Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We love this place!! I have stayed at the Beverly Garland on two different trips and each time I have had the best experience ever. Your staff is wonderful. The food is wonderful. I will recommend the Beverly Garland to everyone I know! March 4, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Outdated The good:Stay was good. Bed was comfortable. Staff was helpful and friendly. Close to Universal Studios (and they have transportation there) and restaurants/entertainment. The bad: room was loud due to highway even though there was a letter saying they are getting sound proof glass doors. Carpet, A/C unit, and some of the other furniture looked/felt outdated. Bathroom was dirty (floor and in tub). A little upset I had to clean-up. I only did because I was too tired to get another room. February 24, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great location close to Universal Hollywood Shuttle to Universal Studios Hollywood was a great feature and one of the reasons we chose this hotel location. They also offered a reduced rate for State employees, which helped our vacation budget. Good location; nice features throughout the hotel--fireplace that was warm and welcoming; flavored water during the day and a pool. Rooms were a bit dated and could use some refreshing, but overall nice sized rooms for a family. Head Bellman, Andy saved us in a pinch and helped secure transportation that we had previously confirmed but did not arrive at the pre-arranged time. February 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Location location Perfect location if you are planning to visit Universal Studios area and North Hollywood (Griffith Observatory) the hotel is I am guessing from the 50's and it keeps the charm of the day. They offer a complimentary shuttle to Universal which is a plus. There's really not many places to go out for a nice dinner but the restaurant Tula right there in the hotel is a great option for a quiet dinner with excellent service. Overall a good combo price+service+location. February 20, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great experience Friendly staff felt very welcomed. Clean and spacious rooms with great amenities. February 20, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very confortable bed Excellent Hotel, good location, great service, very comfortable bed, February 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by The beds are sooo comfortable, you won't want to get up! We stayed at the North Hollywood location because it was close to a business meeting I was attending. So glad we did, because the beds were great, the comforter was wonderful. The only thing which I wish was different was the heater. I know this property is older, and the heater/ac is a wall unit but it's noisy and when the heat comes on it is dry hot air. The weather was particulary cold for LA, so needed the heater and we kept it at low as we could to avoid the blast of hot dry air The staff are wonderful, very helpful. Don't hesitate to try this location. A little suggestion; find another little coffee pot for the rooms, and use another type of instant. February 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by week-end getaway We enjoyed this location because it was close to Hollywood and we were looking for a place closer but the price for one night was too much. I found this location and it was just right the price and distance from hollywood. The room was beautiful and very quiet. We were able to get a late check and that worked for us. February 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Charming My husband & I reserved a room here as it was recommended lodging for a wedding close by. The hotel is very charming, renovated and comfortable. A great price point for a central location. We would definitely stay here again. Close to restaurants, shopping and airports. February 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Underrated Very comfortable Hotel and I believe hihghly underrated. Easy and convience access to Universal Studios (Shuttle service) and not to far from other "Hollywood" sites. The pool and excerise room......excellent. and maintained to a very high standard I believe. The staff couldn't have been nicer if they tried .....from the front desk to custodians. We even had to make use of the Laundry Room which was very convience. The on site Restaurant was excellent and surprising inexpensive and the Bar was very relaxing . I understand the noise factor from the freeway is an issue your addressing asap. Great! February 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really good value! Amazing Breakfasts. I was visiting family in Los Angeles. Decided to stay at the Holiday Inn - it had a great price and location. 1 block away is a Starbucks, 7-11 and small strip mall and it was in close distance from West Hollywood, Studio City, and Toluca Lake - all the places we needed to go. We had an amazing stay. Prompt service and the room was very clean. We always had new, fresh towels all the hotel perks around it. Something I was super impressed with which made our stay amazing was the room service. The breakfast was outstanding. The California omelete and Denver omelete was the best i've ever had. A serious great value. Also the pool and open space of the hotel made it feel more like a resort than a hotel. I highly recommend. February 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Universal Studio for good hotel Excellent hotel for Universal studios, but long way to airport $80 cab fare $98 from the docks. but you do get a free transfer to the U> S>. woukd use the hotel agsin if in the area February 12, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by N Hollywood I am a CA state employee plus a Priority Club member since 2008. I was assisted at the front desk by a gentleman. It was not acknowledged that I was a Priority Club member, nor was I given my ticket for a free breakfast in the morning that is given to all CA state employees. Other than that, the location is fabulous. I had a snack in the Lounge, which was very relaxing and non-intimidating. The personnel there was quite friendly and professional. The room was very clean and I had a terrific sleep. I guess the important things were all on the positive! February 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great choice for location and value We stayed two nights last weekend Feb. 1-2. