Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Deckard22 I'd recommend but...
Overall - I stay here on business. So the location is perfect, right next to hotel. No interest in the football or sight seeing aspects.
As a hotel, it is good. The food is fine and the people working here are lovely.
But - two things that need improvement are:
1. Wifi - why on earth would any hotel not offer this for free in guest rooms. It is free in the lobby/bar - but that isn't good enough. Wifi is not a luxury in this day and age and when people are away on business they want to keep in touch with their friends and family online. Or stream movies from love film etc. etc.
2. When you get in your room turn the air con off - it's England you dont need it and tbh I have never heard noisier air con - and I have travelled the world extensively. My opinion is based on stopping in lots of different rooms in this hotel, it's particularly loud in the rooms outside the lifts. I've read a response from the manger to someone else mentioning how loud it is and tbh it was a bit of a cringe-worthy response that kind of belittled what the reviewer was saying...
Other than that - the stay here is good and it doesn't cost the Earth.

From the reception as I checked in, I was so much in a rush as I wanted to pick up my rental car dropped off for me , the staff were so helpful in sorting me out.
At dinner the staff was so warm , friendly, understanding and patient in allowing you time to make up your mind with meals.
They also had good knowledge of what was being served and the options available.
Kudos and thanks.

Stayed for two nights, to watch a Norwich City F.C game. The room was better than I expected and the bed was very comftable. The staff/Reception were very kind and always covered our needs. We only did room service once but it was spot on.
The food was great, except that I think they should've had a larger choice for the menu.
The experience was brilliant and I would recommend this place, I will be coming back down again.
Great staff, great rooms, great hotel.

I received a wonderful welcome and a very efficient check-in. The room was comfortable, very clean and well-appointed. This hotel is directly alongside Norwich City football ground and there was a match scheduled during my stay. I was warned about this, told the times it was likely to be most busy so I could arrange my schedule accordingly, and my friendly receptionist hoped that it wouldn't adversely affect my stay. A very enjoyable and relaxing stay, made all the more so by the professional and attentive staff. One tiny niggle was the queue and 10 minute wait to check out (I'd suggest that one person on reception on a Sunday morning may not be enough, though the receptionist was characteristically pleasant and apologetic).

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Corin let down by the wi-fi
I regularly stay at the Holiday Inn Carrow Road and think the hotel is of a good standard and the staff are always helpful. If only the wi-fi was better in the public areas, it is the one thing that lets the hotel down

The bed was very hard, but when we went to reception they added a topper which made the bed slightly softer. We have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions and find the staff very friendly. If you had a problem they would come and sort it out straight away.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by percy55 1st class in everyway
we have stayed at the holiday inn on Carrow road many times over the last 6 years, mainly for the football but also for leisure and very often for the twixmas break.
we have always found the staff very freindly and we have always been made very welcome, everybody is there to help including the cleaners, bar & restaurant staff, reception & management.
on match days when the hotel is very busy we as hotel guests are always given priority on service over non staying guests.
the Carvery is excellent value and the food is of a very high standard & the service 1st class.
the rooms are as clean and comfortable today as when the hotel 1st opened 6 years ago, the hotel is looked after and run very well indeed.
Well done to all concerened !

Arrived at 9:30 in the evening after a four and a half hour train journey. The weather was very poor, there was snow outside the hotel and the temperature was bitter. So was hoping, for me and my business travelling companion, for a cheery welcome. So having to wait whilst the desk staff finished his work, then answered another telephone call then to be presented with a couple of room keys, albeit with a smile, was a bit less than I hoped for. No Platinum Priority club welcome, nix, nada.
Comfortable rooms, nice bright hotel ambience, good breakfast, cheery bar staff all created a positive outlook and we enjoyed our stay.
Checkout: No 'did you enjoy your stay', no 'thanks for staying with us', no 'goodbye'. Just a simple bill payment and exit.
I would stay at the hotel again and I would recommend to a friend. But I would like the front desk to operate like other Holiday Inn Group hotels. Not gushing, not over the top, just friendly.

