This appears to be an older property but is undergoing a total revitalization.
Room was clean and comfy. Not sure if that room had been redone yet. Furniture and etc appeared to be but not the wallpaper. hmmm..
Bathroom was clean as could be. Bed and pillows were excellent and isn't that what's important anyway?
Property appeared to be filled with party goers the night we stayed but front desk clerk put us in a very quiet area, thank goodness.

The staff were so kind and efficient that it made it worth the stay. The hotel is in repair, so it was not the most apealing to look at and the room was not well ventilated.

Wow!!! What a night. My wife and I were traveling to bring our daughter to Southern Connecticut State Univ. and decided to stay at the North Haven Holiday Inn. After a long drive from Philadelphia and arriving at around 9:00pm we just wanted to get a bite to eat and go to bed. When we arrived we found the hotel in diseray as it was having renovations done. After placing our travel items in our room we decided to stop at Harry's Restaurant, Connected to the hotel. The service and food was ok at best. It was at the dessert portion of our meal the the hotel fire alarm went off evacuating everyone for what seemed like a good hour or so. Upon returning to our room and finally getting to sleep it seemed like only minutes before the 4:00am freight train went barreling past our room. Windows shaking and sounds of thunder I could only feel like I was part of the "My Cousin Vinnie" movie. Needless to say we did not stay the second night and moved to another hotel. I want a refund!!!

We are currently on a road trip around New England and used this hotel as a convenient stopping place. From the outside the area does not look all that great but once you pull into the hotel parking lot then all is good. Upon checking in we were informed we were the guests of the day and would be upgraded to a Jacuzzi Suite as well as receiving a free breakfast. I was not aware Holiday Inn did this unless it's a local management thing but my wife and I were delighted. Although the hotel is in the middle of renovation our stay was perfectly comfortable with the absolute minimum of noise. The onsite bar was good with attentive staff. All in all great value for money and if we are ever back this way then would stay here again.

There was wallpaper being applied to the walls in the hallways. It was difficult to get down the hallways with luggage. The place smelled like wallpaper paste. There was apparently a few boys baseball teams staying at the hotel who thought it was funny to run up and down the hallways at 11:30 at night.

My only disappointment was that the hotel was being painted while we were there. We were not notified that there was renovation going on, especially painting. There are people in my family who are allergic to paint and so we had a hard time at the hotel.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, so that made up for the discomfort caused by the painting.

So quiet on the garden side. I never knew we were feet from the highway and commuter trains. Graceful & helpful staff. Earned points with the family. Can't wait to see the reno.

hotel was loud- could hear voices from next door rooms and in the halls. Room was old and run down looking. Sign said there would be no housekeeping prior to 9AM due to the noise but there was vacuuming outside my room at 8.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by CTMAN3 Conveniently located
Graciously greeted & checked in upon arriving, however was not recognized as a current Priority Club or IHG Rewards Club member.
The exterior & lobby appearance was excellent, however some of the hallways & rooms could use some sprucing up.
Carpet in room was extremely dirty & heavily stained. Some fresh paint & wallpapering would enhance the appearance. I noticed the light above bathroom sink was out & a loose wall outlet and informed front desk upon my departure.
On a positive note, the room & bed was comfortable, fantastic wi-fi & the swimming pool was excellent. Of all the hotels I've stayed over the years, this pool was top-notch.
I did not patron the restaurant, however many dining establishment were available within a reasonable distance from hotel. From reviewing the restaurant menu I consider the prices a bit high, however the restaurant in exceptional especially for those w/o transportation.
If in the area again, I'd stay @ this hotel as well as recommend it to others.

I stayed here for a few days and was actually in town making a short film. I needed help from the staff because I was from out of town and they couldn't be more helpful with everything. Everything was clean and in good condition, but the people were the best part of my stay.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by brideandgroom Wordy but worth reading
I have stayed at numerous Holiday Inns and have never had a bad experience except for the one located in North Haven. Location of stairs and elevator were not convenient, we had to walk halfway around the hotel each time we wanted to enter or leave our room.
The pool was not working for both days which was disappointing.
I booked a block of rooms for a wedding and would have to say that dealing with the hotel was one of the most stressful parts of planning the event itself. I frequently had guests calling me complaining about what happened when they tried to book in the block (ie no block under our name, no double beds available, etc...) all of these concerns were not what was discussed previously and I frequently had to call or email the corespondent I was working with in order for my guests to be able to book a room and to fix the errors. They also would only let me book a certain number of rooms when I requested more. She stated that once 80% booked they would add more rooms...this did not happen and guest called and were denied a room because the block was full. I called AGAIN and had more rooms added (no double beds available this time though). At the beginning of the process I was assured that the hotel that there would be plenty of rooms available even though I stated I was uncomfortable without the guarantee of having enough rooms in the block to cover my guests. And of course they did run out of rooms.
When booking a block they are the ONLY hotel we talked with who did not offer a free bridal suite for the bride and groom. The only amenity was if a certain number of rooms was booked we could get a standard room free or upgrade to the bridal suite for $50.
During our stay, the groomsmen got ready in the bridal suite, before leaving they called the front desk and asked for the room to be cleaned for when the bride and groom return that night. Upon arriving at the end of the night, they did drop off chocolate covered strawberries and champagne however did not clean the room. The room was a disaster; not what I wanted to walk into on my wedding night. When we called the front desk about this the response we got was "we have no staff at this hour to clean the room, we can bring you a towel"...we got one clean towel. And to top it off the jacuzzi tub in the bridal suite did not work either.
Their are a few good things I can say: The hotel did provide the gift bags for the guests in our block which was very helpful to us and we/and our guests did enjoy what was in the gift bags (champagne and chocolate) very nice!
And in the morning I spoke with the manager on duty who was very nice and she did did wave the $50 fee for the bridal suite.
Holiday Inn North Haven is the only hotel in the area, and they are lucky they are. If there were any other hotels around I would have cancelled my block and brought my business elsewhere because of all of the undue stress brought on during the planning process.

