As a Writer, it is important to me to be able to rely on a Hotel where I can work uninterrupted in a quiet yet professional atmosphere with the option, if needed, of seeing clients and contacts in a similarly reliable environment.
The Holiday Inn at Norwich City fits my needs perfectly.
The rooms are spacious, contemporary, well stocked and scrupulously clean-and the bed? I wish I could bring it home with me! The staff are all, without exception, bright, friendly/cheerful and very professional in all that they so, able to make you feel important and valued without being obsequious.
The bar and surrounds are clear, roomy and a place where you are perfectly confident of being able to invite a guest or colleague and not feel self-conscious about any aspect of your surroundings.
The Hotel does what it does-the surrounds are not spectacular and the building design is practical rather than ornate. However, it is what happens at the heart of the Hotel which matters here, not its facade. That is, as far as Norwich is concerned for me, of unparalleled quality.

I stop at this hotel at regular intervals and find the staff really friendly, approachable and professional. The hotel itself is nestle onto the football ground, with the rear of the hotel giving great views on the pitch. If you're lucky you may even catch a match!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ChrisBD Excellent Hotel a credit to all of the staff
My wife and I where in Norwich for a friend's surprise birthday party. The hotel forms part of the Carrow Road Stadium with splendid views of the pitch, which must be heaven for football fans. The hotel is fairly new so the standard of decor is excellent. All of the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We were in a standard twin double room which was spotless and spacious, likewise the bathroom with a bath long enough to stretch out in! Breakfast was standard fare and the breakfast room well managed. For a mid range hotel the standard of service, accommodation and facilities are excellent , a real credit to the efforts of the staff and IHG.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Chelmsford2 don't expect everything to be available...............
we wanted to eat in the restaurant and was told that the restaurant was open but only serving a very limited menu (in fact the same as room service as it was between Christmas and New Year. We wasn't told on checking in and only found out by a very 'surly' bar staff employee.
Also the bar was full of very loud and drunk football fans so if you want to avoid this don't go when the team are playing at home.
Breakfast was a nightmare - waited an age for tea/coffee then 2 pots turned up!!!!!!!!! food was ok but not very hot.
Not the place for a romantic weekend away especially on match days.
Was told the town was 10 minutes - we didn't stroll and it took a good 20 minutes.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Norfolk22 Good hotel
Very impressed with the hotel itself - the staff were all very friendly, the rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable. I was particularly impressed by how quiet it was, you couldn't hear any noise through from adjoining rooms which was lovely. Also liked the choice of firm and soft pillows, a nice touch.
The only thing I was disappointed with was the breakfast - there was a good choice of food, however the sausages were pink inside and I decided it was safer not to eat them. Would also like to see dairy free spread if possible.
Otherwise, good hotel I would go to again (but probably wouldn't have breakfast!)

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mazzie30 average stay
Five of us stayed here as we were going to a wedding, pre booked and also managed to arrange early book- in so we could get ready for the wedding. Our room was big and roomy and partly overlooked the football stadium, everything was available and clean. The air conditioning does make a terrible noise so rememeber to switch it off if you stay here. the bathroom wasnt huge but it was adequate, the drain in the sink had a fault and it took forever to empty but reported this on check out which they said they would look at. Didnt have a great sleep as the bed wasnt very comfy, and did seem to slope into the middle.
Arrived back at the hotel before midnight on new years eve, and ordered a sandwich, it was very basic on two slices of white bread with a few crisp in a little pot certainly wasnt worth almost six pounds!!. When we asked for the tv to be turned over and up so we could watch the countdown to midnight the barman did it but a little begrudgingly.
The breakfast wasnt the best I've had I didnt like the sausages (possibly lincolnshire) and there were no fried eggs, everything was hot though.
Overall it wasnt too bad, but compared to another Holiday Inn Ive stayed at it did fall short of what I was expecting but I will stay at Holiday Inn's in the future.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by davy1946 wireless, dining area
the Hotel was comfortable .very clean staff were helpful and courteous ,it would have been much more comfortable if you did not have to go to the lobby to get wireless internet .it is in the hotel so how come not in the hotel rooms ,,
Also the dining room was uncomfortable sitting so close to people all in a row. The dining room leaves a lot to be sorted out, so one can eat breakfast with your family and not staring at each other because conversation cannot be private .THESE ARE MY CONCERNS AS TO IF WE WOULD STAY AT THE SAME HOTEL AGAIN

