After a horrible night in a horrible hotel the night before, I called this Holiday Inn where we had a reservation to see what the early check in policy was because we couldn't stand another minute where we were. I was greeted on the phone by the nicest gal. I told her my problem and she was very sympathetic. It was 9:00am and we were an hour an a half away. She told me they would have something ready for us when we arrived. She said it may not be the room we had reserved but they would have something. We didn't care! We would take anything at that point.
When we arrived we couldn't have been treated any kinder. Plus they had the room we wanted ready! I can't express enough how good this made us feel.
The property is very well maintained and comfortable. We would (and will) stay there the next time we are in the area. Thanks!

I am a priority member and was treated top notch.
welcomed in by name given suite upgrade and of course free breakfast and 2 drink coupons , for my wife and myself.
The breakfast as usual was excellent. the whole staff treats you as though you were a family member.
I have stayed at this holiday inn before and always very pleased.
I will stay here again as i have family and friends in the area.

Checked in and was greeted by name and with a free room upgrade, bar drinks and a goodie bag. The room was clean and well kept. Breakfast was also excellent and a lot more than most hotels I have stayed in. Wonderful experience with a fabulous and friendly staff.

the lock bolt was not operable. I didn't bother changing rooms because the swivel safety lock worked.
I would recommend because it's convenient to our headquarters that I travel to, but the hotel is still rundown in spite of all the recent work performed over the past couple of years.

I wrote the reviews below identified as Mike10980 (11/29/12) and Mike 10022 (03/03/13). I am a Priority Club member, gold level. So I frequently stay at various Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express properties every year.
The second review has a reply from the property stating the mentioned issues will be dealt with accordingly. Well, here is how they were dealt with.......
As for two people staying in a room and receiving only only one drink coupon, now only the Priority Club member receives a drink coupon. Well, both my wife and myself are Priority Club members but why argue the point with the young man at the desk, he is simply following orders. The management has decided to permit one drink coupon per room per stay. The same with the "free" breakfast, one per room per day. So if two people are staying in the room only one person receives a free breakfast, this seems very odd. Yes indeed, this is real progress. In lieu of a second drink coupon or breakfast for anyone staying in the room, Priority Club members now receive a gift bag as a sign of thanks for their continued loyalty. The bag contains a bottle of water and a bag of Cheetos. The Cheetos are the small bag, usually seen around Halloween, cost about a nickel. Also, the rooms in the Executive Wing are all supplied with free bottles of water. So what are you really receiving? My opinion is you are receiving nothing.
I liked the one free drink, per person, at each stay. I also liked the free breakfast for all people checked into the room. I believe this small token did show that the individual property valued Priority Club members and guests in general. We have visited this property approximately four times per year, multiple day stays, for the past four years. We are now rethinking this, our next visit to the area is in the month of May, probably for three or four nights. As there are a number of hotels/motels, that include breakfast for EVERYONE staying in a room, not just the person presenting the credit card, we may look to stay elsewhere on our next visit to the area.
Also, we were at this property(Orangeburg) during the fire that is mentioned in another guest's review. The fire interrupted our breakfast, and hurried us out of our room earlier than we would have liked and normally left for our day's activities. This other reviewer stated they were somehow credited upon check out. I specifically asked the clerk when we were checking out if the hotel was doing anything for the guests who were inconvenienced by the fire. I was told that the fire was beyond the control of the hotel so the hotel was not responsible and therefore was not doing anything. Really? One guest is credited, another gets nothing? Both of the guests are Priority Club members? Also, I was told the fire was in a service room of some sort. So the fire occurred in a room that is exclusively under the control of the hotel personnel.

Even though we had to evacuate the hotel due to a fire the front desk clerk was nice enough to take my bill for the stay and when it was safe to return he looked up my priority club number and credit me for the stay.

This hotel is comfortable, reasonably priced and a short drive to Manhattan. Overall it is a good value. We stay at this property a few times every year. We prefer this hotel over the nearby Hilton.
A couple of suggestions, the bathroom could be brighter to assist the ladies when applying their makeup, doing their hair, etc. If not the bathroom then possibly install brighter bulbs at the desk. I understand conservation and all that goes with it, but the room, overall, could be a bit brighter.
As a PriorityClub member we received a ticket for breakfast for both guests staying in the room. The tickets were good for breakfast over the weekend. Why when checking in do I receive only one drink coupon? There are two people staying in the room, this is indicated on the reservation, but only one drink ticket? I mentioned this at the start of one stay, was quickly given a second ticket and lead to believe this was an oversight. This latest stay when I mentioned it the young man behind the desk just laughed, no comment, no explanation, just a laugh.

Members of our family have stayed at this property on many occasions in recent years while visiting a sick relative in a near-by nursing home. In this case, it turned out to be her final illness. The staff was just wonderful in taking care of our special needs after her death with great consideration as we received visitors to console us. The staff at this Holiday Inn are caring people. Thank you very much.

I booked an executive room with king size bed and got a standard room with 2 single beds. I told the issue to the staff and they told me that they would get back to me and 3 days lates they did advising me that all th executive room were booked. Not very please of the follow up update 3 days later which I was leaving the next day
food is great and bar staff very nice. I stayed there several time and it is the first time I ran into this kind of isssue.
I will recommend this hotel it only happen once and hopefully will not happen again

The room was on the first floor and the sliding window was not lockable. I was transfered to another room but the remote and TV was not sync and the room temperature control was only in manual and I have to physically have to get up and turn it "Off" if it get to hot so I checked out the next day. I was told they have a couple rooms like that. I have stayed there before and had no problem so I am not sure what happen. Staffs are great and responsived. They just need to go over each room and QC to determine things to repair.

