Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Waiting and waiting again.... I stay here a lot and can appreciate when staff are busy, particularly if they acknowledge the fact. However on my last stay there was a q practically out of the door to check in with one staff. After a period of waiting I went to the bar to get a drink deciding to head back later to check in. No staff at the bar, .....waited ...then got someone from the restaurant to serve. Went back to check in, all fine upgrade to exec room. Got to room with luggage, lap top etc and key did not work. Made decision to leave luggage by door rather than trek it all back. saw phone on wall. Sign said lift reciever and connect to reception. Phone rang and rang...Got new key after walking all the way back..told staff about phone and they shrugged and aplogised. Went down for dinner...waiting to be seen to a table....waiting to order food...waiting for food to arrive, seriously 1 hour from sitting down and finishing eating, and I only had a main course . This was not as described on the menu. I ordered a spatchcock and got half a chicken..not the same. There seemed to be no staff around. Breakfast whole differnt story, eggs made to order, quick and hot and friendly staff banter. Come on management get a grip! November 24, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly and helpful staff and great night's sleep Quick check in and very friendly and helpful staff on the front desk. Room service was quick, the food was hot and great quality. The room was well furnished with a desk space and easily accessible plug sockets. The bathroom furnishings were a little dated and marked but clean. It would have been useful to have another large towel but I'm sure another on eowuld have been provided if I had asked! Overall - very comfortable stay and a great night's sleep. Would stay again. November 24, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Kitchen Nightmares Arrived and checked in at hotel. Wanted to watch England v Scotland match so decided to go fro room service and ordered at 8PM. Was told would be 1 hour so thought ok maybe its busy so can wait. Fifty minutes later got a call to say would take longer due to 'issues' in the kitchen and they would add an extra drink for free. At 9.30 was completely fed up so asked when order would arrive but couldn't give a time so cancelled order. Then had to go out of hotel to local shop missing most of second half of match in process. Very disappointed with service - would have prefered to be told at 8 they couldn't serve food. On top of this when I checked out in the morning they tried to charge me for my cancelled order, then asked if my stay had been a good one. I stay at many IHG hotels during the year but will avoid this hotel in future. November 23, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by What's going on Not happy with the hotel, prices have gone up and standards have gone down. We stay at the hotel several times a year but were very disappointed with our last stay. The room could have been cleaner, smaller and plastic bottles of water in fridge, no pen and pad in room, channels cut from the tv. We ordered bar food and it was uneatable, the worst we have ever had, we complained and got our money back and we were not the only ones that complained, no coffee or tea available in reception in the morning, you now have to pay for it. I don't know what is going on but it putting me off staying there again, even though I am gold elite member and I need to stay there again in December, I am thinking of going to another hotel. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good Value, but some concerns Have stayed at this hotel 4-5 times now and it is generally a good hotel. It is clean and not tired and has decent food for reasonable prices. This time the front desk never answered the phone despite me calling 3 different times (and at different times in the day). The bed pillows were not very good and the heat didn't work on a fairly chilly night. The wall thermostat said it was only for AC and opening the wall heater valve did nothing (front desk wouldn't answer the phone for me to complain). The room was also very far from reception. The only issue we had was the location of the reception/unloading area - very difficult to get to for seniors with bad knees - especially having to lift our luggage down November 6, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Tired and unhappy The Hotel could do with an update, being confronted with mould and fungus on the bathroom ceiling is totally unacceptable, and it wasn't just a small patch it was nearly half of the whole ceiling, the survey is a bit unfair in so much as staff and service are bundled together, the staff were great but if they are working under poor management or poor practice the service can be described as poor , there is no way to separate the two. Send in some management from head office without telling the Hotel and see what it is really like as a customer, November 2, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Hotel!! This really is a super hotel. The hotel is clean, quiet and the staff are really friendly. All the staff were interested in the reason for our stay and had time for a chat. The swimming pool, steam room and sauna were clean and complimentary to guests. We use the hotel as is it less than five minutes away from Buckmore Park. I have marked down on the room cleanliness as the underside of the sink, in the bathroom, needed a wipe. Not a major issue but you notice it when you are seated on the loo. Secondly, the value of the room is good, the value of the food & the drinks is not, as always! The food is excellent, it is just too expensive! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be using the hotel again in the very near future! October 23, 2014

We were upgraded to an executive room which was very quiet (a little warm due to air con not working, mentioned to reception staff at check out and felt confident that they would deal with it). We enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at the pool, which is a lovely bonus to this hotel, followed by a tasty evening meal in the restaurant. The food was beautifully presented and there was a very wide choice on the menu. We chose to book breakfast at check in, this is cheaper than booking on the day. Again the food selection was outstanding as were the staff. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it. October 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great place to stay I was having some major work done to my house and needed to stay elsewhere for a few days because I was working nights and needed to be able to sleep during the day. The Holiday Inn was brilliant for this for all sorts of reasons but for 3 especially. 1) there were notices around the hotel asking other guests to be considerate to nightworkers. 2) The window had inside shutters, rather than curtains and, when they were in place, the room was totally dark and totally quiet. 3) There was a fridge in the room so I could keep the ingredients to make sandwiches to take to work. It was also a comfortable room with TV and wifi, the breakfast was very nice indeed and the staff were helpful. I would most definitely recommend this hotel to other people and have already earmarked it for another stay when my kitchen is done next year. I'd also try Holiday Inns in other locations when I'm on holiday. October 8, 2014
