Holiday Inn has always been my favorite brand and this hotel didn't let me down. The location is quite far as an airport hotel, yet airport shuttle works it out. The room is clean and nice, offers nice quality of sleeping.

I stay at this hotel often when in NY. The staff is courteous and professional. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The rooms could be a bit larger and the Bathrooms are small otherwise a great hotel. It will continue to be my choice when in NY.

We chose this hotel because you can walk to shops and restaurants without needing a car nor a taxi.We had a 12 hour layover at JFK and did not want to slog into Manhattan.
It is not the most interesting area around, but there are plenty of shops, a waterfront restaurant. Shops are mostly cheap chain stores (TJMaxx, Kmart etc.) restaurants nothing special although to be fair, we did not get to the waterfront one which looked very nice.
If you have enough time, you can take a local bus (a few $) or a taxi ($50 oneway) or the Long Island railroad - to beaches not far off (Long Beach on Long Island, or Rockaway) which sounded great but we were too lazy to make the effort. That would be not a bad alternative to spending time on the subway in and out of Manhattan - which is of course worth a subway ride unless you happen to have spent time there already, which we have often.
The only thing missing would have been a swimming pool, but for the price one cannot expect it at an airport hotel.
As a rewards member, they kindly gave me an extended checkout till 15.00 pm at zero extra cost, hugely appreciated in view of forthcoming overnight transatlantic flight!
