Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by I cancelled reservation and they charged me. I called and cancelled this reservation within the grace period. I was going to Niagara Falls and, when the weather forecast was rain for the weekend, we decided to cancel. When I received my Amex bill I found that I was charged for a night because they said I didn't cancel. I took it on faith that, when I spoke to someone on the phone and cancelled, that they did, in fact, cancel the reservation. When I called to complain about being charged they said I didn't cancel and they 'held' the room. As I said it was a rainy weekend and I'm sure they weren't booked up - we had no trouble getting a reservation a few days before we cancelled. Calling the Niagara Falls Holiday Inn was an unsatisfying experience. In retrospect I never received a confirmation of the cancel but, at the time, was busy with other things and did not notice that - assuming that they do send confirmations for cancellations. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not so great experience The problems that I had with this place was 1)that only one of the 3 elevators was working properly, 2) I requested a non-smoking room which I got but it smelled like cigarette smoke coming out from the bathroom, 3) No microwave in the 2 queen bed size room, 4) The pool area was under kept, and 5) The parking area was very limited. What happened?! You wowed us the last time with your hospitality, accommodation and great fare! Still a great hotel for a short term stay - especially if you are going shopping across the border. We liked that the rooms didn't have carpet in it; no wondering how dirty the carpet might be. The staff was very friendly and helpful.The only thing that would make this Hotel better if they offer a free breakfast...we found the restaurant that is inside the hotel a bit pricey, but there are plenty of places to eat about 5 miles away where all the other shopping is. Next trip we will definitely try to book this hotel again. February 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by would absolutely stay here again I was pleasently surprised at how friendly the staff was, everyone from the front desk lady to the maintenance people were VERY friendly. I chose this hotel because of the arcade and indoor pool. My daughter loved the arcade as did I. When I called the front desk for room service, the lady that answered the phone was very plesent, I was transered to the resturant located downstairs and again the staff there was very plesent, infact I'd say that any staff that we delt with seemed genuinely happy, even the cleaning ladies. We ran into a maintenance man in the elevator, he got off the floor before ours and as he left the elevator he looked at us smiled and said "Have a nice day". Ohhh and not to mention the view from our 6th floor room was amazing, we could see a little bit of the Falls, and at night you could see all the buildings lit up. Overall we would stay here again!!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasantly Surprised! We were extremely happy with our accommodations at the hotel. We had booked the king bed suite, and it was really lovely. Had a nice view of the rapids and the top of the falls. The hotel was on the older side, but very well kept, and probably newly remodeled. We ate in the Peppertree Restaurant and the food was great. Very convenient having everything under one roof. We didn't take swim suits along, but they also have a really nice pool area too. If they had a jaccuzi, that would make it perfect! Would highly recommend this hotel, and will probably be booking there again when we return to the falls. We love the Niagara Falls ! February 16, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Coldest hotel This was the worst Holiday Inn I've ever stayed at. Our room was freezing cold. The whole hotel was cold but our room was way worse than the rest of the hotel. The laminate floor in our room was in very poor repair and the floor was so cold we couldn't take our shoes off. The rumour amongst the guests was their was a problem with the heat but the front desk didn't provide any information. We asked if there was a space heater we could use for our room and they told us no it's only available to the staff at the front desk. The room finally warmed up by the last day but I would like to have seen the staff take accountability for the problem and perhaps offer at the very least a complimentary breakfast. My husband and I complained to the front desk multiple times but our issue was ignored. We even asked if we could move to another room but we were told that we had to remain with our group. I was also surprised to learn that our group rate was higher than the AAA rate. When I asked if we could take advantage of the AAA rate I was told by the front desk if we did we would risk our team being disqualified from the tournament. February 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice room need better venelation My only complaint about this property is the parking and the smoke smell in the room. Although it was a smoking room it smelled very similar to a smoke shop at closing. The room size and decor was indeed stunning and lighting a glade candle got rid of the smell so not so bad. As a matter of fact we are buying a new home and i liked the room so much i am mirroring my master bedrrom to the room I stayed in. I stayed here a few weeks before this time and I will say the staf was a bit friendlier last time at the desk than this time. Could of been too early in the morning but when checking out I gave the wrong room number (my mistake) but the person at the desk seemed put out before just entering my name and finding me...took 20 seconds tops so there wasnt a lot of haggling there. The housekeeper was more pleasant than the front desk this time and I liked her. All in all I will be back again real soon, my husband and I consider this our weekend home away from home when getting away for the weekend. So give the front desk some coffee and air out the smoking rooms you will be seeing us again :-) January 29, 2013

Manager handled it well and gave us a night free but the room should have been cleaned / desmoked pior to us arriving. Will stay again--great location for either casino or hockey tourneys. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean Hotel that has Smoking Rooms Stayed here numerous times as it is convient to shopping in Niagara Falls, New York and Buffalo. Also "o too close" to the casino. With a smoker in the party it is nice to be able to book in this hotel. Clean rooms and friendly service. Have not eaten in the restaurant so cannot comment. Was presently surprised to be upgraded to a suite as a "Priority Club" member. Will definetly stay again January 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Everything was OK, but it was cold in the room It was my first time in Niagara Falls, right after New Year celebration. I was excited about this trip. We chose Holiday Inn because of location and its name recognition (i stayed in other Holiday Inn hotels before). So, as i said, everything was just fine. I liked the room. The view from a window was really nice. But it was cold in the room! We tried to turn the air-conditioner on heat, but the air was still cold.. The heating system must be obviously improved. Anyway, i had a great time in Niagara Falls and even problems with the heating didn't spoil anything. January 8, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice place We reserved a room here on short notice for New Year's Eve. The room was nice and clean. The only issue was that it did not have a microwave. Just a small issue. The hotel is situated perfectly for getting to the American side of the Falls, the Casino and all. They need some touch-up paint and to clean out the light covers in the hallways and stairwells. She has a black hair and wears the black-frame glasses.Since the first day I checked in, she has started to be mean to me and showed her bad attitude to me all the time. Furthermore, at the second-day evening, I wanna get some changes to buy soda from vending machine. I went to the front desk and asked her for some changes. She didn't look at me at all and said nothing to me. It seems I did something wrong and I felt really terrible. It's my first time I felt that I was treated under racial discrimination. By the way, without her, I have to say it is such a good hotel. Great location and a wonderful room service!!! There was a nice and friendly youny man providing me such a wonderful room service!!! And at the last day, when I checked out, another front desk staff was such a nice lady and really friendly help me check out. December 20, 2012

There was only one extra blanket in the room so one of us was cold in the night. We could not get the heat regulated. We did not want to call the front desk in the middle of the night when we got cold. We did ask for and receive one the next day. The beds were fairly creaky. While the coffee was reasonable I do wish there was an option for a dark roast both in the room and the restaurant. December 11, 2012

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great rooms for a short stay We have been staying at this site for years on our shopping trips. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. Occasionally large hockey team bookings can be noisy and take over the pool so check with the hotel first if this will bother you. Very disappointed at last trip - Looking forward to the hot tub! We changed into suits, went down only to discover that the hot tub was covered by a large wooden platform with xmas decorations on it. Hotel should have mentioned that the hot tub had been taken out as guests may book elsewhere if that is a staying feature for them as it it for us. December 8, 2012
