Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Water park great - room cleanliness/lighting need to be better.
We chose to visit this Holiday Inn recently after extensive research of hotel/water park combos within the Twin Cities area. Our children, 4 & 1, have not a lot of experience in the water so we wanted to find a place that they felt comfortable with but could accommodate if they wanted to get more daring.
The water park surpassed my expectations. It provided a little bit of everything. Friday and Saturday were busy, not packed but you have to expect that in a weekend in January. We did not take the opportunity to use the hot tub. The facility is starting to show some wear and tear but it was clean. I was appreciated the attentiveness of the lifeguard staff.
Food at the Mississippi Grill was mediocre - we only ate there on Saturday evening.
As far as the room, the physical layout worked great for us (we had a Kid's Suite) and the mattresses were comfortable. The large fridge was appreciated, too.
Yes, the walls are thin but you cannot fault the property for children running through the halls. I was concerned that the noise would resound throughout the night but after about 10:30 it quieted down quickly.
However, the cleanliness of the room left a lot to be desired. The counter/table surfaces were clean, but all the room walls needed a complete wipe down and a massive vacuum job. There were food type splatters on the walls and you can tell that housekeeping will not move anything in order to vacuum. Within an inch of the wall or any piece of furniture (where vacuum cannot reach), there was a thick, caked layer of dust and food particles. While we were packing up, I thought I had dropped something behind the cabinet that housed the fridge/microwave so I peered behind it and I don't think it had been pulled out in 6 months. There was a ton of garbage behind it along with oodles of cups from the coffee pot.
The main sitting room was also extremely dark. You have to figure it would be as the windows of course are in the bedrooms. But between the wall color and the lack of decent lighting, everything was very yellow.
Overall, we enjoyed the water park enough that we're willing to forgive the the room issues and hopefully return someday. I realize that they have a lot of people to move in and out everyday but I think they could really do themselves a favor by giving at least the room we stayed in a deep cleaning.

This is our 6th year having our spring outing at the Otsego Holiday Inn.....great place to stay and this year they added a wonderful basement "fun room" for the kids who don't want to swim all the time.
There are 23 in our family counting adults and kids and we all enjoyed it a lot!

The pool was WAY to crowded where my children did not even want to go and swim, the hot tub burnt our eyes so bad we could not even sit in it. We have been here before and had a wonderful time, this time, not so much.
