Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Large bedroom overlooking the Hoe Stayed for two nights, all the staff were very pleasant and polite nothing to much trouble. We stayed in a room overlooking the Hoe which was very spacious.and clean could not fault anything.Bed was Comfortable and spotless with a choice of pillows soft or hard. Will return again next year. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great service Whereas we found the hotel catered excellently to our needs (visit for 2 nights for the Fireworks,I feel I must mention that after our first night the way that the bed was made was very poor, the pillows looked as if they had been thrown in place, not smoothed out,the duvet was erratically tucked in some( places not) and the throw for the bottom of the bed wasn't replaced but left where I had put it overnight.Did not affect anything greatly but for a 4 star it did not look good, also perhaps should point out that one of the armchairs badly stained . The staff were all great, extremely friendly and willing and the food was really good. August 18, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Aufenthalt in Plymouth Gesamthaft beurteilt freute uns der Aufenthalt in Plymouth. Das Hotel Holiday Inn hatte eine beruhigende Atmosphäre. August 15, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Substandard hotel in need of refurbishing very disappointing stay in room 515. Dirty windows that do not open, stuffy room with inefficient air conditioning system which blows smelly air and makes me feel ill. Dirty surfaces, smeared with food chest door handles. Inefficient flush in the bathroom, toilet holder rail falling off. Shower is rusty. The bed mattress is horrible- every single movement reverberates. I could not sleep a wink and ended up sitting in the armchair August 14, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by gutes Rundreisehotel das Zimmer war geräumig und gut ausgestattet.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 'Return to the beginning'! Our stay at the Plymouth Inn was our first return visit in 43years! Ours was the very first Wedding reception to be booked at the Inn after it opened in 1970, our reception was on August 14th 1971 and held in the Marriner Suite. We had super service then and during our latest short stay. I cannot fault the friendly welcome we received and the room was up to expectation. The breakfast was superb both in choice and quality. We would recommend this Inn unreservedly to anyone visiting Plymouth like ourselves. August 13, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good central location Spacious room, no upgrade of room and I am a patinum member!! Basic old bathroom that appeared dirty!! Underground carpark locked, waited over five mins for reply to buzzer but no answer so had to park elsewhere. Bed was comfortable but duvet needed to be larger. Pillows lovely and comfortable. Only two towels for family of four so had to ask for more which we got ok. Restaurant was nice with great views!! Food at breakfast was plentiful early on but late mornig nothing was replaced. The location is brilliant for central plymouth!!!! Great indoor pool but shame about changing rooms they need a refurb. August 13, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fab location Room for four was massive!!! Could do With updating tho especially the bathroom but the shower was hot and powerful. Car park was tight and came back one night to find the shutter down, we rang the buzzer and waited a good Few mins but no answer so had to park elsewhere!! How annoying. Had drink in bar, service ok and had breakfast a few times, views were amazing!!! Restaurant very busy and food not kept well Stocked!!! Service in restaurant was ok but nothing special gave me Tea but I had to ask for milk. Check was 2pm We checked in at 2.45pm but room not ready so waited in bar with free drink then got a call to Say it was ready. At check in they tried to charge us but we were using reward nights!!! We are platinum members but no Room upgrade or water in room etc. What I did love was the location of this hotel it was spot on and for this reason alone I would return, 2 mins into city centre and 2 mins to seafront and there is so much to see and do in Plymouth. On the whole it was a Good stay. Used the pool aswell which was nice apart from the showers, handle falling of door and masses of paint peeling of ceilings . August 11, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by friendly convenient hotel superb location for quayside and city centre. friendly staff and comfortable rooms. August 11, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very pleased Location perfect for harbor, children's play area/park, restaurants, sea view, town center. I would normally stay at another Hotel just down the road but due to closure i chose Holiday Inn. Better than the other hotel all round it has a pool, children eat free and the staff are friendlier. Only down side to this hotel is the Multistory car park....OMG! i thought id got the car stuck in there the turning are so narrow. Best to park on overflow car park opposite unless you have a small car. I would certainly recommend this hotel. August 11, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent hotel in brilliant location to explore Plymouth Just returned from a stay with two adults and three children. The location is superb. Very central and ideal to explore The Barbican, The Hoe, to do a spot of shopping in