They know no strangers here, i felt like I have known the staff for 20 years,. The most helpful courteous, caring staff I have seen in many years. I always have a room type and located according to my preference since the first time I stayed here 2 or 3 weeks ago. From the lobby to the bathroom this place is always spotless and well maintained. This is now my permanent destination when I travel to the Hampton Roads area!!! December 13, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good night's sleep - but it stops there The bed, temperature setting and pillows made for a quiet, comfortable place to sleep, but don't expect any extras. My room was missing a hair dryer (front desk said they are often stolen), was not cleaned by housekeeping for the first two nights I was there, had their pool closed the entire week, and a fitness room so small, it could barely contain the equipment that was jammed inside, which really didn't matter considering two pieces were broken and the water cooler was empty as well. So as not to exclude the one bright spot, I do want to mention two employees whose performance impressed me so, that I did not pursue leaving the second day and finding another place to stay. The night front desk clerk/manager and the morning dining room waitress. Both truly know the meaning of customer satisfaction and both were a joy to meet and deal with. Now, if only Holiday Inn could hire more employees with that mentality and work ethic!! December 3, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by This Hotel Has Gone Downhill We checked into a room with a jacuzzi on a Friday night. When we got there, the heat was not working, so we had to call down to fix it. The maintenance lady was excellent, but she couldn't fix it until the next day. She had to show us how to jerry rig it since we were only staying one night. We ordered room service, and the staff was nice but some of the food was burnt and it definitely was not worth the price paid for what you got. When we woke up in the morning and went to climb in the jacuzzi, we found it did not work. At this point it was too late to call down and have it fixed, so I complained when I saw the manager at checkout. He gave us the price of a regular room, but I heard him mutter that it was probably an "operator problem". I was really impressed with this place when we stayed here a few years back, but after this experience I'll be staying elsewhere. November 20, 2014
