Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by First bad experience with New Yorkers The hotel was comfortable, clean, surprisingly quiet and a great value for the location. The staff, however, was rude and condescending. I have been to NYC numerous times over the years to visit my sister and have always found New Yorkers time-focussed but willing to help. For the first time, I encountered the stereotype of a New Yorker - working the front desk. After 5000 miles in the air and 5 hours on the road, I was admittedly a bit bedraggled. If I was designer head to toe, I certainly wouldn't stay at a Holiday Inn. So, his condescending attitude was completely out of line and unprofessional. So, thanks for the real NY experience. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good location!!! Convenient location, excellent facility, very nice and comfortable stay. Staff is helpful with questions and directions. November 27, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Front Desk clerk had "attitude" I stayed here with my boyfriend as a gift from my parents. I'm 24. I had never been to NYC. The hotel front desk clerk had attitude. I asked him if he could call a cab for me. I had never in my life hailed a cap in NYC before. I even asked him, in English "how does this work" and gave me a very flip response and was not helpful. Other than this front desk clerk (who worked on the 17th of December from 9am - 1PM) the hotel itself was fine, comfortable, all new kitchennette. No microwave but small refrigerator was helpful. I think the front desk clerk needed some lessons in manners - not everyone who stays in his hotel is from New York City. November 23, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent location for a tourist Stayed two days after Sandy for two nights. Down a quiet street this place suited us well. Easy walk to the Empire State and pick up point for the hop on bus tour. 15 minute walk to Times Square was no problem. Desk staff knowlegdeable and friendly, able to help out with directions etc. Used Priority Club points for this stay, great value compared to other Holiday Inns in Manhattan. All in all a great stay. Recommended. November 21, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location!!! We had a pleasant stay. The rooms are well appointed and clean. The staff are helpful and friendly. The location is GREAT! Would definiely recommend this hotel for your stay in Manhattan. November 17, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great location The location of the hotel is very good. The rooms are comfortable and updated. November 15, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable and great location I would recommend and stay at this hotel again while in New York. The location was within walking distance to Macy's, Herald's Square, the Empire State Building and other places. In addition to the beds being queen size, they and the pillows were comfortable. The only downside, there were four of us in the room and we were given towels for 2 - 3 people and had to request additional towels on 2 separate days. November 14, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Near Penn Station Great beds and staff. The people at the front desk were awesome. Thank you!!! November 11, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great location, nice property, rotten service Enjoyed the convenient location and nice rooms. Large festival on streets near hotel during my visit. I was advised by hotel to stay away until it was over (6pm) when i called to confirm my two bed room. I arrived 7pm to find my room had been downsized and there were no other rooms available. I got to sleep on the floor, great vacation! I wasted points and money! November 3, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by nice was happy to get a early check in (came from a nt flight from hawaii) staff was always ready with a smile even the night staff. I am a property manager for vacation homes in hawaii. Honest feed back is very important for my busniess. Holiday Inn is a great place to stay.close to attractions and subway. The free internet was a plus since we spend the time to plan our day out. Beds were great. I would stay here again. October 29, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by good location The hotel has a really good location, rooms are small (i guess this is a common characteristic for all hotels in Manhattan) but they are well/new furnished. Bathrooms are small too but new. October 27, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LARGE MODERN ROOMS AND FRIENDLY STAFF HOTEL IS VERY NICELY MAINTAINED, GREAT STAFF, GOOD SIZE ROOMS FOR NYC. ONLY DRAW BACK IS IT OFFERS NO AMENITIES AT ALL. NOTHING FOR BREAKFAST , COCKTAIL HOUR OR ROOM EXTRA. ONLY A BOTTLE OF WATER. October 27, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Clean and Quiet Enjoyable stay. Very clean & quiet, peaceful. I forgot I was in a hotel. The bedding & bed was lovely. Bathroom was great! large & nice stand up shower. Very convenient for downtown New York. The staff was super friendly and addressed any questions and or requests. The staff was dressed appropriately, clean and they had manners. Internet was good. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CLEAN AND COMFY with GREAT location!! This is the second visit to this Holiday Inn, and I highly recommend it! The desk staff were friendly and helpful. I was able to check in early to a VERY clean room. After a day of shopping, it was easy to relax in the comfortable bed. There is a great black out shade, so light and noise were not problems. It's a great location a few blocks of Penn Station and Macy's Herald Square. I'm already planning my next stay! October 22, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good location towels on the downside While this location gives you many options....the parking is one street away and the actual street the hotel is on can be very dirty. staff seemed attentive however it did not seem like more than three people ran the hotel. Dont expect a view since rooms do face the side of other buildings. Shopping can be aplus because the whole sale perfumne district is just around the corner. Overall an average stay. October 17, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great location, new and clean, super wonderful