Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised with the beautiful hotel setting and the room. The first night we awoke around two in the morning with loud conversation in the hallway. We found out that there were two wedding parties in house which may have been the reason for the loud behavior. The second night we were awakened at 3:45 am with what sounded like raucous behavior or maybe fighting . . . only to find out there was a prom. When we awoke on Sunday morning, I was in the shower when the tub was filling up with water. When I got out of the shower, the shower began filling up with brown water. When I called the front desk, a gentleman from housekeeping came up. He said he would call the plumber since he hadn't seen anything like this in his years of working at the hotel. There also seemed to be some sort of activity/sound in the walls. Then the toilet water started rising to the top. My husband had to go the lobby to use the public facilities. The value for this hotel was superb, but we were greatly inconvenienced the last morning and had to leave earlier than expected. The desk clerk said she was sorry for our inconvenience, but hoped we had a good stay.

We had an early dinner (sandwiches) at the bar. The bartender/waitress went out of her way to serve us. She was friendly and very helpful.

I truly enjoyed my stay. It was very clean, people were friendly. They even had 2 conferences and still treated me very nice. I will stay there again. Price was excellent since most places raised them due to the Richmond Race.

On the Con side, it usually took two calls to the front desk (about 12 to 20 rings each time) before contact was made to establish a wake-up time. Room doors need new or better closers, ours slammed with a loud bang even from 6 inches open. Lighting needs to be redone in CFL type flourescent lamps to get more brightness with less wattage (bathroom was fairly well lit). You also might think about putting in raised toilets even if not a handicapped equipped room or have a couple of rooms for seniors that have mobility problems but are not physically disabled (wheelchair or motorized chair bound). On the Pro side, the restaurant or bistro staff was excellent and the food was quite good.

I travel to Richmond for business, and the Holiday Inn Koger Center has become my favorite hotel. The staff is always helpful and friendly, the rooms are comfortable and clean and the Midlo Bistro offers great choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I highly recommend this hotel for a business or personal stay!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by ArturoM Unsupportive personnel in front desk
Even though the hotel is conveniently located, and offers a very good shuttle service within 5 mile radius, the front desk staff was very unsupportive. I was assigned a room right beside a service elevator, and got all kinds of noise starting 5:00AM. Had to change to an "executive floor room" where the bathroom door got stuck every time I had to use it.
Also, when asked for a late checkout, even being a Platinum member of their Priority club, all I got was a couple of hours, that I had to leave my daughters waiting for me in reception.
