Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Newcastle trip Initial impression not good, attempting to park in spaces that were by en large far too narrow Checked in and headed to the room... was compact but ok. My wife struggled with the lighting. She couldn't find a good spot to apply make up. On return to the hotel having spent a lovely evening with my son in Jesmond, we decided to have a drink in the foyer bar. The cost of two drinks was extremely high. A pint of Peroni and a small white wine and soda costing in the region of £12.50 ... may even have been £13.00. As a consequence we only had one..! On returning to bed we found that the bed was either on a slant or the mattress bowed... I kept sliding to the other side of the bed. This experience left us both feeling more than a little disappointed and we certainly won't be revisiting this hotel in the future. October 24, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay Directions to hotel were correct and easy to find. Reception staff were very helpful. Car parking is attached to the hotel. The room was ready on time and the staff could not have been more co-operative. The Leisure Centre was most welcoming after walking round Newcastle especially the sauna and jacuzzi to ease our aching feet. Hopefully we will return. October 21, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Poor cleaning staff ruined the stay After a long trip up from Liverpool and a night of celebration, it was hoped that a good night sleep could have been had, but this was not the case. Rudely awoken at half 8 by a noisy cleaner shouting into rooms and slamming every door possible. This went on for 2 hours at which point I decided to get up. The DO NOT DISTURB sign was applied and the cleaner barged through the door, this time not shouting (no apology was made). In my view we had the room until 12 so should be entitled to stay there, without being indirectly forced out of the room by an impatient and inconsiderate cleaner who wanted to finish his duties early. Like most hotels now it was clean and tidy so this tarnished our whole stay as it was a surprise trip for my girlfriends birthday October 21, 2014

The Holiday Inn on Jesmond Road would always be our first choice when we are in Necastle and the few times that we have had to book in anywhere else we have always been disappointed. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good stay Room very pleasant -bed comfortable and room well appointed. Had a really good night's sleep. Evening meal in Italian restaurant in hotel was very enjoyable though with restaurant being full service was a little slow. Breakfast was fine - good choice & variety on offer. Service was efficient and friendly. One note of disappointment was that the carpets had not been hoovered sufficient well for there was traces of food on it from the previous days evening meals. I don't know whether there had been a problem with the bed but the one in the room was poor; so poor in fact it spoilt the stay even though the Holiday Inn have added some nice complimentary touches. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly staff and a great car park Newcastle is a pain to park in and as this hotel has a free car park and is within a 10 minute walk of the town centre so it has a lot to offer. Coupled with that the staff are very helpful and the rooms are comfy. Only problem is some of the rooms have chocolate coloured shades which are useless if you want to be able to read a book. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Near to Metro and spacious room Stayed 4 nights there while helping my daughter to settle-in in Newcastle U. The Metro is a 5mins walk which is great as the nearest shops or restaurants are 15mins walk away. The hotel is clean and appear to be relatively new. The housekeeping was not thorough in replenishing all the amenities. In the mornings, there was a lot of noise (doors banging, luggage being dread along the corridor, sounds like beds being lifted??!....) We would come back again when we visit our daughter next year mainly for the location and the good size room. September 25, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not expecting a night club at the Hotel! I arrived to a club night in full swing. I had about 2 hours prep work to get though for the morning so was offered a room in the quiet part of the Hotel - it wasn't. To add to this I was awoken several times during the night due to noise from an air vent and pipes. Breakfast looked good but was VERY bland and as a coffee drinker who enjoys a morning pot - there was no individual coffee pots on the table - just luke warm top ups. Staff were pleasant enough. So, all in all for what was on offer it was pretty expensive and I have stayed in much better for less. I will look elsewhere the next time I stay in Newcastle. September 17, 2014

Very tranquil surroundings; hotel room spotless and a bath!. Adjoining restaurant serves gluten free vegan food. I was welcomed as an IHG club member and i really appreciated the map of Dean Park outlying a post work 4 mile walk/run. September 16, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not as good as our other visits We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Jesmond three times and on both other occasions it was much better. I rang up the hotel in advance to ask for a specific room and we were told that it was unavailable but we would be put in one with the exact same layout as we were travelling with a toddler. Of course, on arrival at the room, it was not the same. My husband went to reception and although the staff were rather dismissive, after lots of persuasion, they said they'd move us to the room we wanted the next morning. The next morning, we went to reception to asked to be moved, to be told (I think by the reception supervisor) that the room we wanted was reserved for someone else and we couldn't move. Finally, on our last night, I checked with the same reception supervisor to see if we could stay another night. We were told that there were no rooms available. I got back to the room and looked on line and there were rooms available. We decided not to give the Holiday Inn our further custom for the additional night as were weren't too pleased. We love the hotel, location and it just seemed that this time, the hotel was being over run by weddings or stag nights (which the hotel says it doesn't host but I met someone at breakfast who said they were on a stag night) and none of the staff seemed that bothered by their other guests. I will be back, but only if I can make sure that we can get the room we requested. September 6, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel and room very clean and staff very helpful We always stay in at least 4 star accommodation but having never stayed in a Holiday Inn before we were a little apprehensive as to what to expect. However from the moment we parked the car in the onsite car park we were delighted with the hotel, our accommodation and the staff. In fact some other well know 4/5 star hotel chains could take some lessons from the Holiday Inn. We will certainly look for Holiday Inns on our next holiday. August 17, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by B|reak in Newcastle. This hotel was a lot quieter than the last time we visited. The food in the retaurant is good especially the Pizza. The staff are friendly and helpfull. If you can get a room in the new part of the hotel as the rooms are generally larger. The bar would be great if it had any atmosphere but there was only ever a couple of people in it at any time. If I was in Newcastle in Business I might consider using this hotel again but I wouldn't come here on a liesure break again. August 14, 2014

Holiday Inn can provide excellent service; the hotel at Brighouse demonstrates this time and time again. If Brighouse is amongst the best in making guests feel welcome then Jesmond sit's alongside the bottom order! In this hotel, platinum members are treated like everybody else - as irritant distractions who get in the way! I've said it before - get your loo seats fixed! Clean your rooms and make sure there is no curly human hair in the bed! August 9, 2014
