I had forgotten a couple of items; and, no problem, they had travel sizes ready. I would recommend and definitely stay here again. Plus free shuttle to airport. April 8, 2014

When I checked out and reported that fact at desk -- staff member was sincerely and very apologetic. Arrangements seemed to go well for the conference. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good location, Super Clean This was one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. Everything sparkled - elevator doors, bathrooms, lobby etc. The staff was exceptionally service-oriented and when I asked for things (I forgot to pack toothpaste), I had them in minutes. My only few small issues were with my room. First, it was March in Maine but the room was extremely hot. I put on the air conditioner but it was very, very noisy. Further, all 4 pillows on my king bed were gigantic. Very firm and absolutely huge. I had to get up at midnight and use 2 towels in a pillowcase instead of the pillows; since they give you 4, you would think they could mix up the sizes. In addition, there was hardly any vanity (just a sink) so I had no place to put my toiletry bag and it was hard to apply my makeup because I had to put things on the floor. Lastly, I stayed only one night and they put the express checkout bill under the door during the night. When I went down to breakfast, I returned to find my room had been cleaned. I was in the room for another 2 hours and used a towel, threw out trash etc. When I checked out at the front desk, they said, "Oh, it looks like you are already checked out." Hmmm... I hope they checked the room again before the next customer came in. Overall, a very nice hotel. April 1, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very clean hotel! I was impressed by how clean this hotel was! Not a spot of dust anywhere, windows were sparkling, and staff was always presentable. The food we had during our conference was average. I am not sure if the committee I was with chose the food selections or the hotel did but the breakfast only had 3 choices. Lunch and dinner however were good. I guess the only negative things were that I had to pay $10 per night to park in the hotels garage and that there aren't any food vending machines in the hotel. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel in a great little city The Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland Maine is a nice, comfy, clean place. I was there for a conference and the room value was great. The restaurant value not so much. I looked up prices - thinking I might go there on my own sometime - and the regular rates aren't nearly as good as the conference rates. The rooms, meeting rooms and lobby are comfortable and attractive. The parking is somewhat inconvenient. The basement garage is too small and the next-door garage is an uphill block walk. Not so good with luggage. The staff was very helpful. The restaurant was mediocre and overpriced - usual hotel fare. March 19, 2014

It was just one night, but as an IHG Reward member, I was upgraded to an Executive Suite on the 7th floor that faced the bay. I immediately opened the curtains so I could enjoy the view! I even slept with them open so i could enjoy the night lights and the sunrise over the bay the next morning was breathtaking. Laying in that comfortable bed with all those fluffy pillows, staring at that view was so relaxing. If I could have gotten away with stealing the pillows to take home, i would have :) Just Kidding! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Overall Stay I was ill when we had our stay. My husband was going to a concert at the State Theater which was right up the street from your Hotel. I was certainly quite comfortable as he went out for the evening. I rested again the whole next afternoon. We enjoyed visiting the little diner up the street..MARCY'S and also enjoyed a Chinese place ZEN. After our meal at ZEN we came back to our room and placed our chairs in front of the big picture window and watched a beautiful sunset over Portland Bay. It was truly a beautiful evening. Just what I needed to start feeling better. We were very tempted to stay another night just so that I would rest in that beautiful room!!! March 11, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn by the Bay The location of the hotel is great. You are within walking distance of great places to eat and bars and the CCCC. The bar area at the hotel is great with many local beers on tap and friendly service. The room was quiet at night. The only downside we saw was the mattresses were very soft it was almost like a water bed. I woke up with a stiff back about 5 times during the night. March 6, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent place to stay for business or leisure We stayed in a handicap room because of surgery. Did find a number of issues with this being a handicap room. The bed was normal height and should have been lower and the seat in the shower was very slippery. Definitely not a good situation for some one with disabilities, but for anyone else this room was very nice. February 24, 2014

Rooms a bit outdated and beds were not comfortable. Pillows lumpy and so sleep was not as pleasant an experience as I had hoped. Would possibly stay here again. February 24, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and Comfortable Room in a great location Very comfortable room with good climate controls and easy check-in/out with easy access to parking and the elevators to/from garage. Bed/Mattress/Pillows all made for a very restful sleep in conjunction with the very good HVAC controls. Not too cold/hot and no noisy heater. Bar was open late enough and a relaxed atmosphere. TV's were good sized HD models. The only problem was very slow service at breakfast, which to be fair may have been due to the conference I was attending (understaffed that day?). Although the restaurant was not overloaded when I arrived, it still took 30 minutes to get an omelet from the kitchen. Overall, though it was a very nice stay and I would recommend it to others. Had reserved a "King Bed upgrade smoking room" but got there and was told they don't have any and they would have to check with manager to see what they could do. Five minutes later I was told they had a double bed room, very small and just kind of ruined the experience for my first time there. Will not even think of coming here again, very disappointed and they even took away the bonus 2000 points rate I signed up for. February 9, 2014

Close enough to walk everywhere, yet not enough on the beaten path for noisy traffic. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Lobster bisque and lobster roll in the restaurant are very good if you want to stay in. Rooms are what I expect in a Holiday Inn, comfortable, clean with the added convenience of a refrig and microwave. February 9, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by One night only We enjoyed this hotel for it's location and the staff is excellent. We were able to walk to dinner and really enjoyed exploring this unique city. Our only issue was the beds. They were very soft and uncomfortable and need to be replaced. Other than that the room was great. Had breakfast in the dining room on check out day and it was delicious and very inexpensive. Great staff. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others. February 5, 2014
