Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Customer Accounting Service I have been a customer of this particuliar Holiday Inn for the past two years, as I have a son attending Norfolk State University. I have never had any major problems with the service at this hotel and have always had very good experiences. However, the customer service that I received after checking out, was not very good at all, to say the least. I made my reservations in advance (with my debit card), which means that payment was made with my debit card at the time of reservations. However, when I checked out, unknowing to me, I was charged again. Now I know mistakes will be made, that wasn't the problem. Several days later as I am checking my account online, I see this second charge on my card, which put me in overdrawn status with my bank. Not only am I in overdrawn status, but I have incurred two days of overdraft fees. In talking with accounting, I was told the hotel was not responsible for my account being overdrawn and wold not reimburse me for the overdraft fees and basically said that this whole situation was my fault. What!!!!!!!? I understand being loyal to your employer, but what about loyalty to loyal customers. If my being a customer with them means less then doing what is right, then I don't need to be their customer. What ever happened to customer service/customer appreciation? I won't be staying with them anymore. Because of this whole situation, Holiday Inn has lost a very valuable and loyal customer. August 30, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall great experience Comfortable rooms, overall nice but when we went swimming at 10pm and there were 20 people (I counted) and no towels we called 3 times for a refill. First 2 calls the front desk said the towels were on their way, the 3rd call they said they were in the dryer and hung up on us. Needless to say, we had to walk the halls dripping and freezing back to our room. Other than that, we had a great time. August 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyed the stay The courtesy shuttle is a very nice benefit. They pick you up from the airport and will bring you to any restaurant within a 5 miles radius. The drivers are extremely nice and helped with all of our luggage. After a long flight with a 2 year old, the extra help was nice. Rooms were comfortable and clean, which is always important. We would definitely stay at this location again. August 22, 2013

Everyone I encountered from the Front Clerks to the Waitresses in the Restaurant were very professional, willing to assist, and Smiled. A smile goes a long way with me in conjunction with a comfortable bed at Hotels. I will definitely return to this Hotel in the future, not just for business but personal with my family. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible Service I drove eleven hours to be there for my nieces wedding. She blocked rooms at the holiday inn. I called months ahead and told them that I would be attending a wedding and what time the wedding started. I was told that early check in would not be a problem and not to worry. When I arrived after my 11 hour drive, I was told my room was not ready. It was already 5:15pm, an hour and 15 minutes passed regular check in. When I reminded the front desk that I was there as part of a wedding that had blocked rooms and that I was already late for the wedding there was no sense of urgency or even an apology. I had to sit in the lobby and wait with 2 small children, crying and needing to be changed while the wedding started without us, When they finally told us ONE of our rooms was ready, we all had to change and prepare in the same room, despite paying for two. I ended up missing the entire ceremony, sitting in the lobby waiting for a room, even though it was well passed check in time. I didn't receive my second room until I returned from the wedding and still had to check out by 10 am. I had to pay for a room that I only got to use for a few hours. I asked to speak to a manager but I was never contacted by anyone and no manager was ever made available. I received no apologizes from anyone at the hotel and there were no courtesies extended. They were aware that I missed my nieces wedding ceremony because they were not prepared and no one cared. They were rude and basically told me that it was my problem and there was nothing that they could or would do about it. I have never had such terrible service. I will never stay at another Holiday Inn nor will I ever recommend that anyone stay at one. When someone is paying for a service you owe them a certain amount of courtesy. August 13, 2013

Staff was friendly, courteous, cheerful and always helpful...from the front desk, dinning room and lounge. I didn't encounter maid service. However, the room was always clean. One staff member remembered my name each day - another one from the dinning room remembered a particular order. Thank you for a pleasant stay. KUDOS to the staff. August 8, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable and average service Our bed and room were very comfortable. The hotel was booked for the weekend and it was our family reunion. While I understand it was a busy weekend, you should never run out of towels. I had to request towels 3 times. No continental breakfast and cannot get one in the hotel on Sunday mornings. For the amount of the rooms, there should be a breakfast included. July 28, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst of the Worst Stayed there for 2 nights. First day my wife and myself were out all day and returned late. When we returned our room was not even made, nor cleaned, no towels were changed. It was late in the evening so we had to sleep in our unserviced room. The room itself was not up to Holiday Inn standards. We told the Front Desk person on duty and asked to pass this along to the manager. Next morning spoke to the person on Front Desk and no note was left for the manager on our complaint. Tried twice from home on phone, left messages for Inn Manager to complain about our stay and left our home phone number for his response and discussion. NEVER RECEIVED A RETURN CALL !!!!!!!!!!! IN ALL THE HOILDAY INNS THAT I HAVE STAYED (PLATIUM MEMBER) THIS WAS THE WORST BY FAR OF> HOPE THAT THE MANAGER READS THIS AND FINALLY GIVES ME A CALL> I DO NOT RECOMEND THIS INN AND WILL NOT RECOMEND THIS INN TO ALL OF MY COLEAGUES AND BUSINESS ASSOCIATES. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Visited my daughter in Norfolk , I would like to thank Bruce , Kim and last but not least Sandra you made our 10 day stay in Norfolk even more enjoyable there was a greeting coming and going every time we walked thru the doors and made our room change when we needed an extra bed very simple . Kim makes the best margaritas in Norfolk , customer service from front desk to house keeping was top notch thank you all very much. Ps hopefully the next time I stay there I will get to park in the guest of the day parking spot lol .sincerely don. July 9, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by management needs a change The management that runs the property needs to be changed. The housekeeping was late, so I wasn't able to check into my room when I needed. The television didn't work, I couldn't order movies and staff came up twice to fix and couldn't. The rate for this hotel has to be location, because it leaves much to be desired. June 29, 2013

They are friendly and very helpful. The rooms are clean and nicely appointed. Having the 24-hour shuttle service, with pleasant, friendly drivers, to and from the airport is a plus since my flights home are always at 7 a.m. Definitely a good place to stay! June 15, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Lost glasses I left my brand new glasses on the dresser just before I was checking out around 1800 local time. When I arrived in Italy I called the hotel and ask the hotel Clark to check on my glasses, it took my three phone callea from Italy to find out if they have my glasses but the answer was " Sorry the house keeping did not found any thing" My question is I checkout 1800 local time and made the first phone call around 0900 local time the next day, I know for fact the room was not accoupied between 1800 and 0900. My question is where is my glasses? Not a honest hotel to stay in future. Thank you, May 14, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Staff Some of the best hotel staff I've had the opportunity to meet. I had great interactions with everyone myself. One of the coolest things I witnessed though was for some WWII/Korean Veterans that were having a reunion. As all the veterans filed off their chartered bus inside the hotel, the hotel staff formed two lines, waiving flags and cheering them all in. It was a pleasant welcoming and I'm glad their are still people in this world that show that kind of respect. May 14, 2013
