This stay was not up to previous ones a few months ago.
Firstly it took 15 minutes to get checked in. Not just me, there was longer queue behind me when I had finished. Needed more staff and a greater sense of urgency.
Ate in, staff good, meal OK but a bit too "out of the packet" for the price.
Drank in bar - its about time that IHG started serving local beers instead of the mundane and boring Boddingtons everywhere.
Check out has been a disaster. Computer was down. Gave my email address expecting a bill in a few days. When nothing after 10 days contacted customer services. Another week got a phone call late in evening. Eventually, after 3 phone calls 3 emails I paid my bill and got a receipt. Hope I get my points eventually.
Things do go wrong but strong organisations can handle it well internally without hassling the customer.

After our recent holiday we decided to stay at the Holiday Inn Rochester as we have done many times before. The experience was fantastic with friendly staff who are prepared to go the extra mile, great rooms, super pool area, delicious food and a cracking breakfast the following day. We have stayed in many hotels as we travel the country on a regular basis but this hotel is definitely superior to any other.

A comfortable hotel situated ideally. Road can be noisy at night if you have a room overlooking the road. Also, smoking outside the hotel is an issue.
