Ordered food at the same time & within 10 minutes of being in my room, it arrived. Gave me time to settle in. Food was hot & tasty. Same with breakfast. Fast service, efficient & again tasty. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Generally good but let down by the little things Booked an executive suite at a bargain price for a Saturday night birthday treat. Check in was friendly, and efficient. Room was as expected, very big, sofas, bath robes, etc - pity it was right next to the lifts with the constant whine of the lift motors during the day. OK at night. Might be an executive suite but you still only get minimal milk for tea and coffee! Decided to eat in and was pleased to see a weekend special menu at a very competitive £9.95 for two courses. Meal was ok but unimaginitive and let down by the warmest, flattest pint of Becks you could imagine. Sent it back, tried Stella which was cold and sparkling albeit served in a very ordinary pint glass. If my local can always serve Stella in a smart branded glass, why can't the Holiday Inn? Wine was overpriced. When the bill comes it had a 10% service charge added. And sure enough, there it is in tiny print on the menu. Intentionally small so it's not noticed. Yes, it is discretionary, but it should be my choice to reward good service, not have to ask for it to be removed. Checked at the desk on the way back to the room about the complimentary movie included in the package to be met with a blank face so had to fetch my tablet computer to show her the package on the Holiday Inn website! In the end didn't watch a film anyway but nevertheless.... Thought we might open the window a bit for fresh air overnight but discovered the window was screwed shut. Tried the aircon but the noise and the rattle would have kept us awake all night. Breakfast very good, young man in charge very efficient and on top of things. Room just big enough to cope with Sunday morning. Very pleased that breakfast is served until 11.00 am. Enjoyed our night away but could have been better. November 20, 2013

Staff were friendly and efficient where nothing was too much trouble for them. Not one bad comment from any of the 7 couples in our group. We would definately use this hotel again. The room was huge being an Executive room and the large lounge area was lovely so my son and daughter joined us for a games evening around the large table. We didn't eat at the hotel so I couldn't rate the food, the vending machine was reasonably priced. We were made to feel welcome and we were let into the room early as it was ready when we arrived. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bedford Road, Northampton Another excellent stay further enhanced with another excellent curry. Staff as always are friendly and helpful. Not offered anything in lieu of being a platinum member other than free internet connection, don't know if anything has changed. Used the gym again, which I enjoy, however it is extremely tired and is in desperate need of updating. The cross trainer clunks when you use it, the rowing machine doesn't fell as if it has been serviced in a while and there is little space to do anything once 3 or 4 people are in the gym. Please, please, please spend some money on the gym, it would certainly enhance the overall experience for me. October 15, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Food not Brilliant, Room Noisy My Husband & I stayed here for 1 night on 09/10/2013 whilst on a business trip. The Reception staff were excellent and very helpful, our room was spotlessly clean and tidy. There was a connecting door between our room (No.19) and next door, we could here the gentleman in his room he was very noisy. (Better sound proofing required) Our evening meal (Lasagne) was eatable but was made up with 1. layer of a Bolognaise sauce mixture and several layers of what looked like Cottage pie mixture, overall it had little taste. The following day my husband left for a meeting and I stayed in our room until vacating at 1pm. I asked the Restaurant Manager if I could have a bowl of Soup with bread. He seemed put out and asked if I was actually staying in the Hotel. The soup (Leek and Potato) was served with 2. part-bake rolls which were really hot but not cooked properly in the middle, I had to ask for a knife and butter. The soup was extremely salty but had no other taste. I sent it back and did not pay the £5.95 bill. We will be visiting Northampton on several occasions in the next few months but will not be staying at the this hotel again. October 14, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Large room, comfortable beds and friendly welcoming service. Had an excellent weekend which began with a stay at the Holiday Inn, Northampton. My young son was ill on the way to the hotel, and it being quite late on a Friday evening, we were all a little stressed when we arrived!! We were welcomed by the receptionist, who was very friendly and helpful. Our room had two double beds as I had booked quite late (and got a good deal.) The beds were very comfortable with a choice of pillows, the room was quite a lot larger than I expected, very clean and comfortable. There was a party in the restaurant area, but we were offered room service, which we didn't use as we had already eaten. Our room was very quiet, despite the party, and we all woke up feeling refreshed on Saturday morning. Breakfast was buffet style, with a large choice for myself, my partner and our 2 children. Overall, a great experience and I will definitely be booking again. October 9, 2013

Was woke up at 3.30 am with lots of talking and noise until 5.30 when they went to sleep Also the taps in the bathroom were not working properly October 2, 2013

