I most appreciate a quiet and comfortable stay, which is what I received here. However, I can't rate 'excellent" in all categories for the following reasons -- 1 - terrible coffee in the room, seriously - tasted old and like mud! 2 - not enough electrical outlets in the room, 3 - lighting in the bathroom is dark, 4 - overall decor is very dated and dingy.
The positives - very comfortable bed, friendly staff, quiet room, requested away from the elevator and received a room down the hall, great shopping and dining nearby, plenty of parking, decent free wi-fi, convenient room amenities like the fridge and microwave.

I've stayed at this Holiday Inn before and had good experiences. But this time, the air conditioning in my room didn't work. I woke up to at 75-degree room with no fan. When I called the front desk to see if there was something else I needed to do to get the air flowing I was told that the a/c probably didn't work in that room. I was surprised by his lack of surprise!
I was moved to another room and got a good sleep -- but it was after having to get dressed, repack all my stuff and then move to a new room. While this was a workable solution, I don't think the problem should have occurred to begin with. I informed the manager at check-out. She was apologetic and offered bonus points to my IHG account.

Great Location off I-81 and a nice property. Lobby/Restaurant,/Pool Area is huge and well kept. Food was excellent and bar staff although could have been friendlier was very accommodating and helpful.

Had a very enjoyable stay and would highly recommend it to others. Didn't use the pool but my friends did and they said it was great.

The front desk clerk who checked me in was very rude and condescending every time that I talked with her. My company had made reservations for two night and I have the confirmation email in my hand. She argued rudely that I had no such reservation but that she would FIX OUR MISTAKE. I think this could have been handled in a much more customer friendly say.
I was not recognized as a rewards member.
The clerk at check out was much more friendly.
The hotel was beautiful and very clean.

The hotel looks nice, but they are so under staffed that the service is terrible. The room came with a free pizza, but do to being under staffed, it sat down at the front desk until I went there looking for it. The towels at the pool were always running out and took ten minutes on the emergency phone to get the understaffed single person at the front desk to answer. Took an hour to have extra blankets delivered to the room. After we checked out realized that the kids had left a bag of cloths in the room. When I called lost and found they said they Didint find anything. I am guessing that the cleaning staff was so under staffed that they just throw out what ever is left in order to save time. This is the third holiday inn I have stayed at this week, and they all seem to have cut the help back so much that service is now lousy!

Yet another great stay at the Holiday Inn Valley View in Roanoke, VA. Hotel staff is fantastic, always exceed my expectations.
