Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfy bed, pleasant and helpful employees Hotel was great, shuttle only runs back and forth from hotel to airport. Would've liked the bus to go to Penn station in Newark. Also, I had to wait a while for the shuttle. There was a shuttle there and he said he was full but there would be one coming in the next few minutes. Eventually the same driver came back for me, I don't know what happened to second shuttle bus driver.... January 6, 2014

Hotel staff was no help in clarifying address or providing directions from southern routes. Beware GPS does not recognize the "Route 1 & 9"address. Hint to finding hotel - take Haynes Ave exit from airport, hotel is on right at the bottom of the ramp. AFTER I found the place, the Shuttle driver shared the fact that the location is a former Days Inn. My GPS was then able to locate this hotel from the list of "points of interest." My "Leisure King Room" was very nice and comfortable, EXCEPT there is no microwave or refrigerator - not a requirement of mine - but would be a nice "standard" amenity - that was disappointing. Restaurant was very slow, but food was good. If you are driving, check out Jersey Garden Mall 5 mins away from hotel. All in all, I would stay here again. January 4, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Terrific updated rooms, considerate service Guest rooms have been recently updated with excellent electronic support, wonderfully comfortable pillows (one firm and one soft for each guest) and very comfortable beds. The staff was very helpful, the restaurant accommodated requests very quickly and easily, and the front desk was always helpful. The hotel can be difficult to get to driving due to the confusing roads around Newark airport. Also, there seems to be a steady stream of potential guests arriving via the van service from the confusing system of AirTrains at the airport. The food is good in the restaurant - not exceptional, but fine in keeping with Holiday Inn standards - though the breakfast buffet and evening salad bar are rather mediocre - both need more options. Close to the Airport, yet no noise heard in the room. The price was right for the quality given. Would recommend this hotel to others. January 3, 2014

Lots of different fruits and the eggs were hot. More coffee was offered several times. Every member of the staff were very gracious and helpful when I had questions. When I return to the area I hope to stay at this Holiday Inn again. December 29, 2013

The staff was very knowledgeable and offered several options regarding food service and long term parking for our trip. I spoke to Gerald the Front Office Manager, once he found out I would be coming in for the Home Going service for my mother. He expressed his condolences and assured me that he would make sure my stay would be comfortable. I met Gerald upon checking in he greeted me with a big smile and again expressed his condolences. We had to get up really early in the morning for the funeral service so Gerald helped us out with breakfast for the next morning. Lost my change in the soda machine staff brought one to my room. They had an extra blanket in the room, which was wonderful because I am always cold my husband on the hot side. Room was clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was outstanding and the staff was very attentive and polite. I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely stay again, will also suggest to family and friends. December 2, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Experience We needed a hotel near Newark Airport for one night before an early morning flight. Was very pleased with the entire experience. Walked out of P4 terminal and there was a Holiday Inn shuttle loading, so we had no wait. The hotel was minutes away. Upon arrival, the hotel front desk staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The lobby had a very nice restrauant, food was good and reasonably priced. The room was clean and comfortable with nice features. Reading lights on the beds, good outlets, and good lighting. In the morning the shuttle was available for our return to the airport. Overall very pleased send would recommend this hotel. Thank you for a very nice experience. November 25, 2013

The worst food we have eaten in ANY hotel in over 50 years. The bar service was terrible and OVERPRICED. This is not the Ritz but the prices were comparable. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Experience. Wouldn't Stay Again. Upon arrival, the security guard threatened my driver. Guard said he would "write you a ticket" for parking at the front entrance to let me out. I thought that was an interesting welcome. Next, the front desk clerk asked me my name three different times upon checking in. Also interesting but I thought maybe he was tired. Got to the room and went to sleep. The air conditioner stopped working at 1:30am and began making a very loud noise. I couldn't sleep so I called the front desk to report the problem. His reply was to turn it off and go back to sleep. That was impossible so I ask to move to another room. I was told no other rooms were available however he had a smoking room. He said he would meet me on the appointed floor with the keycard. I loaded up and went there. I waited 15 minutes and no one showed. Called the front desk and he finally sent the security guard. Was it the same guard who threatened my driver with a ticket? Yes. At least he was helping guests now. The smoking room had the worst smell I have ever experienced before. The room was also next to the freeway. When I called the front desk to ask for another room. He said no. I asked about moving to another property. He said that wasn't possible. The night front desk clerk then put me on hold and never came on the line again nor answered my other calls. I didn't get much sleep. I had to hold a pillow over my head because of the noise and smell. The person traveling with me had to vomit in the morning due to the bad odor. I talked with the front desk manager in the morning. My bill also had the wrong name on it. So the check in clerk never got my name right. The manager was unhelpful. Offered a comp'ed breakfast and deduct 25 percent off the room but I just wanted out of there and get the nightmare behind me. So much for being a IHG Platinum member. When I read comments by previous guests I try to sort out the complainers to incidents of real problems. I avoid hotels with bad customer service experiences. I don't want to experience hotels with bad service or problems. I hope this helps others in choosing a room for a good night's sleep. November 10, 2013

After circling the area 3 times in the dark we finally called the hotel to find out how to get to it. Granted that the current road construction didn't help any. Set your GPS for 100 International Way, Newark, NJ in order to get to the right exit -- but then don't actually turn right onto International Way. Go past the turn for International Way, and a little further down the road will be the hotel. Typical for HI that it has no fridge nor microwave oven in the room. Check-in was fine and the room was fine, but in the morning we went downstairs for breakfast. There were only a few people in the restaurant but our food order took 45 minutes to arrive and was the worst breakfast I've every had. Hotel service was great and room was perfect for my overnight stay until I could catch a flight the next day. A free shuttle to the airport with a very nice driver who helped lift my heavy bags! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Expensive and Crowded Don't even bother eating at the hotel restaurant, its extremely overpriced. A quick search will take you to much better options in the area. The hotel location is horrible if you're arriving in a vehicle. I can't even explain the frustration. If there is road construction or accidents it gets really ugly fast. The hotel itself is average.
