Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hill Family Funeral Everyone is entitled to a difficult evening, an off day....but there aren't many options in the downtown Portsmouth area, and while the staff is pleasant, hard working, and overall, very friendly....there must be a management disconnect, as it is a very average property....... It isn't so bad, that based on the other available options, we won't stay there in the future, and having stayed there before, we have average expectations, but we always leave with a disappointed feeling.... Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff, Convenient Location Whether traveling for business or pleasure, I look for a hotel that makes me feel welcome and at home. The Staff at the Holiday Inn, Portsmouth couldn't be nicer or more efficient. Check in is a breeze, and I am given my requested room if it's available. The bed is clean and comfortable with plenty of pillows to choose from. I especially like the window shades which darken the room much better than simply pulling the curtain closed. On Thursday evenings, I've notices a gentleman playing guitar in the lobby, which, on more than one occasion, has been the perfect environment for a drink and light snack after a long day at work. I recommend this hotel to anyone in the Portsmouth area looking for a friendly face and good night's sleep. November 16, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Restaraunt Hours and Front Desk When I checked in I was given my room key and I asked if the dinning room was open, they said "no". When I got to my room I called and asked about places that would deliver, he told me Domino's or Giovanni's. I had to call back and ask for phone numbers, Giovanni's was closed. Then about 10 minutes later the front desk called and asked if I needed anything and told me since I was a Holiday Inn member I could come down and pick up a free bottle of water. Why would they not just give that to me when I checked in? Why would I want to go back downstairs to pick it up. It made me so aggravated. In the morning I asked about ice, she told me the floors where there were ice or I could go to the dinning room. I waiting for 10 minutes at the dining room and no one ever came out to help me, so I left. Meanwhile the front desk person who told me to go there was able to see me standing there. There were only two patrons in the dinning room. This made me very disappointed with the hotel. November 16, 2015
