Functional but a bit tired, needs a refurb.
Not a pretty Holiday Inn like some I've stayed in, older style, long corridors, a bit worn and in need of renovation.

We usually stay at a Holiday Inn whenever we can . This was very much the same good service we always expect. We did not have food as we were visiting close friends. So cannot say how good the food is.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Northerners Lovely room, top notch service.
We booked a larger room as an old aunt was travelling with us and she didn't want a single room on her own. I asked for the room to be near to reception and for an aid (step stool#, to help my aunt in and out of the shower.
On arrival, I was told that as Priority Club members, we had been upgraded to an executive room, which had disabled facilities. We were really 'chuffed', with this.
The staff were only too happy to help with any query #including the swimming pool staff# and I got the feeling that nothing was a problem to them.
Couldn't fault the breakfast, which was plentiful and had a large variety.
This was our third stay at Holiday Inn, Reading South and it won't be our last.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BWev Conference and stay at Reading Holiday Inn
Although booked by a company for me to run a 3 week training course, my personal feelings are that this is an excellent venue with first class facilities for conferences, excellent food and kept in a clean and orderly manner. . The staff are all very helpfull and provide thier services in a positive, friendly way.
Just some small gripes, the baths towels are too small and the rooms are slightly dated.
Have stayed at the hotel a number of times before and look forward to the next visit.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by AnneClare Ideal for our trip
This was the ideal place to stay the night before Reading Half Marathon. The location was perfect - only about 10 minutes' walk from the Madjeski stadium, which meant there was no trouble leaving when we were finished (any closer and the roads would still have been closed).
The hotel was well prepared for the event, with lots of runners staying that night. It was a nice touch to have free tea and coffee available to take away for our journey by the front door.
As a Priority Rewards customer, I didn't know I was able to have a free extended check-out so I was very pleased to be offered it by the lady who checked us in. As the weather was so bad, it was great to be able to come back to the hotel and shower before setting off home.
I will re-book for the same event next year.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Oldie Excellent value and very helpful staff
Used the Reading Half Marathon room tariff. Excellent value for money, and ideal position for that event.
Clean and quiet room, good overall facilities (for my taste bed was too hard, but otherwise a perfectly good room).
A good variety of food available, which is good because there are not many alternatives within walking distance. Some of it a little pricey but the bar menu was ok and of good quality. The kids deal in the main restaurant was a good idea and helped keep the cost down,
Staff were very friendly and helpful with all needs.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Runners Reading half marathon
I spend nearly 100 nights a year in the ihg group of hotels and on some occasions because myself and a friend are running half of full marathons and for the first time the hotel took on board the need of the runners many who selflessly run for charities, late check out was not an issue and coffee was on supply in reception as runners came back with spectators. An excellent experience. I have run the London marathon the last two years and stayed at the ic park lane and found that they do not make any allowances for the runners so much so I have moved my stay to the cp st James this year. As a valued customer the flagship hotel should take a leaf out of readings example and look to support the runners and their customers. Well done to all at reading south
