Friendly staff. Good location. Tall hotel. Beer Garden across St. Lots of subway stops near by. crowded Ground level. Elevators are busy. Hotel is clean, and a good value. For NYC you wont find a better value.

Just returned from a weekend stay at the HI Manhattan-Financial District and had an excellent time. Hotel is located in a quiet area close to the downtown tourist attractions (9/11 Memorial, Staten Island Ferry, Statue of Liberty, etc.) and 3 major subway stations! We were able to get around the city easily without bumping into crowds of tourists and creepy people in Elmo suits.
The room is small, but this is NYC. Real estate is prime here and you should not expect any hotel room to be as large as those in suburbia without paying a hefty premium. The room was very comfortable for the two of us and the bathroom was more than adequate for our daily routine.
Never had any qualms with the elevators and only waited a few minutes each time. Again, this is NYC and there was only space in this hotel for 3 elevators. If you want 10 elevators and spacious rooms go stay by JFK or LaGuardia and take an hour train ride to the city.
Being a Spire Elite member I was immediately upgraded to the top floor, given preference of river or city view (choose river!), two bottles of water, and my check-in amenity. This is the first IHG hotel that I have been to that instantly recognized my status without being reminded.
Can't recommend this hotel enough. Best IHG stay thus far.
