Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not what I expected When we checked in after 9:00 pm we were informed that the elevator was out of commission, and that we should have received an email warning us in advance. We never got an email, but one came at about 11:30 that night. We were in a 3rd floor room, so we had to carry all our stuff up and down. Our room was so hot that we turned off the thermostat. That didn't help and the room was 81 degrees when we woke up the next morning. I had to open the window (it was in the 20's outside) to bring the room back to a livable temperature. I complained about the situation to the person at the front desk and was assured that the problem would be fixed, but it wasn't. December 12, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 3rd floor walk up It was not just that the elevator was out and under repairs. The power went out because of this maintenance work for about an hour during prime time work and relaxing time. There was a construction crew humming outside my window, while jackhammers chugged away in the elevator shaft. It was laughable, that is, if I wasn't so tired. The staff tried to be helpful which I do appreciate...I had to cancel my next two nights and find another hotel. When I heard that the elevator was out and would be for my entire stay, I should have cancelled the reservations right then and there. I have a total knee replacement and carrying bags up and down three flights a day, twice a day does not work for me. I was offered 3 drink coupons and a 25% "off my next stay" was a weak compensation for a major inconvenience.I was going to request the night for free as I was not satisfied...but I just wanted to check out on that next morning. Too many better choices out there to have to settle for a substandard hotel in dire need of modernization and a complete upgrade. December 8, 2014

I had read some so-so reviews, but could find no indication of their validity while I was there. I would certainly recommend the facility to my friends and colleagues. November 27, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0��by 2 Week Stay Taking a few moments to pass on a positive review of my stay at this Portsmouth location. Location was very convenient to the Navy Base as well as downtown and shopping. The room was fine, and housekeeping took good care of the cleaning. The front desk staff, specifically Shannon & Rebecca were absolutely wonderful and always extremely helpful. Management should give them a huge pat on the back for their great customer service. When business takes me to Portsmouth again, I will stay at this location again because of the great customer service. November 20, 2014
