Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly & Helpful We enjoyed our 4 night stay with you last month. Our room was clean and well " made up" each day. Breakfasts were just fine, plenty of choice, however the evening meals could give a bit wider choice, especially with regard to veg. and potatoes, mostly chips, but to be fair the mashed potato available with ( I think ) steak was really good. One of the leaflets you have on display gave us 20 per cent off visiting The Historic Dock Area, so that was something to smile about. Now to the staff, from the "OFF" they were friendly and helpful, so very well done ! and keep it up ! November 4, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A Good Hotel To Stay At The Hotel is well situated for Portsmouth's amenities, especially the Historic Dockyard. We found no fault with the service or those facilities of the Hotel which we used. We shared the common problem of limited parking, although I managed to squeeze into one of the few remaining spaces. Whilst there is space out side, it is quite open and exposed, with warnings of car crime. We took care to arrive earlier in the day than we would usually, and our visit was a great success. Holiday Inn's menu policy means that, although there is a fair choice, people who want a restaurant meal are deterred from staying at more than one Holiday Inn. We stayed at three in about two weeks and were offered the same menu. Couldn't chef's be allowed to offer the odd special? November 4, 2014

As Platinum Member was offered upgrade upon arrival but warned that my double room would be now two singles, no problem with that. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Bathroom was tiny, unable to lie in bath it was so small. Price for 1st night £154, 2nd night £104.....quite a pricey first night for what you get. Single Brandy £5!!!! November 4, 2014

Also in a very good location just two mins away from Clarence pier and a short walk to town. Good value for money . Single rooms would be welcome! Parking not adequate - compromised by work being carried out at the moment. The staff at all times were both friendly and helpful. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dissapointed The view from the 6th floor was good. The breakfast was a good selection and well cooked. The hotel was in a good position for the beach, shops, bars, restaurants and attractions. We have stayed in many other holiday inns which have been lovely. This stay was not so positive. I Was really disappointed with the room. It was supposed to be an executive room. There was nothing executive about it. Was very small, in need of updating and bathroom was tiny ( the smallest hotel bathroom I've seen). It was a connecting room and was not good value for money. When booking we asked for a double room and on arrival had been given a twin. The service when I questioned this was not adequate. Was told I had a view of the sea. When I asked if we could look for somewhere else to stay was told as I had checked in and would still have to pay for the night even though I hadn't used any of the facilities. I would not recommend staying in the room on the 6th floor. It wasn't worth even half of what we paid for it. October 20, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Relaxing comfortable stay we stayed in a family room for a weekend whilst attending a wedding. Room was spacious and comfortable.(especially once we had mastered the air conditioning - there were no instructions that we could see). Breakfast was plentiful, with a wide variety to choose from and of a very good standard. The bar staff worked extremely hard and were polite and cheerful even when under pressure. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing Compared to other Holiday Inns we have stayed at this was disappointing. There is limited parking and the hotel is quite run down. Our room was cold and we were promised a heater by reception staff. However it didn't arrive whilst we were out for the evening, so we came back to a cold room. It took a further two visits/calls to reception to get one. A small thing - we weren't offered a newspaper or wake up call, nor were we told the time and place for breakfast when we checked in. Breakfast was the usual high standard. However, none of the plates had been properly cleaned and some were covered in food - promoting the lady serving to exclaim 'oh, that's disgusting'. This is not the standard we would expect given the price we paid. October 9, 2014

The staff were of a high quality throughout and the cleanliness of the hotel was excellent . Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Attentive Staff I’ve stayed at this hotel on four occasions over the past five to six weeks and I expect to continue booking in here on a weekly basis for the next 12-18 months. This hotel is located in Southsea which I find more pleasant than central Portsmouth as there is a large amount of parkland outside and it is just a short distance from the sea. Gunwharf Quays is around a 15 min walk where there are lots of places to shop and eat. The hotel is a standard Holiday Inn type venue which is clean and serviceable and whilst the rooms are of an acceptable standard some could do with a refresh. The staff are all very pleasant and keen to help when they can, whilst working on my laptop in the bar area one morning I was approached and offered a cup of tea which I found very attentive. My only disappointment is that to date I have not been offered a room upgrade which is a perk that I normally enjoy when staying at an IHG member hotel with my Platinum rewards club status but maybe this will change. On a previous visit nearly a year ago my car was rendered undriveable having been completely enveloped in unpleasant bird droppings ((stupidly parked it under a tree for three days) The duty manager came out with a bucket of hot soapy water , rolled up her sleeves and washed the whole car. I don't know her name but a big thank you. Other hotels should take note as this was an excellent example of good staff culture and where not to park your car. September 25, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by First Class Hotel Our room was on the 5th floor with a wonderful view across Southsea Common and the Solent towards the Isle of Wight. I am an IHG Club member and appreciated the complimentary WiFi internet connection. The breakfast was excellent with a superb selection of hot and cold food, the plates were hot and for the first time in my travels around hotels in the UK and around Europe, the toaster produced toast that was toasted to perfection! The only negative thing is a very small request, maybe some extra spoons could be placed near the fresh fruit and yogurt as the spoon used earlier for cereals and milk would have been cleared away while going to select some fruit and yogurt. All the staff throughout the hotel were so very welcoming and friendly, it was a joy to return to the hotel after a day sampling the attractions of the region. My Wife and I are already thinking of our next stay at The Holiday Inn at Pembroke Road, Portsmouth. September 18, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Return Visit I visited this hotel last week for 2 nights and have returned for a further 5 nights. The hotel is convenient for buses to town or Gunwharf. Front desk staff very friendly. Usually free coffee in lobby in the mornings as in most Holiday Inn hotels in other countries. Clean fluffy towels. I had a drink in the bar and staff were attentive. I was given a complimentary drink as a Gold card member. The hotel is clean but really could do with an upgrade as the rooms are getting tired. I will of course return here again in the spring as it is where I want to be. September 15, 2014