We've stayed in several hotels on our trips to Norwich and the last four times have been at the Holiday Inn, Carrow Road. We find the rooms and service first class and the cost of the room very competitive so now never even look at booking anywhere else!

As a Writer, it is important to me to be able to rely on a Hotel where I can work uninterrupted in a quiet yet professional atmosphere with the option, if needed, of seeing clients and contacts in a similarly reliable environment.
The Holiday Inn at Norwich City fits my needs perfectly.
The rooms are spacious, contemporary, well stocked and scrupulously clean-and the bed? I wish I could bring it home with me! The staff are all, without exception, bright, friendly/cheerful and very professional in all that they so, able to make you feel important and valued without being obsequious.
The bar and surrounds are clear, roomy and a place where you are perfectly confident of being able to invite a guest or colleague and not feel self-conscious about any aspect of your surroundings.
The Hotel does what it does-the surrounds are not spectacular and the building design is practical rather than ornate. However, it is what happens at the heart of the Hotel which matters here, not its facade. That is, as far as Norwich is concerned for me, of unparalleled quality.

I stop at this hotel at regular intervals and find the staff really friendly, approachable and professional. The hotel itself is nestle onto the football ground, with the rear of the hotel giving great views on the pitch. If you're lucky you may even catch a match!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ChrisBD Excellent Hotel a credit to all of the staff
My wife and I where in Norwich for a friend's surprise birthday party. The hotel forms part of the Carrow Road Stadium with splendid views of the pitch, which must be heaven for football fans. The hotel is fairly new so the standard of decor is excellent. All of the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We were in a standard twin double room which was spotless and spacious, likewise the bathroom with a bath long enough to stretch out in! Breakfast was standard fare and the breakfast room well managed. For a mid range hotel the standard of service, accommodation and facilities are excellent , a real credit to the efforts of the staff and IHG.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Chelmsford2 don't expect everything to be available...............
we wanted to eat in the restaurant and was told that the restaurant was open but only serving a very limited menu (in fact the same as room service as it was between Christmas and New Year. We wasn't told on checking in and only found out by a very 'surly' bar staff employee.
Also the bar was full of very loud and drunk football fans so if you want to avoid this don't go when the team are playing at home.
Breakfast was a nightmare - waited an age for tea/coffee then 2 pots turned up!!!!!!!!! food was ok but not very hot.
Not the place for a romantic weekend away especially on match days.
Was told the town was 10 minutes - we didn't stroll and it took a good 20 minutes.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Norfolk22 Good hotel
Very impressed with the hotel itself - the staff were all very friendly, the rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable. I was particularly impressed by how quiet it was, you couldn't hear any noise through from adjoining rooms which was lovely. Also liked the choice of firm and soft pillows, a nice touch.
The only thing I was disappointed with was the breakfast - there was a good choice of food, however the sausages were pink inside and I decided it was safer not to eat them. Would also like to see dairy free spread if possible.
Otherwise, good hotel I would go to again (but probably wouldn't have breakfast!)

Five of us stayed here as we were going to a wedding, pre booked and also managed to arrange early book- in so we could get ready for the wedding. Our room was big and roomy and partly overlooked the football stadium, everything was available and clean. The air conditioning does make a terrible noise so rememeber to switch it off if you stay here. the bathroom wasnt huge but it was adequate, the drain in the sink had a fault and it took forever to empty but reported this on check out which they said they would look at. Didnt have a great sleep as the bed wasnt very comfy, and did seem to slope into the middle.
Arrived back at the hotel before midnight on new years eve, and ordered a sandwich, it was very basic on two slices of white bread with a few crisp in a little pot certainly wasnt worth almost six pounds!!. When we asked for the tv to be turned over and up so we could watch the countdown to midnight the barman did it but a little begrudgingly.
The breakfast wasnt the best I've had I didnt like the sausages (possibly lincolnshire) and there were no fried eggs, everything was hot though.
Overall it wasnt too bad, but compared to another Holiday Inn Ive stayed at it did fall short of what I was expecting but I will stay at Holiday Inn's in the future.
