Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely Stay I stayed here with my wife and daughter, we booked a double room with breakfast, the room was very clean, and the service was very good from the reception, the hotel had a wedding on the same night, and there was no problems at all with noise, the breakfast was fantastic, much variety and plenty, the only downside i would say, was the WIFI, you had to pay, most hotels are free now,other than this, fantastic stay. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not the best stay! When I arrived in the room it was warm and stuffy, I opened the window and the noise from the traffic was unacceptable. Later in the evening I closed the window and tried the air- conditioning. It was extremely loud and rattled. Eventually, I could not stand the noise so turned it off, but it needed turning off at the mains to stop it whirring. I choose to have a bath and the controls changing to bath were obviously broken as water came out of the shower and the bath taps, resulting in me getting soaked. I am surprised that Holiday Inn charges for its Internet Access, even the budget hotel chains offer a period of time free, in a 24 Hour period. When I made a complaint at reception on departure I found their attitude unacceptable. No apology or any form of gesture of goodwill. I will not stay here again as I feel it does not offer good value. August 29, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by great staff we travelled to Northampton to attend our grandsons christening having stayed at the hotel previously we recommended it to family and we booked 5 rooms . on arrival a wedding was taking place ,not a problem apart from half of the guests were stood in the entrance smoking . we had booked a cot for one room wasn't there (staff did bring one quickly# we had requested quiet rooms #3 children and a 80 year old lady# 3 rooms were over the disco area and the noise could be heard #by the time we went to bed it was too late to start changing rooms) one room was on ground floor along from wedding reception . other room over hotel entrance which was used as a smoking area until early hours . children from the wedding ran amok around the hotel screaming and shouting and guests returning to their rooms were extremely noisy' we had travelled together and wished to eat but no dining was available ,apart from room service no use for 12 people in 5 rooms . weddings are booked well in advance and other people booking should be made aware that dining was not available and there may be added noise. the wedding guests were very rude and noisy and the hotel made no effort to quieten any of them or ask them to smoke away from the entrance . on leaving we did complain an apology was made but think as IHG members and frequent users of various Holiday Inn hotels we expected better service and a reduction in our bill August 22, 2013

We were very impressed with our room which was very clean and comfortable. We were very happy with the large screen TV and the lovely bathroom. The staff were very helpful and told us of everything that was available to use during our stay. August 15, 2013

