Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Front Desk Staff, not so good restaurant staff Big ALOHA and praise to the wonderful front reception staff and shuttle bus drivers for their display of hospitality and service to their valued guests. The room was beautifully furnished and equipped. THE REASON FOR THE AVERAGE STAFF/SERVICE SCORE IS BECAUSE OF THE RESTAURANT STAFF/SERVICE. Restaurant experience was not good . On the menu it clearly stated that a 15% tip would be included in the bill, this is regardless of the type of service (good or bad) the server provides to its patrons (labor union issue?). From a service standpoint, the servers may not provide the best possible service to their patrons as they know they will automatically receive the tip as it is already included in the food bill. Overall, nice property and service with the exception of the restaurant staff. Sent letter to the GM regarding my experience soon after my return home and unfortunately no response. February 5, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasant Stay We booked a room at the property to visit with a friend on a layover at the Newark Airport. The property was up to date and clean. We decided not to wander and had dinner and breakfast in their restaurant. They had a nice little salad bar and the entrees were surprisingly good. (I tend not to expect too much from a hotel restaurant.) The restaurant staff was attentive and friendly. The guest room looked fresh and up to date. The only things that were a bit unimpressive were the bathroom - clean, new fixtures, but they had a drop ceiling that made the room feel tight and dark (tall people beware) - and the second thing is the rooms do not have a fridge which you kind of expect to be standard equipment in hotel rooms these days. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay in a up to date, nice, clean hotel. January 23, 2014

You give competitive rates online but are not flexible when natural phenomenon (such as a snowstorm) changes the travelers itinerary. Your hotels need to create a network of services rather than act as individual fiefdoms. January 11, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient with Good Service The hotel is in a kind of wasteland but is an island of comfort close to the airport. Clearly an overnight hotel for those in transition. This was my first use of the park and fly option while my family took a week's vacation in Florida. The whole system worked very well. Parking is on the hotel property. The restaurant was totally overwhelmed on the night we checked in (the hotel was full and it was the big snowstorm) and they only served a bar menu. Service was really slow but the food was OK. Portions not that big. Overall we found the staff willing and friendly. The shuttle was on time and it took about 12 minutes to the P4 AirTrain station. It does not go directly to the terminals so add about 20 minutes to your travel time from when the shuttle leaves the hotel. From P4 to the terminals the AirTrain is free. January 11, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Newly renovated Loved the newly renovated rooms, very comfortable after a long day traveling. Front desk staff were helpful at check in and provided a crib for my daughter in less than 10 min. Unfortunately, the waitress in the restaurant at breakfast the next morning was extremely rude. Yes we did want an early (6.15 am) breakfast but considering the restaurant was supposed to be open at 6 I was very disappointed with her attitude. We barely got a grunt of acknowledgement and definitely no service with a smile. January 7, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfy bed, pleasant and helpful employees Hotel was great, shuttle only runs back and forth from hotel to airport. Would've liked the bus to go to Penn station in Newark. Also, I had to wait a while for the shuttle. There was a shuttle there and he said he was full but there would be one coming in the next few minutes. Eventually the same driver came back for me, I don't know what happened to second shuttle bus driver.... January 6, 2014

Hotel staff was no help in clarifying address or providing directions from southern routes. Beware GPS does not recognize the "Route 1 & 9"address. Hint to finding hotel - take Haynes Ave exit from airport, hotel is on right at the bottom of the ramp. AFTER I found the place, the Shuttle driver shared the fact that the location is a former Days Inn. My GPS was then able to locate this hotel from the list of "points of interest." My "Leisure King Room" was very nice and comfortable, EXCEPT there is no microwave or refrigerator - not a requirement of mine - but would be a nice "standard" amenity - that was disappointing. Restaurant was very slow, but food was good. If you are driving, check out Jersey Garden Mall 5 mins away from hotel. All in all, I would stay here again. January 4, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Terrific updated rooms, considerate service Guest rooms have been recently updated with excellent electronic support, wonderfully comfortable pillows (one firm and one soft for each guest) and very comfortable beds. The staff was very helpful, the restaurant accommodated requests very quickly and easily, and the front desk was always helpful. The hotel can be difficult to get to driving due to the confusing roads around Newark airport. Also, there seems to be a steady stream of potential guests arriving via the van service from the confusing system of AirTrains at the airport. The food is good in the restaurant - not exceptional, but fine in keeping with Holiday Inn standards - though the breakfast buffet and evening salad bar are rather mediocre - both need more options. Lots of different fruits and the eggs were hot. More coffee was offered several times. Every member of the staff were very gracious and helpful when I had questions. I spoke to Gerald the Front Office Manager, once he found out I would be coming in for the Home Going service for my mother. He expressed his condolences and assured me that he would make sure my stay would be comfortable. I met Gerald upon checking in he greeted me with a big smile and again expressed his condolences. We had to get up really early in the morning for the funeral service so Gerald helped us out with breakfast for the next morning. Lost my change in the soda machine staff brought one to my room. They had an extra blanket in the room, which was wonderful because I am always cold my husband on the hot side. Room was clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was outstanding and the staff was very attentive and polite. I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely stay again, will also suggest to family and friends. December 2, 2013