Drakes Circus and for a trip to the Theatre Royal. My wife tried out Ocean Beauty salon while she was there and there was a small pool with sauna and steam room. Would highly recommend for a city break. Rooms were very comfortable with everything that you need. August 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff, hotel needs updating From the moment we checked in we received excellent customer service. Nothing was to much trouble, for everyone. Unfortunately there were some things not working in the room, ac and fridge but they were dealt with promptly. Breakfast and dinner was great with good choices and the spa and pool were just what we needed. Note that the interior is slightly jaded and parts of the lift furniture are missing. Also, a tv magazine found on top of the wardrobe was dated 2012. I wonder if it's still there. Overall I would recommend this hotel and it's central location. August 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by One night's stay A comfortable night's stay and good value meal in the restaurant. August 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay Excellent friendly service, great location, room was spacious and very clean. Only one downside you can not open the patio doors due to Health and Safety regulations, this could be solved by extending the railings outside, although a costly exercise it would be great to be able to open the doors. However, still an enjoyable stay and will certainly return. Thank you. August 10, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Conveniently positioned Ideal location between shops and waterfront areas. Good standard of rooms and quality of sleep. But, unfortunately outside noise may be an issue depending which side of the hotel you are on. Youths congregate nearby and the area is extremely messy with rubbish strewn everywhere. Once away from the hotel perimeter the Hoe and seafront is excellent. Car parking is available and charged which is a bit 'old hat' cant think of any other chain doing this. August 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Family stay My husband and three children had a lovely stay, only complaint really was bathroom, whatever we did it smelt of drains, so much my daughter felt sick sometimes, should have asked to be moved, but I'm not good at complaining.. The staff were all good, especially the helpful man showing us to table at breakfast, which was good, kids loved it.. Views are wonderful while eating, even whilst raining.. We all made use of the swimming pool, wonderful, I even escaped the kids and had a sauna.. Evening meal was included one night in our deal, with kids eating free, and with this being our wedding anniversary it was lovely.. Would book again but hope smell gone, otherwise, keep up the good work , as into many places you can find that accommodate two adults and three kids in one room... August 7, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by friendly staff The staff at the front desk are very friendly and hepful and you only have to asked and they will try and sort any query you have with you room etc as quickly as possible. The staff in the bar area most of them were happy and nice apart from one who seem to not want to really be working!!(she was working saturday and sunday lunchtime and early afternoon) . Our room was fine slight noise outside all night on our last night. The bathroom and bedroom were clean ok, The breakfast food was very good and the staff in there were very helpful and nice. The price I do think is slightly overpriced for what you get in the room . August 7, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Family Wedding We had a executive room overlooking the sea very big ,comfortable bed, good pillows, decor a little shabby but clean. Restaurant on top floor fantastic views. Staff really helpful even when we needed a table for 20 family members at short notice on the first night. Waiting staff were brilliant. Breakfast everything you could want hot and cold food wise- again staff very helpful in seating us all together. Pool a little odd as shallow end only came half way up my leg but clean excellent staff. Only downside car park beneath hotel very very tight and poorly lit. It was difficult to drive any car about it safely our car was damaged. There are two car parks one beneath the hotel and one opposite any large car should park on the outside carpark. There should be warnings about the dimensions of the underground car park before entering. August 6, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Menu Being in a seaport I would have expected a few more fish dishes on the menu. August 6, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic location This hotel is in a great location with a restaurant on the 10th floor overlooking Plymouth and the Hoe. Staff are friendly, lovely swimming pool and kids eat for free (and you can have 2-3 kids in your room at no extra cost). Hotel is a little tired but great value for money. August 6, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value with stunning views We enjoyed a complimentary upgrade to a spacious 10th floor room with a great view across the river and city. The Hoe, the city centre and the Barbican are all within walking distance. Staff were unfailingly friendly, polite and helpful in all departments. We would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Plymouth. August 6, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and great service Loved the location, good