Had the chance to stay at this property during the celebration of the New Year. The staff was attentive and our stay was excellent. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that room service was available New Years Day and quick! Will stay here again in the future and will reccomend it to our friends.

the room was great the staff very well trained and pleasant

We stayed for several nights while visiting NYC. We stayed in a room in the Executive Wing, with a king sized bed.
The room was nicely furnished, two suggestions: better quality toilet seats are needed. The current seats are loose and move. Also, ladies may have a somewhat difficult time with makeup as there are no bright lights in the room, only the energy saver bulbs everywhere.
The front desk staff was great and very efficient, the waitress at the breakfast was very pleasant and efficient.

This hotel is in desparate need of room rnovations. the exterior and main lobby is fine but the rooms are garbage! The bathroom door was very rusty and painted over. Out dated bathroom tile from maybe the 70's ?!? The front desk atendant in the morning was sleeping in the chair behind the desk. The staff never recognize you as a platinum member. Over all very disappointed........................

This recently-refurbished building is attractive, nicely appointed, and clean; however, there are occasional problems as the building itself is old. Fortunately service is good, and occasional difficulties are usually quickly and pleasantly rectified. Furthermore, corporate customer service is very responsive.
For Priority Club members:
Expedited check-in with complimentary glass of wine
Complimentary weekend breakfast; previously offered weekdays only. Buffet style with fresh fruit, eggs, bacon . . . convenient and quick!

The mini refrigerator in my room was not cold. I adjusted the dial and waited 24 hrs, but it never got cold.
I only needed to keep bottled water & cookies in it, though.

Just a few minor comments that would have made this a 5 Star rating for me.
#1 the In-Room Coffee set up is simply low end and needs an upgrade. The cord was so short I had to unplug the unit to fill it then plug it back in. The coffee was poor tasting.
#2 The staff twice entered the room without knocking
#3 For what it was, the breakfast should have been a comp especially when being charged NY prices.

We did a load of laundry in the guest laundry. Machines were energy efficient, new and very clean. Dryer did not work and maintenance staff had gone home for the night. Desk staff took our laundry to the staff laundry, dried it and brought it back to our room. Very curteous and helpful.

Stayed here one night because we were attending a wedding in the area. Bed was only queen size which was disappointing since all the other Holiday Inns we have stayed at had King size beds in the rooms and also the bathroom and counter a lot smaller than others. Hotel was very quiet considering they had quite a few wedding parties staying there. Hotel staff were quite friendly and very helpful when it came to needing directions. After midnight the hotel bar was pretty full, only 1 bartender but he was very quick and very friendly. We would stay there again if we found ourselves in the area but would try to get a room with a king size bed next time.

I have been staying at this hotel for a few days each year for the past several years and have always been happy with the location, staff and the rooms in the past.
I checked out from my last stay on May 1, 2012 and left my travel pillow and small bright orange pouch containing my ipod shuffle and headphones in the room. I realized this approximately 7pm that evening and called (long distance) from my hotel in Decatur Alabama to enquire how I could get them back. I was told that the chief housekeeper was not in and would return my call in the morning (I left my cell number). The call was not returned. I called May 2 later in the afternoon and was told that the maid that had cleaned the room had been off for the day sick. I called May 3 and was told that the pillow had been found but no case with the ipod. I left a message for the General Manager of the hotel on May 4 to please call and explain what had happened. He returned the call on May 7. After a long discussion and apologies for the loss the GM agreed to reimburse me for the loss and would post it to my credit card used for the room. I AM STILL WAITING - it is now September 20, 2012..

My peer and I booked our business travel at this facility based on my previous experience. Unbeknownst to me, I stayed in the newly renovated section of the hotel the last time and really enjoyed my stay. The room was very accommodating, comfortable and relaxing. The food, drinks and service by the folks in the restaurant and at the front desk were outstanding.
This trip - I would've been embarrassed had my director or VP attended our business meeting and were subjected to the 'old' portion of this facility! There was mold on the walls, old heating/cooling system which couldn't be regulated, poor front desk service and when going to the bar - ignored for service!
We spoke to the manager and he did absolutely nothing. My peer and I provided our room numbers at his request - still no compensation whatsoever. We will NOT be recommending this hotel to anyone in our company, nor will we be returning to this facility for our next business meeting. We will be in this area approximately 4 times a year, so this is very disappointing, but there is a great hotel just down the road from this one which will be getting our business going forward!

A little older property. AC was loud and location of room was on street side so noise was an issue.Carpet was worn and laundry was closed. Bar was good with decent prices and food. Not the worst HI I've stayed in and staff was excellent. With renovations could be a great place.

The main desk staff was excellent and respectful. At the end of my stay the staff placed a bill under my door. When I noticed there was an error in the room charges and went down stairs to the main desk. The attendant was helpful by looking at the check in paper I signed, which had the rates for each night that I agreed to pay. I stayed three nights. A long story short, the staff member upheld the contract for the paper I signed with the room rates that were correct. As a platinum member I appreciate the "customer is always right" attitude. That is why I ONLY stay at Holiday Inn properties.

This place is only about 25 miles from Broadway Theatre District. Yet it is a safe, pretty, comfortable place to stay.
We have been visting every year for 20 years or so, and will be back next year.

My room was awful, I think they were in process of remodeling it. The carpet was wet, I had to ask for towels on my arrival as well as a coffee pot. When they gave me the coffee pot it was dirty The room was dirty with visible dust on table tops and lamps. This experience does not reflect my stays at other Holiday Inns. However I will never return to this one
