Hotel always does a great job. I do have a problem with the Priority Club and managing my points. Not user friendly, and even with hotel property assist we don't know if we accomplished the desired result. This requires a follow up call from me to the 888 number to try and confirm or fix again.

I've stayed here twice now and had great experiences both times. Rooms are nice, good size and nicely appointed. I got upgraded both times due to my Platinum status, once to the boardroom suite adjoining the pool! Nice workout facility available 24h, fast internet, and a very friendly staff. Location is right off the highway but still very quiet, connected to Thunder Bay which is great for dinner and/or drinks. Plenty of free parking and easy to get in/out.

From the check in to the the very nice room to the excellent room service.... the great bar in the lobby. I have nothing negative to say except I wish this hotel could duplicate its self and be everywhere I go. Everytime I am in the area I will always stay here. great service

The lobby and rooms have beautiful solid oak furnishings. What a welcome change from other properties that use particle board. The thing that kept this from five stars was sleeping above the pool and smelling like the pool the next day. Helpful and friendly staff and very clean all around. The attached restaurant has some pretty average bar food.

We enjoyed a one-night family getaway. We had a pool-side room that was comfortable and convenient. The pool area was a bit noisy but the the sliding door and heavy curtain not only provided privacy but effectively blocked the noise. The pool temperature could have been a bit warmer.
In the evening, we utilized the large family room-like setting of the lobby to play games and sit by the fire. This was an enjoyable setting.
The desk staff was friendly and helpful. The one small issue we had was that our room didn't have an ice bucket. I was surprised that there wasn't a replacement supply readily available when we asked about it. We ended up using our coffee pot carafe.
Lastly, many of the less expensive chain hotels include a light contental breakfast. This is especially nice when traveling with kids. This is something that should be considered rather than the pricey buffet.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Aarsam Potentially Nice Hotel
Within the last year, I have stayed at this Holiday Inn approximately 10 nights. As a point of reference, I spent roughly 50 nights in priority club hotels across the United States during the same time period.
Recently this hotel upgraded their beds from uncomfortable sleep number models to a very comfortable alternative. Delicious lunch and dinner room service is provided by the nearby “Thunder Bay Grille”. The showers are nicer than most other priority club hotels I have stayed at and the lobby of the hotel creates an inviting experience.
The breakfast served in the basement of this hotel is not very good nor worth the price and should be included as a perk for staying.
If all of the machines located in the fitness center worked I would consider the fitness center above average for a priority club hotel. One of the treadmills has had a loose belt for several months and both elliptical machines need to be serviced. There is a nice free weight bench and the space is quite large with 3 TVs.
Over the past few months, there have been several instances that have caused me to question my loyalty to this hotel. Specifically, it started with my inability to receive the correct rate online. I was told this was due to the sales staff not getting the rate loaded on time. I was always charged the correct rate and the problem has since been corrected.
On more than one occasion, I have had to ask for different rooms due to chlorine and sewer smells. There are also a couple rooms in this hotel where cell phone service is unattainable. Last month there was a problem with the water softener and the heat wasn’t functioning well. All of these issues and situations have been corrected recently.
The final straw for me was when the front desk issued a room key for my room to another guest. I believe the staff thought my room to be unoccupied and it was truly an accident. Luckily, when the other guest attempted to enter my room with a working key, I had the deadbolt and safety lock engaged which prevented their entry. Despite the accident, I feel my personal safety and belongings were placed in unnecessary harm. Had I not been in the room, the other guest would have had unrestricted access. This coupled with the other issues mentioned earlier are reasons why tonight will be my last stay at this hotel.
I see several negative reviews from other guests with responses from hotel staff. Rather than spending time responding to this review, I ask that you spend your efforts fixing the problems and situations outlined above.
I wish this hotel the best of luck in the future and hope you are able to return it to the quality that originally earned my loyalty.
