A comfortable hotel situated ideally. Road can be noisy at night if you have a room overlooking the road. Also, smoking outside the hotel is an issue.

I booked a room at the hotel and had confirmation it was booked. My husband and two young children arrived to be told despite booking the hotel was full and we couldn't stay. We spent nearly an hour very late at night with one tired and one sleeping child whilst staff went and checked thing and made phone calls but the conclusion was there wasn't a room at the hotel despite booking. The hotel staff were far from polite, some of the comments were, I quote "everyone is unhappy tonight", "there is nothing we can do we don't have a room" to which I was most unhappy and ask the member of staff to call another hotel as where were we supposed to sleep for the night. I had always thought if you booked a room it meant it was reserved for you but clearly not. The hotel staff did say there system had been down for 3 days and they had no idea who what was going on but I don't feel this was acceptable.

Due to all aspects of hotel running being computer driven, when the IT stops working, so does everything else! I stay at this particular hotel around ten days a month and this usually wonderful hotel crashed and burned...... it was only the dedication of the staff that kept her afloat!

We have stayed at the Rochester - Chatham hotel on many occasions over the years. As always the reception staff greet us with enthusiasm and make you feel like family members they have not seen for a while. Always friendly and helpful. The quality of the room was exceptional and most importantly we always get a comfortable nights stay. As an IHG member we get that special touch all the time. Well done. Mr

We enjoyed a relaxing two night break at this hotel. Staff were very helpful, friendly and the room was clean and in very good order. The swimming pool was warm and a lovely place to relax. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious and the restaurant staff were very helpful and friendly.

We use this hotel 2-3 times a year as a base for visiting family in Kent. For us this works really well and
as a bonus, our 12 year old grandson who accompanies us from Cornwall enjoys the swimming pool when we return to base in the evening.
The breakfast is good and great value, served by friendly staff. The rooms with fridge and a TV are clean and comfortable serviced by an efficient and pleasant staff.
We would recommend Holiday Inn both here and in other locations we have visited.

Stayed overnight for a business meeting the next day. At check-in it was quite busy with a queue forming as I arrived at 3 in the afternoon. Had a problem with my rewards account, which the lady at check-in was very patient with but unable to resolve, which would have meant no internet, however she worked around that problem. Room was very comfortable, and mostly clean, except the mugs and spoons, which were clearly not cleaned or replaced. The hotel has a swimming pool (didn't use) and nice restaurant, and is very well decorated with comfortable surrounds. Not a cheap hotel, which charges for internet unless you are a rewards member, and over £12 for breakfast. Overall, quite a nice hotel but seriously overpriced

I stay at the Holiday Inn every week for either 2 or 3 nights and have recently requested room 159 which has always been a quite room to be in, unfortunately my last stay was a little disturbed 2 out of the 3 mornings at 05:20 from one of the rooms surrounding me, not 59 or 161.
Someone had obviously set their alarm for 05:20 but on the first occasion didn't silence it for 20 minutes by which time I was wide awake, the second morning the alarm was stopped after 5 minutes, and I got back to sleep.
Overall my stays at the a Holiday Inn are pleasurably, and I must have been unlucky on this occasion.
I have said it before the staff are both helpful and friendly always, see you next week.

We stayed as a family for a single night in August taking two rooms. The Hotel staff were friendly and attentive and the head Waiter in the restaurant was nothing short of fantastic. The rooms were comfortable and clean. We visit the UK regularly and will definitely stay there again.

The staff at this hotel are the best I have encountered in a long time, the hotel is comfortable, clean and the food is fresh and very well presented.
I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be staying again.

Had a lovely time with our 3 year old granddaughter, all made to feel very welcome! Had a good time in the swimming pool, both dinner and breakfast meals were superb! Looked after all three of us very well! All our needs catered for and made to feel valued! Always enjoy a very pleasant stay here! Special thanks to the Housekeeping team whom found the dolly our granddaughter left behind in the room and looked after it until our son collected it! Look forward to our next stay with you.