staff. great location, new and clean, super wonderful staff. October 15, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Staff and Very Clean The Staff were outstanding, very friendly and helpful. We ordered room service and the meal was delivered in a timely manner. The rooms were very clean, the rooms were a little small, but hey this is New York City "Prime Space". October 13, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Location, Comfort and Value are Excellent I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel on your next trip to New York. The location was very convenient. I requested a high floor and was very happy with the view of the Empire State Building. My room was equipped with a refrigerator and microwave. Everything was new and spacious and exceeded my expectations. There were LOTS of outlets as I was concerned about getting ready. This trip included me, my mom and my 2 girls and you can imagine getting ready all at the same time...outlets were important. The beds were the most comfortable beds I have ever experienced in a hotel. The pillows were labeled with ribbons indicating firm and soft. We LOVED the bed and the pillows...so much that we would like to purchase. You'll love it! The bathroom was nice and I especially liked the shower floor which appeared to have leather looking flooring. No time for TV but was nice size. The staff were very helpful during our stay providing directions and advice. You will not be disappointed. October 12, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly Staff and spacious rooms I was upgraded to the king suite, as platinum member, and the room is great . Very spacious, clean and quiet. The staff does there best to always offer an upgd if avail, or offers the best rooms if alread booked. Friendly and helpful staff. One draw back to this hotel is breakfast is NOT included and sometimes a wait for the cleaning staff . But otherwise its a great property. October 10, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Couldn't have asked for more Stayed here for 9 nights with my partner and parents. We all loved this hotel and can honestly say that because of the staff and location it made our trip. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!!! Loved it!! October 9, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Central Location For NYC Visit Visiting to attend a pro football game and to tour the city with my brother. Liked that it was within walking distance of Penn Station and Herald Square subway station. Of course, plenty of places nearby to eat and to take walking tours. Seemed to be reasonably priced for the area. Friendly staff. Clean rooms with comfortable beds. Overall, a pleasant experience. October 8, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location Great location - we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go, even Times Square. 3 blocks from Macy's. From our room we had a great view of the Empire State Building all lit up at night. Good food at restaurant. We were 100% pleased with our stay. October 8, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable and Great Location We had a great time at Holiday Inn Midtown 31st Street - room was comfortable and had everything we needed including free wifi. Location was great and would definitely stay there again next time we're in New York. October 8, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean comfort Super comfortable, quiet room in a great location near Penn Station. The room is a little small if traveling with family or with lots of luggage. It's ideal for a business traveler for a trip of up to 1 week or a couple for 4 or 5 days. The bed is great. Everything is clean and modern. Internet works well. Very good selection of TV channels. (Includes Comedy Channel; We only stay at hotels that feature it.) Staff is knowledgeable, friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. Special kudos to Katie at front desk and the concierge, who is not above helping with luggage if a bellman is not immediately available. The gym is great and machines are consistently available. Other than a few extra square feet and slightly more closet space, couldn't ask for more. October 1, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great new choice for Midtown Helpful staff, good info on local eats, breakfast was very good. Room was immaculate and quiet! September 24, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great experience Conveniently located in midtown and a great value for all of the amenities. The rooms and bathrooms were very neat, clean and had a bit of luxury. Had a good view of Manhattan from my window as well (top floor). Parking nearby which is also good. I would stay here again! September 24, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Superb central NYC hotel A brilliant hotel right in the centre of NYC. Rooms are spacious, clean, modern with great bathroom. We were very well looked after and could not believe how quiet it was in the hotel at night. Highly recommend this hotel. September 23, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So Peaceful, yet in the middle of everything Loved our room. Did have some problems--shower handle workings had to be repaired while we were there as we had little pressure. Also, needed extra pillows and were told for two days in a row by the desk that there weren't any. However, a quick trip to the housekeeping office netted us the pillows we needed. The room was wonderful, mattress amazing, loved the decore. Very warm staff. Will stay here again. September 21, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Overnight Getaway We've been doing an overnight in Manhattan for several years now and usually staying closer to Central Park. Took a chance on the new Midtown 31St location and loved it. Intimate feeling from the moment we checked in (early check-in was nice too). Room was tastefully decorated with a comfortable King bed and completely up-to-date bathroom including a floor to ceiling shower with ample room. Our room was also completely quiet, which is a rare treat in Manhattan! Rather than seek out a deli for breakfast we hit the restaurant and was favorably impressed with the menu and quality of the food. Pricing was also attractive and on par with local resto's. We'll be back next year. September 18, 2012
