Room service was prompt, good value for money and tasty. However, as a wheelchair accessible room the bathroom had a distinct disadvantage for one who is unable to climb into a bath! Similar rooms at Holiday Inn Express have wet rooms thus enabling the disabled person to shower, either standing or seated, without having to climb into a bath. The existing arrangements here are not disabled friendly! March 13, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Greeting I must say check in facilities has been one of the best and the free glass of wine for priority members at check in was a good touch. I did have issues with the heating not being warm enough. This was acknowledged and an electric heater was provided. Whist I has not booked breakfeast as I tend to eat a low fat diet although haddock was not on the menu they ensured I got a piece of smoked a haddock. Well done Check out was awesome as the yanks would say and the receptionist who checked me out wanted to know an a scale of one to ten how my stay was. I have an 8 for the caring attitude for the great attitude all staff had whilst staying there. Plus for those who like coffee to go this was on tap FOC. Yes I would stay there again as long as the room was up to temperature. Great keep it up March 4, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Needs overhaul, cold room to boot! Location - good for Reading. Food - had room service 3 times on varying stays, each time has been disappointing. All the rooms I have been in badly need modernisation. During recent cold snap, got to hotel late (around (9:20pm) got to room to find it literally freezing. Put the air con on hot but it cut out less than an hour later (and they hardly blow out any air in anyway). No other heating system in the room. Complained to front desk and they arranged for an electric/oil radiator type heater - room was warm enough by the time I went to bed. Don't think I will be returning to this Holiday Inn any time soon. On another general note, internet should be free - I find it disgusting that most Holiday Inns I visit are charging £16 for one night access. March 3, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly and Willing Staff All the staff we dealt with - Front Desk, Restaurant and Room Staff - were all very friendly and tried hard but the hotel bedrooms really do need some urgent attention. The Restaurant Food was acceptable but greater attention is needed to ensure that the main course is not presented to the guests before their starters! March 1, 2013

Poor bed, on wheels so moved around when you turned at night causing it to move away from the wall and the pillow would fall down behind the bed. Location was for me okay. No lift, not informed of this upon arrival although given a first floor room. I had my 80-year-old mother with me. No help offered with my mother's suitcase (this did bother me and no I shouldn't have to ask). Breakfast was excellent. All in all an average experience. February 23, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Recent stay Enjoyed a good stay at Holiday Inn- purpose was to relax and recharge batteries .Check in was nothing special no mention of priority club or polite banter. Checking out staff member was excellent much more pleasant. 2 rooms for our family were as expected however, we did feel that 1 room smelt of smoke which shouldn't be the case in no smoking rooms. Restaurant staff were very attentive and efficient. Felt the food wasn't as good as other stays here, or other holiday inns. We describe the food as average at the very least this time. Poor cooking of steaks and felt cold buffet breakfast looked tired. Swimming pool was warm as was the jacuzzi. All in all, satisfied what we required. February 9, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Cold room I recently traveled alone for a football match and was put in a downstairs room away to the furthest part of the hotel from the reception, i felt as if i was being singled out as a football thug there to cause trouble which is not, i traveled down from scotland and was away first thing, i wish i just got the overnight train home, my room was cold and the shower had no hot water February 7, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by One member of staff's attitude cast a shadow on otherwise perfect stay Facilities were plush and well thought out. The food was very good quality and offered lots of choice. The room was very comfortable and offered all possible extras and even luxuries. I was sad not to be able to give 5 stars as the hotel and room deserved that, if it had not been let down by a rogue staff member in amongst others who were faultless. Sad to come away with this feeling when so much was done to make it perfect by so many. February 1, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient location For a 2 night stay over Xmas to enable us to visit family nearby ,the Holiday Inn was perfectly located. The room was as predicted and comfortable,although the bathroom was on the small side but for the price quite adequate. Breakfast,we have to say was very bland. The taste not particularly appetising. Parking ,no problem at all and we would use this Hotel again but have reservations about the food. January 3, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Excellent staff, tired rooms In comparison with other IHG hotels in the area the Holiday Inn - South Reading is beginning to look a bit well worn. The rooms are dated and tired and in need of a good refurbish (especially the bathrooms) before they will represent good value for money. However, the beds are generally very comfortable. Balanced against this the Check-In staff are very professional and always welcoming, Housekeeping do a splendid task and the meeting rooms are good. The restaurant food is OK but the restaurant lacks atmosphere and feels about ten years out of date. WiFi charges are extortionate in this day and age! A real mixed bag that I feel is not representative of the generally excellent Holiday Inn brand. December 19, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by comfi bed wouldn't recommend the restraunt, although the food was ok, the service wasn't very good and food just ok, this was a evening meal not breakfast, we did speak to manager who was fantastic and done everything he could to sort things out. we didn't get to go into the bar as 1 night their was a private wedding and the next the football had been on, but we've always had brilliant experience before December 16, 2012

Having stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions I cannot remember a great meal. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great service, but no free Internet Hi, I chose the hotel because of it's location to my company. This is my 3rd and maybe the last Holiday Inn experience. The Internet price was a disaster. Why do you charge for the Internet anyway? At least have a subscription option for a week. I would not like to stay again or recommend to my colleagues. Please consider making the Internet free or at least include it in the room's price. The food was really good in dinner, but the service was too slow. You will wait ages for everything. Also my room didn't include an iron and board although my colleagues did. I am not sure why is that? December 6, 2012

A long walk from reception but this was fine The check in lady was helpful and polite I needed to cancel two nights due to illness and I had prepaid but the manager promised he would refund one night. I look forward to receiving this A major negative for holiday inn is that they charge you for wi fi This may make me make a different decision re staying with them in future I stayed at double tree in London the previous week Not only free wi fi but a upmarket apple PC to use for free!
