Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful hotel and staff This lovely hotel is across the street from Gare de l est which was the historic start of the Orient Express. Just cross the street and catch the Metro to any of the amazing places in this beautiful city. I was amazed how quiet the room was with all the activity in the street outside. It was comfortable and pleasant. The staff was friendly and helpful. Especially Awa. She is the best. We will definitely stay here again. December 22, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It could have been awesome... but sadly there were a few points that made our stay not as enjoyable. 1. we got a room on the 4th floor. Freshly renovated, cozy, but someone must have forgotten to clean up after the renovation. There were paint sprays on wall, windows, mirrors, tiles and so on, there were still stickers on the window. 2. the third floor was still under renovation, so our afternoon nap on Friday afternoon had to be cancelled. We called the reception to find out how long this would be going on Friday and wanted to know if there would be any work on the weekend. The staff was very friendly but could not answer the question. They promised to call us back but never did. 3. Sunday was not the best day at the hotel. It started of with an overcrowded breakfast room and no more baguette left at 10am although breakfast is served until 11am. After a long day out in Paris we came back to our room and found our window wide open and the day blanket still on the chair. It looked like room service got distracted. Not so funny with temperatures around freezing. The room was ice cold. Apart from those points, we found the Holiday Inn to be a nice hotel, with friendly staff and a good location. Our room didn't face the train station, so it was quiet. And the Metro within two steps of the hotel entrance made it easy to explore Paris December 22, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A convenient hotel right across from Paris Gare de l'Est train station We were in Paris for a holiday. Arriving with TGV from Strasbourg, this hotel was very convenient since it's right across from the train station. It is also relatively convenient to walk around the up and coming neighbourhood of Canal St-Martin with its hip cafes and bars. The hotel was undergoing renovation when we were there, so we managed to get a very good rate for Paris. We were given a newly renovated room. it's quite small, which is to be expected in Paris, but the nice surprise was the spacious bathroom that has glass doors opening to an inner balcony (good for smokers, not much of a view). Reception was not the most pleasant, even for Parisian standard and the reception area is a bit drab. I'm assuming it will get renovated also eventually. All in all, a good stay. Would consider staying again if coming from by TGV from the east. December 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Staff made visit worthwhile! Yes there is construction and renovation going on outside the hotel at this time. But our room had renovations recently completed and it was worth it. Great location – nothing wrong with the neighborhood – and metro and rail are directly outside front door. But most importantly, the staff was the most friendly and helpful to a nervous traveler that I have ever encountered on a trip to Paris. English was spoken adequately to excellent by all staff that we talked to and they were all very helpful to us no matter what the time of day (or night) we stopped by the front desk. The staff really made the stay worthwhile. I recommend this hotel to other travelers. December 18, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and very comfortable This is a great, clean hotel situated right beside the Gare de l'est metro which made exploring the city very easy. The room was very clean and the staff were remarkably helpful - even when my French was lacking! I have to also add that the bed (this may differ throughout the hotel) was the comfiest I have ever slept in - my girlfriend and I both commented on this. I would definitely stay here again. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Good location, nice staff, that's it. Each day of my stay at this hotel started at 6 am with the banging of kitchen deliveries to the hotel outside my window. Then I would lumber into the bathroom to be greeted by cigarette burns on the counter-top, and mildew in the shower. The furnishings are terrible and badly damaged. The walls are bare save for repairs made to them from who knows what. That being said, the staff is very nice and well-meaning. It's a convenient location. December 8, 2014
