Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not my idea of a 4 star hotel Very disappointed with the overall experience. I have had better service and amenities from a 3 star hotel. Only good thing, is that it is near the station. I do not intend to ever stay in this hotel, even for free. December 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and very comfortable This is a great, clean hotel situated right beside the Gare de l'est metro which made exploring the city very easy. The room was very clean and the staff were remarkably helpful - even when my French was lacking! I have to also add that the bed (this may differ throughout the hotel) was the comfiest I have ever slept in - my girlfriend and I both commented on this. I would definitely stay here again. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Good location, nice staff, that's it. Each day of my stay at this hotel started at 6 am with the banging of kitchen deliveries to the hotel outside my window. Then I would lumber into the bathroom to be greeted by cigarette burns on the counter-top, and mildew in the shower. The furnishings are terrible and badly damaged. The walls are bare save for repairs made to them from who knows what. That being said, the staff is very nice and well-meaning. It's a convenient location. December 8, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Very Average, Decent for Price Pros: Room was recently renovated, hotel was conveniently located right outside a major train station and on top of a metro stop, price was decent for Paris Cons: Room was TINY (just enough room for the bed and small desk), room had trash on balcony and in closet upon our arrival, staff was not very helpful, certain pieces of the room fell off during our stay(door stop, wall mounting), breakfast not included December 5, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent hotel, but poor staff performance Location: great. Room: excellent and modern. Internet (WIFI): fast and reliable, but need to log in again every 24 hrs, a bit frustrating if you are in the middle of writing an email and are suddenly logged out automatically. Breakfast: very good buffet. Many things to choose from. Hot buffet could be a little warmer than just lukewarm. BUT staff: very mixed feelings. Some staff members performing as to be expected, although not particularly friendly. Some other staff members terrible. I stayed 4 days, on the third day suddenly there was no light in my room, just a small desk lamp, the tea maker and the television did work. Asked at reception, they promised they would send someone immediately. Waited I the room for more than an hour, but nobody came. Asked at reception again (another staff member, the first one had disappeared), he promised he would take care of it while I was out for dinner. Upon return: still no lights in the room. I had intended to work that evening, but could not. I wanted to take a shower, but the bathroom was completely dark. I managed to put the desk light that was still working on a chair near the door of the bathroom, so that I had at least some light if I left the door open. Next day I asked again, and this time the problem was fixed at last, in the afternoon. I was told (in a not too friendly manner) that I should have put my key card in a holder next to the door. But I had already tried that long before; my card did not fit into that holder, and besides, I had already been in the room for two days with all lights working and without ever putting anything in that holder. Nobody could explain why it was different suddenly. Altogether almost 24 hours without light, without help, without explanation, just sitting and waiting in my room in vain, not able to work, not able to take a normal shower. Quite a frustration and much time lost. Another example at breakfast: an overzealous staff member kept removing everything from the tables that he thought was not needed any more. Being a solo traveller, I sometimes had to get away from the table to get some more food or something to drink. Invariably I found that my cutlery, plate, cup etc. had been removed in that half a minute or so that I had been away; this happened twice during one breakfast session, but the staff member in question did not seem to bother. So the next morning I left some paperwork on the table, clearly showing that I had not yet left the breakfast room. Guess what: this time my cutlery, plate, cup (still full of coffee) AND the paperwork had been removed. I had to ask more than once to get my paperwork back, and when I finally got it back it was full of coffee stains. Next morning: I left paperwork, room key, and my glasses on the table as a clear indication (or so I thought), only to find that all of these were taken from the table, again by the same staff member. He did not seem able to learn from his previous mistakes. Also it is not a great idea to use a cleaning spray on the empty part of a small table for two, while a guest is actually eating on the other part of that table. And what about this: I put the usual "do not disturb" sign on the door of my room, because I had some work to do. At about 10.15 AM the cleaning lady actually knocked on my door to ask me until what time I did not want to be disturbed! In short: some staff member shave a lot to learn, some will never learn. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel has had a nice makeover My usual Paris IHG hotel was fully booked so I stayed here. My last visit to this hotel was two years ago when it was a little down at the heel. This visit I found it has had a very nice makeover with the upgrade my Platinum card gave me I found myself in a splendid newly refurnished room on the 7th floor. I will now make this my first choice in Paris as the value to cost was excellent. December 2, 2014
