Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Hit We've stayed at this Holiday Inn previously (6 times in the last year). Our family is closer distance to Corning, AR; but in Poplar Bluff there are more options for stay and food. This Holiday Inn is always hit or miss. Some times our stay is good- the room is clean, smells like it's been cleaned recently, the bed is comfortable-ish (for a hotel bed) and the staff cordial. And some times this hotel is a complete miss. This time was a complete miss. The girl at check in was completely disinterested in her job. Not a big deal, until there is something wrong with the room and you have to deal with someone who finds dealing with people to be a nuisance. Our room reeked of cigarette smoke. So much so that once we got settled into a different room( 30 min later) I felt like I needed a shower. Getting settled into another room was quite the situation. Susan, wasn't too thrilled about having to assign us a new room. The housekeeping staff thought it was a great joke that I complained the room reeked of smoke because you could hear them laughing down the hall. Susan gave us new keys for a different room but neglected to give us back the key for the first room and I had to wait in line another 15 minutes to get that settled. Not to mention the fear of having all my stuff in a hotel room that I no longer had access to. Not exactly the greatest feeling. We never received an apology for how anyone treated us or how they acted. I think the staff needs some serious training. I'm not a hard person to please. I just don't want to be treated like the dirt under someone's shoe when I've paid good money to stay in a clean and semi-safe place. March 30, 2016
