This hotel was close to everything but yet far enough away from the hub-bub of Bourbon St to allow us to quiet leisure time at the hotel. Hotel pricing was competitive for the area which tends to be quite pricey. There was an armed guard in the lobby which may distress some people but he was a great personality and a wealth of information about places in the area. The counter staff were wonderful as was the bell captain. We didn't try the restaurant because we were only in NOLA for a couple of days but the menu was varied and it smelled delicious. The bar area was not busy and the service was excellent. They serve a great Sazerac!

I normally stay at fairly new holiday inn express hotels and love the staff, amenities and rooms. So staying at a dated holiday inn with old mattresses, tiny bathroom and cramped room was somewhat of a shock to the experience. That said, the location was wonderful. Close to the street cars and near all the sites of the French quarter. The hotel front desk staff was rather gruff and unwelcoming of inquiries. The concierge, much more amenable. The rooms were kept clean, though you could come back from hours of site seeing and the room not be done yet. They indicate coffee is available in the lobby. I am a tea drinker, so had to go into the restaurant for hot water in the mornings. They also only had intermittent decaf coffee...another foray into the restaurant. Luckily the restaurant staff was pleasant, always! So my favorite part of this hotel was the martini bar! Great drinks at a great price during happy hour, with live music later in the evening that was perfect to chill out by. I can also recommend GW Fins restaurant just a block away. The restaurant in this hotel was good, service excellent, but food not memorable.