There was a God awful group of teenage baseball players from Long Island that took over the Inn. I stepped out to complain and was rewarded with continued running and loud talking with an added prank call at 1:00 in the morning. That was the first night. When returning to the hotel for the second night I expressed to the desk my hope for some sleep. They gave me a free drink.
Second night was worst than the first, however, this time I didn't try to take them on by myself. The night manager was very attentive to my two telephone calls complaining about the noise and personally talked to the inconsiderate teens. In addition, she slipped under my door a hand written apology note and adjustment on my bill along with breakfast coupons for two. Unfortunately the teens no longer shouted to one another in the halls but ran up and down the halls like they were escaping from the jaws of a tiger.
It was not a good stay but I truly was impressed with the night manager taking every step she could to calm things down. I believe she did her very best and what more can you ask for in a difficult situation. If I did not believe she was doing her best, this post would have been much different.

I had around 15 young teenagers destroy the pool area without their parents present for over an hour and a half which for the rest of the patrons took a look and walked away! Which the same unruly group ran around on the second floor slamming doors running up and down the hallways until 11:30 pm to where as the parents decided to throw a party in the parking lot just outside my window to at least 2 a.m. Because they could not smoke in their rooms they took it outside also slamming doors because they forgot their key cards to get back in i did not say anything to the front desk for fear of retaliation from said parties. I think all exits except front should have been completely closed off after 10 pm to all traffic to keep this from occurring again the staff was very nice and had no complaints for the room either i think better consideration should b looked at in allowing so many teenagers in without the same amount of adults. As well as security cameras to see whats going on un the halls as well as common areas such as the pool or vending? Thank you!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by photophreak WAY overpriced
The hotel and room do not come close to what I would expect based upon the price. There are no other hotels in the immediate vicinity and this one is capitalizing heavily upon that. Rooms are not ready at check in, rugs are stained, hair in bathtubs, pool towels in bathroom instead of bath towels. However, the staff are friendly and solicitous, if you can find them.
Overall, a total price gouge.

One thing I must say is this place in like a maze and very complicated just getting to the elevator. The rooms are average as was the check in and area in general. The place seems VERY old and moderately well kept. I would recommend, only if you have no other options.

This place has some really excellent staff. On my first visit, I remember Dawn, who really tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible. On my second visit, I am grateful to Shiraz for trying to make my stay as pleasant as possible. For some reason there was a misunderstanding with the free shuttle service they provide, but Shiraz offered to reimburse for the cab I took instead.

Recently stayed at the North Haven Holiday Inn and found the accommodations less than comfortable. Beds were very uncomfortable and the building itself was old and in need of an update. Training tracks right outside my window and the blinds did not block out the outside parking lot lights. Stayed with alot of other people from a wedding and needless to say that the bride and groom got stuck in the elevator for over 20 minutes. Enough said.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by LittleStevie Weekend Stay
I was nervous about staying at this hotel after reading two poor reviews on this site moments before arriving at the hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. I arrived very late in the evening, but was greeted by a friendly and alert employee at the front desk who checked me in quickly and offered me a complimentary snack and a bottle of water. I found my room in good condition. It was clean and had plenty of towels, soap, and pillows. My biggest concern, after reading a negative review, was that the internet would be less than adequate, since I would need to use the internet over the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised once more. The internet was fast, reliable, and easy to set-up. I did not have a single problem all weekend. At the end of my stay, I used the small business center to print my boarding passes and directions to the airport, and then literally walked out the door, taking advantage of Holiday Inn's speedy check out procedure. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in North Haven.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Ciarrrai North Haven, CT HI and the Internet
I am primarily a business traveler. This profile necessitates Internet access from any facility in which I stay in order to conduct business during the evening. Indeed, I average between 80 and 100 nights annually in Holiday Inns and Crowne Plazas for me alone. I also have a staff of three that also depend on HI and Crowne Plaza accommodations. Last week, 11/26 and 11/27, in particular, was a nightmare as lack of Internet access precluded me from working and resulted in my inability to meet a client deadline. I find this totally unacceptable regardless of the cause. That said, the hotel staff, although understanding and cordial, could do nothing to solve the technical difficulties. They actually agreed to pay for my dinner and offered some bonus priority club points, which was nice. Alas, it did not help save the client relationship. There are too many of your facilities in which the Internet access is unreliable. You must invest in more technology infrastructure. If there are no plans as such, please indicate this to me and I will subsequently plan accordingly.