My second stay within six months and again I can give only praise to all of your staff.
I have not heard a single moan or groan from any of my work colleagues only that people had a really great time.
The food and service and following entertainment were all excellent.
I am looking forward to the summer of next year when hopefully we will be having a boat trip and party the night away in Norwich.
I would also like to add further that both visits to Norwich for pleasure rather than work have been superb. The people of Norwich are so friendly it makes it so much easier to relax.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by AJMUK Nice hotel but .....
Enjoyed the stay in the hotel except for shocking attitude towards blue badge holders. There are plenty of blue badge spaces but they let them fill up with non blue badge holders. Breakfast very average. If you have a room facing the football pitch at this hotel, expect lots of wind noise.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Christianb Not that faboulous
The bedside tables were dirty and we had to clean them ourselves before feeling comfortable. The bed was wrongly made, we had to redo it. Not that it was that important but as a Priority Club Gold member, i normally get some little extra which was ignored here. Maybe it had to do with us booking through Ryanair but as I showed my card at check-in, they were not flexible to change. We stayed three nights and the prices were nearly simple to double from one night to the next. I still recommend it for its location and the bar but calling it marvellous or fabulous was not the case when we stayed. They also could not help with a plug converter to continental plugs which is normally not an issue in hotels rated 8.8.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by EdCL Consistently Excellent
I travel a lot to Norwich and Norfolk in general for work and often need to be away for 4-5 days at a time.
It had always been my intention to sample as many of the counties hotels and inns as possible whenever I did so. However, after my first trip at the Holiday Inn @ Carrow Road I saw no reason to go anywhere else.
The Hotel delivers everythng that I need to a very high standard-and consistently so.
The rooms are spacious, contemporary and comfortable.
The food/drink is excellent, the range of the former having just been expanded.
The staff are all friendly and approachable, no matter what the reason, query or, in my case, occasional silly question that I should probably know the answer to!
For working its ideal: the restaurant and bar area and immeditely adjacent to it is ideal to meet clients and work whilst having a drink or snack. The broadband signal is strong, indeed, the reception for this in the rooms has been much improved of late: although it would be nice to be wi-fi in the room, rather than having to access a USB cable.
For relaxing, again, its ideal. Plenty of space and options within the City are a quick walk away.
The Hotel is part of a large chain but has the feel of a privately ran establishment where every customer is made to feel special, welcome and valued. I will return throughout 2013, of that there is no doubt.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Burphy Good all round apart from.......
Stay here often, like it very much and although the food looks good we cannot bring ourselves to eat in the very bland canteen like restaurant. The tables are too close togather in regimental rows, very unappealing to a couple who wish to have an intimate dinner. We do breakfast occasioally but are in and out in about 10 mins.

We stayed here for 3 nights in October and found the hotel to be clean and well maintained.
The staff are excellent, nothing was too much trouble for them and they were always bright and cheerful.
The food was very good, nice size portions and nice and hot. Waiting staff and bar staff were very good too.
All in all I would highly recommend this hotel.

This is our second stay at the holiday inn in norwich,we enjoyed the hotel as it was all very smart,we stayed in room 512 which was very spacious. The parking was good and we enjoyed a very nice evening meal served by a very pleasant young man.My only concern was at breakfast we asked to eat our meal in lounge as I do like a lot of space around me,the tables were set for breakfast but the man said he had to fill the dining room first as others would want to sit in the lounge as well,I did say I did not like the dining room but he would not give in and gave us a round table by the window,my breakfast was not enjoyable and I thought this man was not very obliging,we love holiday inns and its the first time we have ever met a staff member like him.

Reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful, beds were very comfortable and rooms were spacious and clean (There was plenty of room for the travel cot). We paid for breakfast within the price of the room, which turned out to be very reasonable. Would definately recommend this hotel.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Postie126 Mixed feelings
The staff were friendly and helpful, the room confortable and clean.
My first reservation was around the TV facilities, as a deaf person I need subtitles on a TV - this wasn't available. Bot the desk offered and obtained for me a special alarm clock/fire alarm.
Thw second was the ironing board collapsed as soon as any weight was put on it. I finished my ironing kneeling of the floor (well it was only a light press of three shirts). I mentioned it at the desk and a new ironing board was delivered - still it could have been dangerous with a hot iron.
The third was the food - my first night evening meal was poorly made and unpleasant to taste - and I regret I didn't complain at the time.
The buffet breakfast was average, but the menu choice I selected on my last day - Eggs Benedict was nohing like any Eggs Benedict I have eaten before.
So really mixed feelings.

Having normally stayed in Duke Street, Norwich, I had to change hotels due to not being able to park my vehicle there, as I was bringing furniture up for my son in a large van. My wife had an offer to stay at the hotel, so we decided to try it. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and I was personally showed where I could park the vehicle. The rooms were very spacious, tidy, clean and the beds comfortable. Also as far as my wife was concerned the room was blacked out during the night, which meant she was able to sleep, which is not always the case in some hotels. The food at breakfast was fresh and hot with service being swift. We will certainly have to re-consider where we now stay the next time we visit Norwich as we would recommend people to stay here.
