As a group of 15 stayed for our visit to Dickensian Christmas in Rochester, I can say we were very happy with the rooms and the staff we very helpful.The pool was a bonus and breakfast was great.

The staff were superb - friendly, helpful and went out of their way to meet all our needs and requests.
The room was tastefully decorated, bright and welcoming and extremely clean.
I would highly recommend this hotel and will probably visit it again next year.

On arrival, staff at reception seemed welcoming enough, and as a Priority Club member check in was swift (besides check-in, see no added value whilst at hotel). However, the following issues arose during our stay:
1. I was convinced that I had breakfast included in our deal - and thought I checked this on the HI website before booking - not so. At breakfast we were told, 'no, you will have to pay full price'. Ok - this might be my error, but the website needs to be much clearer about what you have booked.
2. At dinner, was asked ' do you have any vouchers?' No was my reply. Staff advised 'Reception should have offered discount vouchers for dinner and breakfast'. None were offered. At end of dinner, I signed chity to pay on departure. Ten minutes later received a call in my room from Dining Room. 'You have not set up a tab - You will need to come back to pay full bill' I did so. It seems Reception should have asked me if I wanted to set up a tab but this did not happen.
3. Room was comfortable and clean #Executive Room# but bathroom is looking a bit tired and out of date #bath mat had black mould on it# - needs upgrading.
4. Swimming Pool Ok but water could have been a few degrees warmer for my taste.
Overall, it's OK and reasonable value but probably will look to alternate next time I visit the area.

My wife and I stayed 17/18 november very satisfied with the hotel,but feel we were let down with the evening meals.We found them poor value and the steaks were served up on a wooden board!!! hardly hiegenic!!,
The drinks also were expensive,so we went out next night to the Harvester nearby,the hotel was fully booked but very few used the dining room.

If you check my Priority Club you will see I stay in a whole range of Holiday Inns across the country. But this si the worst of the lot. I have poreviously complained about it and had refunds and recieved promises that it will change, but it doesnt.
I booked on line a double room with sofa bed non-smoking. This booking was confirmed. on arrival I was told that the hotel was full, with the exception of a twin smoking room. I questioned this and was offered as the only alternative a twin, disabled room.
As there was no choice I took the disabled room. But I was not told that there is a green light that stays on all night in the room. therefore I spent two nights without being able to sleep.
On departure I complained. I was give a part credit. I was further told this happens a lot as someone does not update the web site.
To add to the other poor experiences I have experienced at this hotel, I will not stay here again.

We stayed here in a family room while we attended a family party.
The room was lovely and made up for us when we arrived.
We didn't use the restaurant as we were going out.
The check in staff were very helpful.
The late check out on Sunday was great but I did think that £10.50 per person for breakfast was a bit expensive so we didn't have this either.
Room was very clean and spacious.

Best holidays inn I have stayed in so far.
However the breakfast was £10 what a waste over priced for the quality of food, yes it was buffet but slimy greasy and tasteless

Excellent value DBB, lots of lovely walks and indoor places to visit close to, and easily accessible from, the hotel. Staff friendly, room clean and comfortable.

Room was facing the main road that passes the hotel. Road noise meant a very bad nights sleep. Phone in the room was not working so had to wait some time in the bar to find a member of staff to place an order for room service. Quality of food ordered was good - nice salad. However, breakfast was very poor with luke warm cooked food.

Our stay would have been a lot better had it not been for the over 30s night! Very noisy! Difficult to sleep. Will try to avoid the party night if we stay again. Quite a few hairs left in the bathroom so must not have been cleaned very well and an empty carrier bag left in the room which the cleaner must have missed!

In general a good stay. Room cleam and comfortable
Restaurant staff had an "am I bothered " attitude to service. Could not cope with many guests wanting to eat at same time despite having empty tables. Asked to wait for a table !!! Called Restaurant manager, she too had a "we are busy, you will have to wait" stance. Called duty manager who sorted the problem swiftly.
Very out of keeping with my HI experiences, some training required I suspect

We were only there for the weekend but the staff made us very welcome. The room and bed were very comfortable. We were very surprised to see the excellent choice of food available. Very good value for money. Would certainly stay again.

Easy to locate, inviting fruit and coffee in reception. Check-in smooth, rooms very clean and comfortable - excellent housekeeping (BEV).
Good quality food at fair prices. Restaurant service terrible due to shortage of staff. Staff on duty bend over backwards to do well but simply cannot cope with all that is asked of them. Male operations manager seemed uninterested and / or unaware of pressure his staff were under. Female manager "Chris" fully aware of hassles but too low down to make changes. Either this hotel makes a serious effort to do a lot better or I would certainly suggest you look to use one of a large number of other hotels in area.
Waited 10 minutes at bar for an order of drinks - simply no staff present to take order. Stunned!

The staff where very nice and helpful. The idea of spending time away from home was to relax in a quite environment, that was not the case as one could hear traffic into late night and very early in the morning. Room was very clean however, small compared to other Holiday Inn Resorts rooms.

We stayed with two young children & had a very enjoyable stay. We have stayed at this Holiday Inn before as we enjoy the use of the Health Club facilities (swimming pool). I noticed that the Team had introduced a childrens "check in desk" & little welcome bags which were lovely touches for my children & made us feel they were welcome.
Rooms are clean & beautifully presented - I find Holiday Inn standards never vary...unlike some other hotel chains. Staff are always helpful & breakfast is delicious & offers a large variety.
Look forward to staying again.

Not the first Holiday Inn I have stayed at. Reception staff were confused by the other couple in my party and myself arriving an hour apart. Good service in the restaurant marred by quality of the food, the chicken that I had ordered had been cooked and kept hot for so long it was tough enough to sole my shoes. Comfortable room and generally good experience. Major criticism is the continuing company policy of making ridiculous charges for internet usage. Competitors either make a token charge or provide for free to guests, free wi-fi is available in pubs, restaurants and even MacDonalds! When I pointed this out to the receptionist she was extremely rude. I cannot recommend my company or clients to use under the circumstances.

All the staff were very welcoming and helpful which made the stay feel it was more than just at a hotel.
For dinner, the staff helped in translating the menu for my french freind, mind you it helped having a french chef who took time to come out form the kitchen.

would thoroughly reccommend this hotel. the best holiday inn i have stayed in yet. staff very helpful and friendly especially cleaning staff always smiling. excellent excellent!!!! took my family of three children all made welcome. definitely going back as loads to visit in the area.

The reception staff were fast and efficient.The room was clean, and fairly well equipped.
Bar service was good. However, my wife and I had to endure the indignity of having me read themenu to her as the large print menu was NOT available. Why somebody couldn't have used the photocopyer is beyond me. The waitress/staff were apologetic but in this day and age this was a dismal bit of customer service.We were told that the area manager would be told, but as yet have not had any contact from them.
on checking out we were asked if everything was OK, we said not really and the respose was "Oh" and that was the end of it.
Very poor service which was a real shame as this was a nice hotel...dobt I would bother going back