Friendly greeting on arrival, which carried on throughout the stay - all staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. Room clean, bed comfy with choice of pillow (firm or softer), adequate wardrobe space, tv, kettle etc. Breakfast included in our price - a good choice of hot and cold buffet. Good value for money. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A most enjoyable stay, thankyou. Chose this hotel as it was quite close to Silverstone. Enjoyed every aspect of our stay, staff were great and food was really good! Personally I thought our bathroom could do with an upgrade-but it was more than serviceable. Will probably try to book-in for next year's MotoGP. September 5, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely Stay I stayed here with my wife and daughter, we booked a double room with breakfast, the room was very clean, and the service was very good from the reception, the hotel had a wedding on the same night, and there was no problems at all with noise, the breakfast was fantastic, much variety and plenty, the only downside i would say, was the WIFI, you had to pay, most hotels are free now,other than this, fantastic stay. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not the best stay! When I arrived in the room it was warm and stuffy, I opened the window and the noise from the traffic was unacceptable. Later in the evening I closed the window and tried the air- conditioning. It was extremely loud and rattled. Eventually, I could not stand the noise so turned it off, but it needed turning off at the mains to stop it whirring. I choose to have a bath and the controls changing to bath were obviously broken as water came out of the shower and the bath taps, resulting in me getting soaked. I am surprised that Holiday Inn charges for its Internet Access, even the budget hotel chains offer a period of time free, in a 24 Hour period. When I made a complaint at reception on departure I found their attitude unacceptable. No apology or any form of gesture of goodwill. I will not stay here again as I feel it does not offer good value. August 29, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by great staff we travelled to Northampton to attend our grandsons christening having stayed at the hotel previously we recommended it to family and we booked 5 rooms . on arrival a wedding was taking place ,not a problem apart from half of the guests were stood in the entrance smoking . we had booked a cot for one room wasn't there (staff did bring one quickly# we had requested quiet rooms #3 children and a 80 year old lady# 3 rooms were over the disco area and the noise could be heard #by the time we went to bed it was too late to start changing rooms) one room was on ground floor along from wedding reception . other room over hotel entrance which was used as a smoking area until early hours . children from the wedding ran amok around the hotel screaming and shouting and guests returning to their rooms were extremely noisy' we had travelled together and wished to eat but no dining was available ,apart from room service no use for 12 people in 5 rooms . weddings are booked well in advance and other people booking should be made aware that dining was not available and there may be added noise. the wedding guests were very rude and noisy and the hotel made no effort to quieten any of them or ask them to smoke away from the entrance . on leaving we did complain an apology was made but think as IHG members and frequent users of various Holiday Inn hotels we expected better service and a reduction in our bill August 22, 2013

We were very impressed with our room which was very clean and comfortable. We were very happy with the large screen TV and the lovely bathroom. The staff were very helpful and told us of everything that was available to use during our stay. August 15, 2013

I was lucky enough to be upgraded to Executive Suite which was excellent (more please). The food is always really very good, especially the curry selection and the awesome Na'an breads the make fresh on site (I wish they would offer a peshwari na'an option as well). The management team and all staff are really good and nothing is too much hassle for them. WELL DONE. August 14, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Old dated Rooms We arrived at approx 11pm,we were given our room key on the 2nd floor and found out that we had been given a double room instead of the family room that we booked,we had a 7 year old son who was extremely tired and just wanted to go to bed. I went back down to reception to ask to be changed to a family room which he did. Once in this room it was just so hot inside and the air conditioning unit was just SO noisy and not producing any cold air into the room unless you were stood over it. We went to open the window but found out it was covered in cobwebs and insects outside it so didnt have it open. I probably had about 3hrs sleep due to being so hot in the night and in the morning I had a 5hr journey down to Devon which I was so tired doing. There was no such thing as a goodnight guarantee like you get in other Hotels.We couldnt wait to get out in the morning and even went down the road for breakfast. I will not be staying or recommending this Hotel again. Very Dissapointed with Holiday Inn which are meant to be a great comfortable place to stay. August 5, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good reception staff Having been advised that the hotel had been overbooked, although I made the reservation in May, the staff at Northampton bent over backwards to make the new arrangements acceptable. In my view your hotel group need to look at both telephone bookings and customer service departments - I had no real assistance at all when contacting these departments concerning the changes. If local hotel telephone numbers are not to be easily found on your website your staff really do need to know where places like Northampton is situated!! August 2, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Check if there's a wedding on when you book We didn't check to see if there was a wedding on. As we needed a family room the only option left was right at the front of the hotel. We were already in the room when we realised it would be an issue and with three small kids too late to make alternative arrangements. Everything else was really good. The sound of the wedding disco did however keep us awake most of the night. July 28, 2013
