we left after 2 day stay was there to help and guide us. What a great example of one who cares for his guests and the performance of all his people was great. The remodel is an excellent example of money well spent and my compliments to the designers and builders. To the owner of the property i would like to recommend that the grounds (green shrubs and gardens) maybe get a little more attention to further compliment the overall experience at this Hotel. I found everything impeccable with the exception of the shrubs being cut and the cuttings still on the sidewalks two days after the gardener was there,,,,Light fixtures along walkways were in need of repair and a possible shock hazard to guests and I feel a little more attention to placement and care of shrubbery would make this location a scenic, resort style hotel. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location for the ferries! This hotel is in a great location for the ferries, and the Amtrak train station, just a short walk away. No car or taxi needed. Good restaurants nearby, again walking distance, with pretty views on the water. In general the hotel is very clean, good size rooms, plenty of hot water and beds comfortable. On the negative side the 'discount' available in the hotel restaurant remains unclear to me, and our alarm call to catch the ferry, didn't happen. Luckily we awoke in time, to run to the ferry! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by new london Like every other Holiday Inn Express it was very clean and had friendly staff. Unfortunately there is no breakfast like there is at every other Holiday Inn Express. There is a restaurant but you can't even charge to your room because "it's separate." It's not separate. It's in the motel! Thermostat also has a mind of its own. August 19, 2013