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet, even on the side that faced the highway. It felt like a small resort. Pool area was nice. Tula's restaurant had excellent food. A little pricey but typical for a hotel restaurant and definitely worth the convenience. Easy to get on and off the 101. We would definitely return when we are in LA again. February 10, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Cleanliness was lacking When we got in to the hotel and we walked into the restroom in our room, there was hair on the floor and in our bathtub - not ours. Of course I know other people have stayed there, but I don't want to see remnants of their stay. Room service didn't come until after 3:00 on one of the days we were there, and then the next day they wanted in at 9:00am. Tula's food is VERY good - but they are not equipped to handle a lot of people coming from one of the conferences you might attend there. February 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice location for Universal Studios. A nice clean hotel just off the freeway. A few minutes on the free shuttle to Universal Studios. One day we walked to the metro and went downtown, the shuttle does drop off at the metro but it was a nice day and only a few minutes walk. From the metro station you can also get the free shuttle to Universal. The pool and spa are nice at night and there is piped music. The bar is pleasant and serves snacks if you don't want to eat in the restaurant. The only down side was a bit of noise from the freeway but it was not a big issue. February 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Food Service lacking This was the 2nd year the Hollywood Dance Experience used this location. The staff was friendly but ONCE AGAIN the hotel missed an opportunity to meet the needs of the dancers and their families when it came to food service. The dancers start at 8am both Sat & Sun.room service was unprepared for the volume. The dancers NEED to eat to be able to dance 6+ hours a day. They also need to start on time so it's imperative room service shows up on time. In addition other hotels sell coffee, fruit, granola bars, & juice during the day usually in a convenient location so the dancers can refuel. After a full day of dance there is an evening competition. No one has time for a full sit down dinner. It would be nice to have easy food choices for lunch & dinner available - sandwiches, pizza, salads - easy basic fare since the guests are usually young & need something fast. It just seems to me the hotel is missing an opportunity for increased revenue & it would make the experience SO MUCH nicer for the guests! February 1, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely rooms, comfortable beds, nice bar and restaurant. We stayed here 6 years ago, and decided to come back again this year with our partners, stayed 4 nights then left to go travelling, going back next week for the final 3 nights before flying home. Very handy for Universal Studios, also the free shuttle and if you ask the shuttle will drop you at the Metro near Universal, in one stop you are in Hollywood. January 31, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by quick overnight We booked this property for it's closeness to Universal and for price. The had a free shuttle to Universal on a regular schedule, and the drivers were lovely, helping us at one point to grab the other free shuttle to downtown LA to grab onto a Hop On Hop Off tour bus. The room we were in was well appointed, but no mini-fridge to hold our water bottles overnight. The beds were very comfortable and the hotel itself very clean. The young men at the front door were very helpful in their directions and suggestions for touring LA. Would definitely book again. We asked for quiet, and we got quiet. January 27, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good for Universal Studios This hotel is located just off US 101 about a mile from Universal Studios. They offer convenient, free shuttle to the Park which is a huge benefit. Not only do I not have to find the park, I also avoid the parking fee (about $17). As for the hotel itself, I am mixed. This property is an older one. It consists of multiple buildings. The grounds in between are nicely landscaped and pleasant to walk around. The pool area (outside) appeared to be inviting and relaxing. The room I received was an older one with cinder block walls and some wall dressings. The room was comfortable and met our needs. Still, it is an older room. The hotel did not provide a breakfast. Furthermore, they did charge a fee for parking. However, even though I was checking out the same day I went to Universal, I did not pay an additional parking fee and still got to use the shuttle. In all, I would consider staying here again if I were to return to the area. January 25, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Weekend Visit The property was nice and a good value. Enjoyed lunch in the restaurant. A couple of problems though. Our room was not serviced even after a request to have it taken care of. And the fact that they refused to switch the monitors in the bar to a sports event. We wanted to watch the 49ers-Falcons playoff game and instead took a few hundred dollars worth of business to a nearby bar when yours was empty, January 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Last minute stay Great staff and several amenities. Beautiful place!! Complimentary drinks for me and my husband. Would definitely stay again!! January 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay. everything was great , from the front dest to the service staff. room was a good size and very clean and tulas was a gem,we loved the food there, great service. we will be back. thank you all. January 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great choice! My daughter and I stayed here Jan. 2013. We were extremely pleased. Conveniently located, very comfy beds and pillows (pillows are important!), and friendly staff. Restaurant/ bar food and drinks very good and moderately priced. Would definitely stay here again. January 21, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Hotel convenient location Nice Hotel convenient location. No problems here, although the road noise can get a little loud if you sleep with the Air Con turned off. January 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet hotel and excellent restaurant The old cinderblock construction made for a quiet stay, and the food was the best I've ever had at a Holiday Inn restaurant. January 9, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable hotel in a very interesting area Comfortable hotel, with good service and excellent breakfast. January 8, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Stay at Holiday Inn Universal studio we stay at the Holiday Inn Beverley Garland Hotel for three nights recently. We booked the hotel online as it said it is close to Universal studio. It is a mid range hotel. we booked two rooms. They are fairly clean and beds are ok. One thing we dislike about the rooms is the air-cond were very loud and noisy. Its quite convenient to drive to LA downtown or other tourist areas. I would recommend if you are having a holiday without expecting luxuries during your stay. We did not try the hotel restaurant , so could not comment on that. January 6, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient location This hotel is conveniently located next to universal studios and it also has a free shuttle to universal studios which is nice. The hotel itself does need updating, it still has popcorn ceilings and peeling wallpaper but we were only staying one night and only slept here which was fine for my hubby and I. If your plan is to spend time at a resort this place may not be for you but it suited our needs for our trip. January 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel We loved the Decoy lounge and their happy hour speciasl! Breakfast at Tulles was wonderful too. The complementary shuttle to Universal Studios was wonderful and the pick-up and drop-off times were great. Our room was comfortable and appeared clean. It would have been nice to have a refrigerator in our room and an ice machine on every floor, but overall our experience was great!! I would definetely stay here again. January 4, 2013