I was lucky enough to be upgraded to Executive Suite which was excellent (more please). The food is always really very good, especially the curry selection and the awesome Na'an breads the make fresh on site (I wish they would offer a peshwari na'an option as well). The management team and all staff are really good and nothing is too much hassle for them. WELL DONE. August 14, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Old dated Rooms We arrived at approx 11pm,we were given our room key on the 2nd floor and found out that we had been given a double room instead of the family room that we booked,we had a 7 year old son who was extremely tired and just wanted to go to bed. I went back down to reception to ask to be changed to a family room which he did. Once in this room it was just so hot inside and the air conditioning unit was just SO noisy and not producing any cold air into the room unless you were stood over it. We went to open the window but found out it was covered in cobwebs and insects outside it so didnt have it open. I probably had about 3hrs sleep due to being so hot in the night and in the morning I had a 5hr journey down to Devon which I was so tired doing. There was no such thing as a goodnight guarantee like you get in other Hotels.We couldnt wait to get out in the morning and even went down the road for breakfast. I will not be staying or recommending this Hotel again. Very Dissapointed with Holiday Inn which are meant to be a great comfortable place to stay. August 5, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good reception staff Having been advised that the hotel had been overbooked, although I made the reservation in May, the staff at Northampton bent over backwards to make the new arrangements acceptable. In my view your hotel group need to look at both telephone bookings and customer service departments - I had no real assistance at all when contacting these departments concerning the changes. If local hotel telephone numbers are not to be easily found on your website your staff really do need to know where places like Northampton is situated!! August 2, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Check if there's a wedding on when you book We didn't check to see if there was a wedding on. As we needed a family room the only option left was right at the front of the hotel. We were already in the room when we realised it would be an issue and with three small kids too late to make alternative arrangements. Everything else was really good. The sound of the wedding disco did however keep us awake most of the night. July 28, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing experience We've been looking forward to stay at this hotel again as we had a nice stay few years ago. We booked/paid for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast through central reservation online - the rate description stated: fully flexible rate includes breakfast and three course dinner from set menu or buffet in a designated hotel. When we went to have dinner at the restaurant, we told the restaurant manager that we booked for DB&B and therefore asked for the 3-course set menu described above, we were told they don't have any but we can order from the standard menu with £18 allowance each. As we looked at the price, it was absolutely impossible to get a 3-course meal with £18. My husband did have a 3-course meal but I decided to just have a 2-course meal out of principle. At check-out, I mentioned this to the reception staff who then had a word with the duty manager who agreed to take £6+ off the dinner bill (the excess from £36 dinner allowance for 2). We felt that we were mislead, not getting what we expected to get for what we paid for. June 3, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dining surprise I probably should have read the small print but as i stay at a lot of Holiday Inn's and Express I thought breakfast was included, it was not . I asked if dinner was being served and I was told it was very busy and I would have to book, however there were not places until 8pm. As I had been out all day without a meal I asked if there was anything else local and was directed to a pub nearby. After showering I went down to leave for the pub but on looking into the dining room I saw only 8-10 dining in a room for 50, I was asked to come straight in, good job I looked, it was pouring with rain. Nice meal, excellent service, but not joined up with reception. June 1, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Room Very pleased with our stay. The wall-drop is tiny and not suitable if you staying long. Liked the idea of the fridge in the room with some space to keep own drinks cool. Wi Fi was excellent meant could be online all the time. Excellent secure parking. Wide variety on the menu but not impressed with the food we tried. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were great. Will almost certainly stay there again but will probably eat out. Chef went out of his way at short notice to do a cake for my wife's birthday. Extremely pleased and thankful about this. May 30, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not as good as it could have been I checked in on a Sunday night before a Bank Holiday and was greeted appropriately at the desk. At check-in I was advised that the restaurant was closed due to a party in progress but that I could still order Room Service without charge. The room was comfortable enough, as business hotels go, but the party had ostensibly taken over the bar area so there was nowhere to stretch out and relax with a quiet drink. I ordered food from Room Service, but there was no answer from the direct dial phone number so had to order via the Main Reception desk, and it took nearly 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Given the delay I was glad I had ordered a bottle of wine and not a single glass! I find it incredible in these modern times that large hotel chains can charge £13 to view a movie and for Wifi, when my local coffee shop, bar and restaurant all provide this service for free! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great service and food stayed at this hotel for a bit of r&r away from work on arrival got checked in no problems after getting to 2nd floor room the heating was not that good very noisey and the room was very cold so asked reception if it was possible to be moved they did that straight away to a ground floor room much better but the wall heater did clunk a bit through the night by the wind the food however was top notch along with the service the chefmade himself known and came to the table to make sure everything was ok nice touch all in all a very nice stay and will use again in june when visiting relatives just need to upgrade the heating system Ps. hope its not needed next visit April 6, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by wedding party noise There was a wedding reception in full swing when we returned to the hotel at night, with boom boom music going and people outside reception gathered to smoke and chat, outside our room. In the morning we were woken up by the constant "click click" of wheeled suit cases being dragged over paving slabs by guests leaving reception. Room 12 is strongly NOT recommended. Otherwise the hotel was what you would expect, and was good value. The hotel management should have put the wedding guests near to their own noise, people on the second floor heard none of this carry on. April 6, 2013

Whilst the hotel is not the best looking the facilities are good, the rooms clean and comfortable, communal areas tidy and inviting. There is a small gym, which although tired and a little run down, is functional. Food is exceptional, mostly cooked fresh. The Indian chefs have a small but excellent Indian menu with a new tandoori oven. The curries are superb and so is the service. I am a regular at this hotel and so may be slightly bias; but I believe it is worth a visit, if only for the curry alone. March 27, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Weekend break This hotel is a very nice hotel .i would strongly recommend this hotel on arrival I was immediately upgraded after I asked if any was available being a platinum club rewards holder.We were then offered a complimentary snack or drink from the fridge which I have never been offered at any other hotel.breakfast was nice and plenty of selection.i never ate at the hotel other than breakfast but did visit a local pub which there are 2 of within 5 mins walk.Just one downside was the local boy racers in the car park who I think must have been preparing for a day at Santa pod.I didn't feel it necessary to complain about this as the disturbance was only for about 20 mins.All in all this hotel is well located to the town centre but far enough away for a peaceful retreat and relaxing break. My recent booking was done through a new, corporate booking site that we now use & to my horror found that the email from this site to the hotel did not arrive. Consequently, there was no room at the Inn for me. The deputy manager, Rodwell, knows me as a regular customer & booked me in without hesitation, sorting out the problem the following morning with the booking site. This was excellent service & made me feel a valued customer. Well done Holiday Inn. March 17, 2013
