Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good nights sleep I stay at this hotel often simply because it is the most convienient palce to stay while in Portsmouth. The staff is always super friendly and professional. This hotel is old so if you are looking for all the flash that a new hotel brings you will be disappointed. However if you simply want a good place to sleep this hotel is for you. The rooms are big enough but the bathroom is very small. Overall not a bad palce to sleep. December 15, 2014

They did have a care package for members but they said I wasn't a member as I didn't have a card. So how did you know I was a member and the hotel staff didn't? Other than that, this place was clean, friendly and just plain out wonderful! Would stay here again!!!!! December 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quick We were staying there for a nearby dance/social. Nice Holiday Inn express for Portsmouth, no offence. The view from the room over the river was amazing. Only stayed one night, but will stay there again if we go back to Portsmouth. November 29, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Brown Water The room was very nice and clean and comfortable but when i turned the water on the in the sink it came out a dark brown color. After running it for about 3 minutes it finally cleared up. November 14, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by No hot water Upon my arrival at approximately 5:30 PM on November 5th I was told by the desk clerk the hot water tank was not working and there was a possibility the water could be cold in the morning. I was offered not to check in and go elsewhere. However I was in the area on business and there was no place to go. I was then informed a number of people were called ahead of time so they could change hotels if they wished. I was never afforded that opportunity. How was it decided who would be called and what people they would just wait and tell when they arrived to check in?? Perhaps if I were given that opportunity I could have made other arrangements. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nicely improved Hotel is vastly improved since Holiday Inn purchased it. Only complaint is that restaurant bar area has a horrible stench coming from the bar sinks. It appears to me that no traps were put on the drains. Luckily a Halloween party was going on in the ballroom and we went there. The bar was a big factor in us staying here for celebrating our birthdays. To bad it stinks there because the hotel is otherwise great. I was married in the ballroom and the hotel / restaurant staff was awesome on our wedding day. November 11, 2014
