Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by It's an ok hotel Rooms and whole hotel were nice. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Had a bad experience in trying to retrieve an item that I left behind. Staff did not try to help me retrieve my item. Complimentary coffee is from 12am to 6am in which they remove the coffee after those hours. 6am to 10am would be a more reasonable time for coffee drinking. Restaurant food was ok, it was convenient since it was at the hotel. The gym was clean and had a reasonable amount of equipment to work with. July 28, 2014

We were on a 3 hour delay on Amtrak into Penn Station, and another 40 minute delay on Airtrain at the Newark Liberty Airport. At 3 AM and a total of a 4 hour delay, the hotel still had the shuttle at the airport to pick us up so we could get 4 hours of sleep prior to our 9am flight to San Francisco. July 24, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Just no Just a suggestion - if you're going to have a fitness center that's open 24 hours a day - it's not a very good idea to put a guest in a room right outside of it. The room smelled like a gym sock. Yay. Since the gym was open, someone decided to work out at 1:00 am. He'd lift his weights, do his sets, get tired, and then drop them from shoulder height to the floor, making a loud booming noise. This went on for over an hour until I finally figured out what it was and complained. The employee at the front desk did take care of it, but at that point, it was already 3 am and when you have to get up at 5, there's no chance of sleep. An employee had already loaded a bunch of bottles or unloaded - I'm not sure - right outside of my room into a storage area around 12:30. I'm not sure what was happening there - it was a lot of noise involving glasses. On a totally unrelated to that note, the air conditioner did not work very well. The fan wouldn't stay on and even if I turned the air down to 60, neither would the unit. So, basically, it was a long, hot, miserable night during which I got no sleep and that lack of sleep made the next day more difficult than it should have been. July 21, 2014

My son has autism and she was even able to make him smile and that really made us happy. I will recomend this property to eveyone I know who is traveling!! Every member of the staff was kind, friendly and made our stay wonderful from the Front Office Manager, Gerald, to the other front office staff to the shuttle drivers to the maintenance/repairman to the restaurant staff. We wound up at this hotel under unpleasant circumstances (our flight on the way to a vacation was delayed causing a 3 day layover in Newark.) The wonderful experience at this Holiday Inn completely made up for the travel inconvenience. We were traveling with two 2 year olds and the staff consistently went well beyond necessary to accommodate us and make our experience great. I travel frequently for work and this is one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. July 17, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Visit to Newark - if a bit damp The room was good, clean and comfortable - lots of hot water -all things that I need for my business travel. However, at wait staff at breakfast knocked over the vase on the table and I was soaked from waist to knees. She was very apologetic, but she had nothing in the way of solution to my problem: I had a business meeting in an hour. I got my room key back, ironed and blow dried everything dry and got breakfast done before my ride arrived. All of that was an accident and stuff happens: what shouldn't have happened was the automatic 15% gratuity added to my bill. July 14, 2014

This met that need well. 12PM checkout the next day especially helpful and staff were very attentive. Main drawback is location -- good because it is right near the airport, but nothing around if, like me, you are without a car. July 8, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and quick check out The hotel is conveniently located for my travel plans. It provided shuttle to the airport which added to the convenience. The staff at the front desk was friendly when I checked in, The room was spacious. I like the desk that rolled out for my computer work. Internet access was fast and easy. There were enough computers in the lobby for other purposes. The appearance of the facility needs updating. The lobby and the hallways are not up to the same quality as the other Holiday Inns (I have stayed in several Holiday Inns even abroad). Perhaps it's the timing of my stay and the location, as I paid more for this stay than I had in other Holiday Inns. The restaurant's appearance can also use some updating. The plus side: The menu has a variety of selections and the portions are large which some customers might see as good value. However, I ate only 1/5 of the food on the plate. Cannot take it out (as there are no refrigerators in the room). Overall, because of its location near the airport, it is a good hotel for travelers who want convenience for their flights. However, my stay at the Holiday Inn at Newark Liberty International Airport was outstanding. The ambiance, the hospitality, the amenities, the cleanliness of the room, the friendliness of the staff, the price and the food far exceeded my expectations. It was as if I were staying at a five star hotel at a very reasonalbe price. I strongly recommend this hotel for any traveler whether it be a business person or a vacationer. June 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Airport hotels during road construction... Stayed in three different mid-price hotels near the airport on this trip at different times. This was my favorite based on the the in-house restaurant and ease of access. The airport construction and the maze of streets we had to negotiate made me crazy, but I got 'lost' less while staying at the Holiday Inn. So much for driving in New York. If my friend didn't have trouble with walking I would have opted for public transportation on this trip instead of driving. The food was good, but the meatloaf was salty, service was slow even though they were not excessively busy at the time I visited. June 5, 2014

However the airport shuttle from Newark International is very complicated if a traveler is unaware, as our party was. Thirty-five minutes just to get to the airport shuttle pick up location. Anthony was helpful, but the Holiday Inn website does not explain the Holiday Inn shuttle cannot just pick you up anywhere. VERY Frustrating after traveling all day long Food was fair. Restaurant was extremely expensive for “average food options”. Is your hamburger Filet mignon? Did the food come from a ranch in New Zealand? Really? Same food in the Western U.S. is 30% less expensive. Ruth Chris is fine upscale dinning, not the Holiday Inn, Newark Airport. The restaurant staff service was particularly poor. Most of the restaurant staff were English as a Second Language (ESL) employees who were in no hurry to serve anyone with a bonus of not understanding my requests. Considering the 15% gratuity was included it was not a surprise the service was poor. Rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. Price was what I expected. Front desk staff was very pleasant, prompt and exceptionally professional. June 2, 2014
