Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by More staff needed The hotel is clearly an older model, but still looking pretty good for her age!, the rooms are a little tired but absolutely fine. Staff were overall very friendly but the restaurant was a bit shambolic. Food was really nice, and presented very hot indeed, but I waited for 25 minutes for the bill before giving up and walking out. I did mention upon checkout that I owed for some drinks but was unable to make the receptionist understand, she was very friendly but seemed distracted. Breakfast was also challenging, at no point was I offered a second cup of coffee and my table was not cleared at all, there was very little room left at the end of the meal with 4 plates and dishes piling up! This is a very good location and, with a bit of staff training ( or maybe some additional staff), would be very good indeed. July 13, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Its suprising how one member of staff can ruin a reputation. I have stayed here a few times before. Has always been good until now. One member of staff was rude, in-attentive, stood close to me to try and intimidate me and ruined the stay. I went to the pub down the road where I was treated really well, the food was better quality and cheaper. I spoke to the manageress who said she would email me an apology and a free night on them to try and show how good they are. I got no email and no free night. I will not return. It's a shame because the breakfast staff are superb. July 7, 2014

I travel from Essex and have stayed continuously at this hotel since October 2012 to date. The hotel is easy to find just off junction 25 of the M1 .Despite being close to the M1 it is very quite. You cannot hear the M1. The hotel it is surrounded by well kept grounds and parking is excellent so don't worry about not getting a space when arriving late. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and there is always a welcome. I have stayed in single rooms and doubles and they are very clean and comfortable. The food I have found always excellent as is the service, including room service. The price is very reasonable. June 30, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ok if you can't find anywhere else This is an ok hotel. I found reception staff very unknowledgeable and unhelpful. I had booked the room with a work credit card but somehow the room hadn't been paid for when I came to check out. On a previous Holiday Inn stay booking in the same way wasn't an issue. The guy on reception didn't understand what I was saying and he was very difficult to understand. The food was not great. I had a nice starter but the vegetarian main course was so horrible I couldn't finish it. June 16, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Average.. This was first experience staying in holiday inn UK. Usually stay at the express and shall continue to do so.. Nothing particular wrong with the hotel itself but with the holiday inn express you get a lot more as standard where the holiday inn charges you extra... Wifi you need to pay for, breakfast you need to pay for, you get tiny bath foam and shampoo bottles just enough for one shower and feels and smells very cheap where as you have the lux dispenser in the express and if you use the bar facilities in the holiday inn express you get 10% discount and complimentary news paper being an IHG card holder which the holiday inn will not honour just get the points for the stay. Like I say the hotel was what I expected in customer service and cleanliness but very poor value for money compared to the holiday inn express.. June 12, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointment I have to say, as a Platinum member I spend a lot of nights in hotels, not just in the IHG group but many other chanis and this was by far the worst hotel room I have slept in the UK. Wanted a double room, got a single, evidently the hotel was full, no upgrades available and I had booked weeks in advance! You could virtually touch by sides of the room, was like a shoe box! The walls were that thin you could hear everything the people in the room next door and the one above were doing in their bathroom. Needless to say a very poor nights sleep, also asked for a bottle of water at reception before I went to my room at 10:00pm, only to be told they would bring it to my room, so I waited 50 mins until I called them asking where it was, 15 mins later it turned up (to think they could have handed it to me across the desk!) Staff very unsympathetic on reception that evening, not what I have come to expect from IHG brand. Sorry to say, but this hotel needs better management! May 17, 2014

Free parking Negative: Not greeted as a rewards member No offer of a paper / wakeup cal,l complimentary drink or 300 points . Smallest room I have ever stay at Holiday Inn Incorrect invoice at end of stay. Had food £185 same evening I ate in restaurant. Added to bill. After talk with the manager had that removed. Unable to print a vat receipt. Was told it would be emailed. Never was until I rang hotel direct 2 days later. Would stay at another Holiday Inn location next time. May 16, 2014

This has happened before with hotels just off the motorway. Directions of how to get to you should be included in your confirmation of the reservation. May 9, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quite and comfortable The hotel was quite and the rooms were a good size, all of the equipment worked correctly. I ate in the bar each night, the service was quick and the food was good, only problem, I was unable to have breakfast as each of the mornings I had to leave before 7:00 and breakfast is not served that early. I use the hotel whilst I was at Donington Park for an event, it's a little bit further away but there's no problem with parking and it doesn't cost £5 a night either! May 8, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic breakfast, great service, lovely room We stayed at Derby Holiday Inn the night before going to the open day at The University of Derby. We got there very late, but the reception staff were super polite, and helpful. Room was very clean, and a nice comfy bed, with a choice of pillows. Breakfast was great! Loads of choice, plenty for everyone, without lots of waiting around for extra toast or juice. Beautiful fresh croissants, fruit and a choice of juices. If my son chooses Derby, we'll be coming here regularly! Thanks April 19, 2014

However adding breakfast to the bill brings the bill up sharply and the deals available for double rooms with food do not equate to a single room. April 17, 2014

Dinner was good as was breakfast with attentive staff and a good choice. FREE WIFI is very much the norm in most good business hotels these days and was even available during my previous nighs stay in a Holiday Inn Express - the receptionist did advise me that it was coming in June but on the day that didn't help my requirement. Will use again but only after June!! good work but keep improving. March 9, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by All staff very cheerful, helpful, efficient and positive. As a couple we have stayed at more the 20 Holiday Inn's or Group hotels over the years. We were both very pleased with all aspects of the hotel (and staff attitudes) during our Feb/Mar 14 3 night stay. It was very difficult to identify even a minor adverse point. The food was good value with the breakfasts providing plenty of choice. Breakfasts were always fresh. We will come back again in the summer for a longer stay. The hotel is also in an excellent geographical location for accessing various places of interest (and shopping). We gave positive feedback to the staff during our stay.
