I will go back there in a couple of weeks because I really enjoyed it. Although, one downside was a group came in around midnight and were talking loudly in the corridor for about 4 min. This is not the hotel's fault but the fault of insensitive guest.

We arrived early in the day and stopped in to see if we could check in...the front desk clerk barely made eye contact as she continued to do her paperwork that was spread out on the counter...there were no other guests around and the phone wasn't ringing..she made us feel as if we were an interruption..
We called a few hours later and asked if the room was ready and spoke to a different lady who was wonderfully friendly and told us to come on in that rooms had been ready all morning since they weren't sold out the night before...WOW!
When we arrived to check in both ladies were there and only then did the first clerk show any signs of friendliness at all...perhaps the other one was her Supervisor??
This property has been know in Roanoke for years as a beautiful place to stay..and we will go back...but only because it has the best indoor pool in town!

All of the other Holiday Inns where we have stayed provided complimentary breakfast. Given that there are other Holiday Inns in the area that offer breakfast with your stay, our family will choose a different one next time.

This by far, was the worst Hotel I've experienced in the IHG program. Hopefully if IHG truly values their customers they will take immediate action to educate their representatives on customer service both at the Front Desk and Management. I conveyed my issues with the Front Desk, evidently they were unable or unwilling to share with Management.
I have notified my business associates and travel managers to remove this location from being an option for both leisure and business reservations.
I was pleased with dining options elsewhere as there are some General Mangers in the area that are concerned with my future business.

Staff was friendly and the hotel was gorgeous. We were traveling back from our son's and decided not to drive all the way home. We stopped in and was very impressed with the hotel.

I most appreciate a quiet and comfortable stay, which is what I received here. However, I can't rate 'excellent" in all categories for the following reasons -- 1 - terrible coffee in the room, seriously - tasted old and like mud! 2 - not enough electrical outlets in the room, 3 - lighting in the bathroom is dark, 4 - overall decor is very dated and dingy.
The positives - very comfortable bed, friendly staff, quiet room, requested away from the elevator and received a room down the hall, great shopping and dining nearby, plenty of parking, decent free wi-fi, convenient room amenities like the fridge and microwave.

I've stayed at this Holiday Inn before and had good experiences. But this time, the air conditioning in my room didn't work. I woke up to at 75-degree room with no fan. When I called the front desk to see if there was something else I needed to do to get the air flowing I was told that the a/c probably didn't work in that room. I was surprised by his lack of surprise!
I was moved to another room and got a good sleep -- but it was after having to get dressed, repack all my stuff and then move to a new room. While this was a workable solution, I don't think the problem should have occurred to begin with. I informed the manager at check-out. She was apologetic and offered bonus points to my IHG account.
