Hard to find parking garage and it was full, alternative not near check in...no street side check in. Very noisy rooms, bathroom very tiny, have to close door to use the toilet. Pool is off the lobby and not very private. We will never stay there again, even if for free.

Overall it was a comfortable stay. Everything was ready and presentable at check in. The staff was sufficient and the cleanliness was up to expectations. The lay out of the building was very disappointing and so was the parking.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jason2018 Unfair to ALL guests affected.
This review is based from the standpoint of a girls fastpitch softball tournament event that the hotel hosted rooms for many teams.
Understandably, the Mayo Clinic neighbors and the hotel see's many patients staying over.
My only complaint comes from the inability to offer rooms to guests appropriate to their needs. Our softball families sat in the pool area for the siblings of the players to swim only to be bothered by hotel managers several times followed by security; then the Rochester Police. Guests with rooms only 6 feet from the poolside tables complained to us personally about chair noise on the tile floor and loud children while rest was needed for their appointment in the morning at the Mayo Clinic. All while the pool was open.
Given the hotel's actions; this Holiday Inn Downtown Rochester, MN should stray from hosting events that would include children looking to enjoy the pool offerings given the incompetence of filling rooms where needed, the inability to silence chairs on the tile pool floor and by not controlling this issue by such things as earlier curfews and or earlier pool closings should that be the direction needed. Not only did we find it unfair to the swimming pool users; also to the guests in rooms close to the pool if this problem is a common occurrence.
In closing: As a young parent with many stays ahead for sporting events. (this same annual tournament) I will spread the word as this Hotel is "NOT" recommended what so ever.

The room was very clean and the staff was very helpful. The fount desk was always there to help, and the food we ate there was good. There could be more of a verity on the menu.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Tootsie59 Holiday Inn Rochester, MN Downtown
We stayed at this Holiday Inn because of our appointments at the Mayo Clinic. It was within walking distance (2 blocks from clinic) and since we like to walk, was a bonus and not a problem. This hotel is well taken care of, but be aware the pool is located inside a "courtyard" and if you have an interior room, you will have 2 doors; 1 that comes off the corridor and 1 that comes off the poolside. The pool doesn't close until 10pm, so don't expect to get to sleep earlier than that unless you are a "heavy" sleeper. Management is very good about closing the pool at 10pm and it gets very quiet after that. If others congregate outside your room and are noisy, don't be afraid to call the front desk. We had to and they were very responsive. The restaurant inside the hotel is very nice but nothing fancy. If you have the time, go to the many local restaurants. The local flavor is fabulous! I would stay her again if needed, but I will also look around for a different hotel and see how their amenities meet my needs.

Very friendly staff which felt like they were overcompensating for this basically sad property. I was only one of three patrons in the restaurant for dinner. Hallways seemed dark and narrow. Hotel windows not clean.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by tallgirl6 It's an OK hotel
Was there with a team...the room smelled really bad like smoke. Some of the other parents complained that their rooms also smelled like smoke. The hotel was sold out so they couldn't move us to another room, but they did try to refresh the room to make it smell better but could only tell a difference slightly. The complimentary breakfast was just ok, they ran out of food

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by SCHEKL20 CLOSE TO MAYO AND HELPFUL STAFF
AS A PATIENT RETURNING TO MAYO CLINICS STAYING AT THE HOLIDAY INN MAKES MY TRIPS COMFORTABLE AND AFFORDABLE. PARKING AND SKY WALK ARE EXTREMELY HELPFUL FOR GETTING TO MAYO CLINICS, AND GETTING TO RESTAURANTS, SHOPPING, AND OTHER EVENTS DOWNTOWN. THE HOTEL STAFF IS ALWAYS VERY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY AND MY MULTIPLE STAYS AT THE HOLIDAY INN OVER THE YEARS HAVE MADE GOING TO THE DOCTORS WORRY FREE.