This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel and I believe that the hotel has improved greatly since the first time a few years ago.
Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff we encountered and we all felt relaxed, cared for nd comfortable throughout our stay.
The quality of the food has also improved.
We shall be back!

Stayed for the 2014 international mini Meet and found the hotel nice in appearance and comfortable apart from the pillow ( Did end up buying one from local supermarket)
All apart from the pillow and what felt like a mile walk to our room (Although very nice area of the hotel and peaceful) Hotel was very nice.
I would also like to say the girl on reception on check-in had one of the nicest smiles I have seen for a long time and felt genuine. (All staff have been very friendly)
It was overall very nice and comfortable and would consider going back to the hotel due to location and staff and how clean it all was.

We chose this hotel as it was near where we wanted to be. The room was booked well in advance and so they know our needs which wasn't a disabled room. I have stayed at various Holiday Inn's around the UK this is why I picked this one, plus I have stayed here once before. We did not have breakfast as we thought the price being charged was very expensive for what was on offer

Used the hotel as stage for wedding invitation in Chatham.
Hotel very good and reasonable price BUT
Breakfast, well at £13+ per person for either full English or continental I thought it was to steep!
Paid but never had the meal on the Sunday following the escapade on Saturday.
Sadly put a damper on the stay.

A less than 24hr stay and didn't avail of all the services. The dining room had little character and a display could have been arranged on the large oval table that was instantly before you as you entered the area,( it was obvious this is where the breakfast buffet was placed). The food was excellent. Hot freshly cooked fish and chips, delicious! Manager (man in suit) needs to sew his trouser pocket!!! Waiting staff were very attentive and diligent.
Breakfast was lovely, plenty of food and as much as you wanted. Unfortunately, the morning staff were more interested in talking about their antics the previous night, no one seemed to be in charge. I am just nit picking, but needed to be said. Overall pleasant stay.

This is a perfectly adequate and comfortable hotel in the price range. The people here are outstandingly friendly, helpful and courteous across the hotel and particularly in reception. The only BUT here is in connection with the bar and restaurant. There is very poor organisation and someone needs to take control. Everyone seems to do everything and not always efficiently. On two occasions we had to wait an unacceptably long time (30mins plus) for a simple sandwich in the bar and a Caesar salad in the restaurant. And why were used plates dumped and allowed to pile up on a big tray in the restaurant just by where we sat (we stayed three nights)? Food is good quality but there are too many strange sauces with no explanation of what they are (and we are well travelled).

there was a wedding on when we stayed so alot of noisy off guests , the main thing was the air con in our rooms didn't work , it was 28- 30%c on the night, yet when we asked we were told it had broken,but air con to all lounges ,bars, wedding function room, corridors ,& reception still worked,staff gave us a fan but that wasn't much help so it was a sleepless night, other wise the room was clean& tidy ,food in bar was nice

Generally good, with pleasant staff. TV was wonky and not corrected at first try. Was sorted the next day.
Beds are comfortable and the position is good for a Kent base. Particularly good for Northeners who want a break point within an hour of the Shuttle to France. But lots of good country houses to visit within an hour or so, so good for UK or France.
Breakfast a very good start to the day and swimming pool a great benefit, particularly with present hot weather.

I stayed for a number of days as I was putting thoughts together for a book. The room was excellent and the staff worked around me in cleaning the room etc.
I was always greeted by a smile and it seems that the staff enjoy working here.

The best bit about our stay was the friendliness and service provided by the staff. They seemed to manage a good balance between being efficent and professional and yet making you feel so welcome.
Nothing was too much trouble and all our requests were met with a smile.

We chose the Holiday inn Rochester as it was the nearest hotel to our next stop - a lunch with Italian friends,
Having stayed at the Gatwick Holiday Inn several times on our way to Italy during the past months, we know we can be assured of good service, a comfortable bed, clean room and value for money at a Holiday Inn. Also free car parking!!
We were not disappointed. Excellent service by reception with complimentary drinks for "Club" members and, although the hotel was extremely busy, they made room for us for dinner.
Room clean and well appointed and a quick and friendly check out the following morning.
Superb value for money. We will certainly choose Holiday Inn again.
