As an IHG Gold Elite member I have stayed in many IHG hotels. This one has been the best by far.
The front desk always greeted you if you were leaving for the day or returning from the days activities.
The hotel is located near the airport, which is nice when you having a late arrival and early departure.

I recently reserved two rooms at this hotel on a weekend Friday to Sunday for two nights each. I had a conference that I was attending to in downtown Edmonton and originally booked at a hotel there, but then this hotel was part of the Points Break option which made it a steal, even if it involved a commute into town each day from the airport. You can't beat a Points Break promotion when you are an IHG Rewards Club member.
We had a few changes in plans of who was staying, as after the convention my mother and I were going to continue on a little family trip. At the end of the day, I stayed in one room and my mom and aunt shared another. I e-mailed the hotel prior to our stay and Kelsey was able to assist with IHG Reward Club Platinum member complimentary upgraded rooms. Thanks Kelsey.
On arrival the first thing I noticed was that the driveway entrance had a huge pothole. Never a great way to start a stay by dodging a hole in the ground when driving in.
The Front Desk Agent Lorraine was great at welcoming us and getting us all settled since my aunt was coming later on that night. She gave us all the options for IHG related things (welcome amenity, breakfast option, wifi access, etc.). Lorraine was wonderful.
The Lobby area was done very well and the colours matched efficiently to make it a warm feel. It felt quite new. We took the elevators up to our rooms and noticed that there was a self laundry area if we needed it.
My room was a King Suite and was fantastic, clean, and simple. Lots of room and space. It was great to have sufficient plugins to use for all my devices. The one thing I noticed, after visiting my mom and aunt across the hall, was that their 2 Room Suite had an extra light in it. That helped brighten the area. My room did not have this extra light across from the couch area. So it did feel a little darker.
TV and wifi worked great. Bathroom was great, but it felt like they used a cheap toilet paper. I know people call me crazy for little things like this, but when you stay at a Holiday Inn and get a suite, you expect a decent brand of toilet paper. The bathroom towels were large and fluffy so that was good. Some hotels don't have the large towels and I hate that. The water pressure worked great too. No major complaints at all.
My mom and aunt had the breakfast option each day and they said they enjoyed it.
On the Saturday night we dined in the hotel restaurant. It was a little silly as my aunt ordered an item that said it came with a choice of side and when she said she wanted the vegetables, the waiter said they were out of vegetables. How do you run out of vegetables? Surely you can find some random carrots, potatoes, peppers, something, anything, and either grill, steam, etc. them? It made the rest of the dinner very odd as it was strange and set an odd tone.
At the end of the day I would definitely consider staying here again if in the area. I didn't mind the commute into town, but it was on the weekend this trip, so this may not work out during the week if you are planning to be in the city.
The staff were wonderful and top notch and I always appreciate when a hotel recognizes the loyalty of their top tier members. The hotel still has that new feel to it and whomever did the interiors did a fantastic job with the colour scheme, tiles in the bathrooms, etc. It looked really good.
