Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great expectations not realised Not a good experience, we were travelling to visit our new grandson so it was an exciting time for us. We decided to break the journey rather than travel there and back the same day so quiet evening, nice meal, few drinks and early night was the plan. The Hotel is cold - there is no nice way to say it, it was bleeding freezing! We were not alone - one diner had their coat on, one had a huge scarf / wrap and only her hands peeped out to get the food. Then the food was not good TBH, Garlic Mushrooms on a toasted bap? Strange - and the juice had made the bap soggy. Then the Steak and Ale pie- Award winning? I think not. presentation was poor. Room quiet and bed comfy. Again, room cold, the air con did kick in but it was slow and when we were in the restaurant, it reset itself down to the lower level so we returned to a tepid room - and as the restaurant was cold we froze. Breakfast was very nice - albeit it could have been warmer (the lights were not warming the food enough) and the plates hot. Again, drafts all around undermined a nice breakfast. Overall not an enjoyable experience! December 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Average A average hotel. All basic services works, and there is no major flaws. The rooms seems a bit worn out, but its okay. The free wifi is not really useable and the staff in the restaurant do not seem to know what they are doing, forgets your order and you have to wait for a long time. The food itself is fine. When you sit in the restaurant you have the feeling of sitting in a overloaded railway station. December 14, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Outdated, no lift This hotel needs serious renovation. The restaurant looks nice and modern, but the rooms and halls are old and worn. There is no lift and I had to lug my equipment and luggage up the stairs. This place is unacceptable at this price. I expect a lot more from Holiday Inn. December 7, 2014