views in all directions. You could see out sea very well. good sun at that time of the year. August 6, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Old and smells of urine! Hotel entrance great, but do not be fooled, the room smelt bad and looked tired and the toilet had very strong smell of urine. The breakfast looked great but was tasteless. Cleaner came to room within minutes of complaining. Toilet smelt of a disinfectant for about an hour but the urine smell came back. August 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great location Excellent service at this hotel which is ideally located for shopping or site seeing in Plymouth. We parked the car on arrival and didn't move it until we went home, relaxed. August 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by location location location A fab stay! Situated on the Plymouth Hoe, the views are breath taking to say the least. Hotel is close to the city centre, over looking the sea and light house. Room ( family room) 2 double beds , although one was more a king, had plenty of space and very clean with a view of the sea. The food was great, carvery and breakfast, the restaurant also has sea views! The staff are warm, welcoming and always smiling. Car park was underground, secure and private. This hotel also has an indoor pool and terrace sun lounge area. It was dream to find this hotel in such settings! Location to explore , leave the car at the hotel and explore on foot, there are many coffee bars and fish cafes that you can take a break in, all with spectacular views. Take the ferry, boat, ship, ride from the barbican across to cawsand beech and enjoy the clear water settings. There are many beech shops that give you the village, safe life , that we all dream off. The beech houses/ cottages give you a real sence of community, safe life. It really is a stress free break, and dont forget to have a cornish pasty in cornwall, it made our break ! Going back to the Plymouth hoe, There is an outdoor pool , sunning area too. This area is great for families as well as those the just want a quiet break. This area does not boast fairground attractions or burger bars, its the complete opposite, almost like a retreat. The locals too are friendly. If you fancy a spot of shopping, with the city centre a few yards away, the temptation is there, with something for everyone and plenty of places to eat, have a coffee or just sit and enjoy. Its so could we would love to go again! Great are for kids, young and old. VERY ENJOYABLE THANKYOU August 1, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Plymouth Hoe My room was on the 9th floor and had great views of the city but, the windows were dirty and did not open so my photos were not clear The Penthouse bar and restaurant was on the top floor of the hotel and had great 180 degree views it's well worth visiting. The hotel is located in the Historical area of Plymouth so its easy to walk to the Docks and Hoe. July 31, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Handy for a visit to the Theatre. My wife and I have been staying in the Holiday Inn on Plymouth Hoe for many rears, just short stays for Theatre visits and Veterans get togethers. We have always been made welcome and comfortable in the large rooms and roomy beds. We usually have a view across the Park. The dining room has views over the Hoe and out to sea. We enjoy a great breakfast and eat at least one evening meal which is always well cooked and served. We look forward to further visits and hope you can maintain this very high level of service for the very reasonable price. W.F.McClay July 31, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy building works spoilt our stay The Hotel itself was fine and I appreciate that they needed to replace windows at the hotel but I am astounded that they put us into the room right next door to where the very noisy building works were being carried out. We were not warned as I was extremely alarmed on exiting the bathroom wearing just a towel as 2 men appeared at the window on scaffolding that was being slowly raised mechanically. It totally spoilt our stay. I did complain as was assured we would be given a refund on the price of our room upgrade I would have expected that to be for the 2 nights not just the one July 30, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A bit worn down and SLOOW internet The hotel is quite worn down and could use a makeover but it's the internet connection alone that makes me select another hotel in Plymouth next time. Car park is also VERY tight with space. Location is great though. July 28, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Thank you "housekeeping" The stay was perfectly fine. The room was enormous. I can't comment on the food because I didn't eat there at all. The hotel is centrally located, and perfect for my purposes ( I have a friend who lives a few hundred yards away). However it was expensive and the prices seemed to change from day to day. One minor gripe, the underground car park is tiny and spaces tight. I have a large car and had to pass up a number of spaces which were too tight to manoeuvre into. Only after the last turn and almost at the exit did I find a space. It was 8.30 in the evening, so I guess most guests had already parked. On the other hand, a major PLUS. I left a charger in my room. When I spoke to "housekeeping " they found it and said they'd post it to me. IT WAS DELIVERED WITHIN 24 HOURS. Thank you "housekeeping". July 26, 2014
