Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by average to good convenient location to park and ride easy to reach excellent pool January 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great service The hotel has great staff who go extra steps to help a guest, be it in providing local directions, assistance in calling cabs, or accommodations The property is located about 15 minutes from downtown Oxford and is a bit out of the way, though the bus service from the nearby Park-n-Ride is available for a modest cost each way. Overall my stay was comfortable and affordable. My biggest issue, as an international business traveler, was not a function of this property, per se, but with Holiday Inn UK's decision to not provide any complimentary (or even reasonably priced) internet access at all...no free wifi in the lobby, no dedicated computer in the business area for short term use, nothing. The fees for short term use were outrageous, and greatly in excess of their costs of providing service. Disappointing. January 3, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Value Visited many times and Staff always very helpful. Some times prices can be excessive. This occasion was a 2 nights for price of one, which we have done twice and on this occasion we received an upgrade which made the visit more enjoyable. The downside was that breakfast was not included. The pricing structure meant that to book B & B rate would have doubled the rate for both nights. You can book breakfast the previous evening at a rate that would have equalled one nights stay. It may very well be a good strategy to have a cheaper breakfast rate as the dining room seemed empty on our visit. Most visitors use the park and ride into Oxford and although not the responsibility of the hotel the walk to the park and ride is difficult. Maybe pressure could be brought to bear on the Council as they now charge for parking as well as the bus ride into the city. Overall however its good basic accommodation at a reasonable price with friendly staff. January 3, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel, great staff, great location! We enjoyed staying in the Holiday Inn. The location was perfect: close to the Park and Ride, and a Starbucks across the parking lot. The swimmingpool with sauna were very welcome at the end of the day. Special thanks to our always warm and friendly breakfast waitress Pranee who made a perfect start of every day for us! Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not so good this time. We had stayed here before with no problems. On this occasion we were on the 4th floor at the front of the hotel. Unfortunately we were kept awake most of the night while the guests of a party in the hotel used the front terrace smoking area to continue partying until around four in the morning. Even the double glazing did not keep the noise out. On complaining the next morning my email address was taken by the receptionist so that someone could contace me. I am still waiting. At breakfast there were several guests eating in their nightwear - is this now acceptable in UK hotels ???? It certainly is not for me. It isn't what goes wrong - its what action is then taken to placate. Unfortunately it seems the Holiday Inn just couldn't be bothered. December 17, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great customer service/ should consider King-sized beds Great location - within walking distance of bus line to get to central Oxford. December 13, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable and Efficient We visit Oxford a lot as we have regular business at the University. Got this stay at an excellent rate, but it was worth twice as much! Acommodation, pool, bar excellent. The Park and Ride to the City Centre means no messing around with taxis. Excellent. December 10, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best night sleep! I was expecting a high standard of room as I had paid much more than I normally would for somewhere to sleep and a breakfast. However, the room was warm and clean with shutters rather than curtains that cut out any noise and ALL the light! I didn't find a single hair in the bathroom and the Mars bar was a very pleasant surprise, although I had to fight my daughter for it. The staff were very helpful, booking us a taxi and giving directions, and the breakfast was excellent. December 7, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great location Pleasant, clean, quiet room; hotel in a great location. Initially staff suggested that a quiet room might not be available - I had assumed that all rooms for which one paid to sleep in would have to be quiet. There was loud, very aggressive sounding "music" being played in the lobby when I arrived which was unsettling. But the room was actually completely quiet and clean and pleasant, with a great bathroom and shower. The hotel didn't have the polish or sophistication one would expect from a hotel. I'd stayed in other hotels in the IHG group - Intercontinental hotels on west and east coast of USA, and they seemed more polished. December 6, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Experience My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn last weekend for two nights. I was attending a weekend course nearby. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff accommodating. When the service at the bar was slow one of the managers came and helped. One drink only at those prices however. The room was fine and there was no problem with road noise. We were on the second floor but, to us, this was the first floor and their first floor was our ground floor. The hotel is well situated near the Park and Ride. Did what it said on the tin. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not comfortable bed and hotel has hospital ambience My daughter asked me when she stepped in at Holiday Inn Oxford, is this a hospital dad? The Holiday Inn Oxford is a two thumbs down and I had a miserable time at the hotel. However Oxford is nice and beautiful. November 20, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel We stayed at this hotel for one night. As soon as we arrived the gentleman at reception was excellent and made us feel at home and offered good advice on the locality. The room was comfortable and the four of us enjoyed a really good meal at the restaurant where the staff were again excellent We used the Park and Ride into Oxford on the Sunday which the receptionist recommended and found this to be really good. Overall we will definitely return to this hotel as we thoroughly enjoyed are visit. November 17, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Lovely Relaxing Birthday Break This was the first time staying at this hotel for my wife's birthday and from the moment we arrived we were made very welcome and felt relaxed. All the staff were helpful and courteous and took the time to acknowledge and talk not only to us but to our children. Breakfast was a big hit with the children, with a great range of food, (and being under 12 was free!!), along with the pool, spa and facilities. The bedrooms were large enough and the hotel is in an excellent location for both the city of Oxford as it is next door to the Pear Tree 'Park and Ride' which provides regular buses to and from the city centre, and Bicester outlet shopping village is only a short drive. An ideal place to stay and relax if you want to enjoy the sights of Oxford and the surrounding area. The only negative point for us was that the hotel and rooms were extremely warm even with the air con in the room on for the majority of the stay. I would certainly recommend it to others and will be using again soon. November 13, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A wonderful, relaxing break We had a really happy overnight stay here our two children (who - being under 12 - ate for free). The staff were extremely efficient and helpful and the food was delicious. The spa is particularly good. There was a difficult customer who was shouting at staff but they remained calm and restrained throughout. We were impressed by all aspects of this hotel. November 12, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable hotel, good staff but poor food The hotel had an issue with no hot water on the Sunday morning we were there, which i understand was mentioned by many. The hotel itself is ideally situated and would use again. The food in the restaurant on the Friday night was not the best we have had in a Holiday Inn, so much so that we took KFC in the next evening. I did report this to the duty staff on the desk. The chef clearly did has not tried the chips he serves up. Rooms were good November 4, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good bed and breakfast We particularly enjoy stayong at Oxford Peartree Holiday Inn. The reception staff are very welcoming. November 4, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly Staff This is the second time stayed at this hotel and both times was a very pleasurable experience, all staff were friendly and helpful, facilities good leisure center superb, only have 2 small criticisms, the pillows are not up to the job, and charging for wifi in this day and age! even the coffee shop over the road offers it free. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing service. We had a wonderful time here.Stayed for one night as we were attending our daughter's graduation. Our disabled son came along with us and we were made to feel very welcome. We had interconnecting rooms on the ground floor so didn't have to negotiate the lift. This was really stress free so us.(Oten we go to other hotels and find that they have not given my son an accessible room although we always ask). Thank you. October 25, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Helpful staff and ideal location We have stayed at this hotel several times and would certainly recommend it to others. The staff are very helpful and courteous and the food is good. The hotel is in an excellent location for the city of Oxford as it is a short walk from the Pear Tree 'Park and Ride' which provides regular buses to and from the city centre. An ideal place to stay if you want to enjoy the sights of Oxford without the hassle which driving sometimes brings. October 21, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Warm and friendly welcom Stay here a lot on business and am always awarded a warm welcome from the team. I know this isnt just for regular visitors Room is always clean and tidy and the restuarant always good October 18, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by EVERYTHING WAS EXCELLANT From checking in where staff were really friendly to the restaurant service and. food I was with seven collegues , we had a great night in restaurant. October 17, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by pleasant and convenient Nice room, comfortable mattress. Enough room for baby cot, which was available without charge. Bathroom good with bath and shower. Lobby area pleasant. Breakfast is very expensive if you haven't got it as part of your deal. My advice is to go across the carpark to Starbucks/Waitrose for breakfast. October 15, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ok for a bed for the night A convenient stop over for a night very handy for Pear Tree park and ride into Oxford. Decent room very clean and quiet although bed on castors a little odd! Fire alarm terrifying at 5am for no apparent reason and no apology at reception next morning. Two people on the desk the chap was very chirpy, apologetic and gave out useful info like the car park exit number. Unfortunately, the woman we got said thanks and bye!!! October 12, 2012
