Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Customer Experience From check-in to check-out, the staff were excellent, particularly the young lady in the leisure centre who engaged with the children and got me a glass of cold water to drink. Little touches like that make customers feel like the service is bespoke to their individual needs. Well done to all the staff! The room was fantastic too: spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. The complimentary chocolate and water were welcome extras. I have stayed here previously on business and it's ideally situated for the South Yorkshire area, including the huge Meadowhall complex a 5 minute drive away. The quality of the staff and facilities encouraged me to return with my family and we all had a great stay. I will definitely be returning and would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anybody staying in the locality. November 2, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Issue with room but professionally dealt with Having stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions I was disappointed to find an issue with the bathroom ceiling and cleanliness, however when I brought it to the attention of reception staff she acted upon it immediately and I was moved to another room which was a suite. This room was of the usual standard I expect at this hotel and my night was comfortable. The breakfast had a good choice and service overall was very good. It is a convenient location just off the M1, but just out of range of the noise if you are at the back of the hotel, at the front can be a little noisy from the dual carriageway at the front. It is a little high on price in comparison with better IHG I have stayed in and I hope there are renovations on the cards soon! October 26, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasantly surprised but could be better I stayed with my wife, daughter and grandson for one night B&B. The room was very large and spacious - a corporate king room. It looked to the front of the hotel and while one window blocked out the traffic noise, the other double glazed unit did not. The result, there was a background noise that should not have been there. The air con was working well. The bath panel was looking the worse for ware. The leisure facilities were good and my grandson played in the children's pool. The attendant, a young lady, was most helpful.On asking for ice in the evening from the bar, my wife was told that there were no more ice buckets available and was given a wine glass with ice in it instead. Not really what we wanted. Breakfast was a little disappointing. the pancakes, cold meat and cheese present at my last Holiday Inn stay two weeks previously was missing. Check in was slow due to only one receptionist and she was having to deal with a protracted telephone call. Check out was swift but we were not asked how our stay had been. October 23, 2014

A bedroom with Cobwebs' hanging on the walls, a Bathroom with a mold Ceiling and a leaking mixer valve on the shower spraying water on the floor. TV Remote broken, every to you pick up the remote the battery's fell out. Heating in the room was noisy and could not sleep with it on. Very poor, would not stop here again..... October 18, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient for motorways and Meadowhall Close proximity to the M1 and ample free parking makes this hotel extremely convenient for car travellers, whether for an overnight stop or as a base for exploring the area. Meadowhall shopping centre is only one junction away on the M1, or in fact closer via Bawtry Road. Meadowhall interchange also make the centre of Sheffield easy to reach by bus, train or tram - much easier than driving in. The motorway is far enough away for traffic noise not to be a problem, and neither is there too much noise from the adjacent dual-carriageway. If you are concerned about noise, then request a room at the back as we did. Our room (223) had no view at all, but the only noise was from guests in the car park. Breakfasts are of the typical well-stocked and varied buffet. We had dinner from a set menu, which was nothing special, but enough of it and good value for money. It's worth noting that, other than a well-known burger restaurant, there are no eating options withing walking distance, though there are a pubs within a couple of miles. There is a full range of leisure facilities, which were well-maintained, although the fitness centre was quite small. One minor surprise was that, unlike most other full-service Holiday Inns, this one does not provide bars of soap and bottle of shampoo October 10, 2014

Our daughter, husband and children were staying in a room a few doors away, their room was amazing, it was really big with two double beds, a settee and a small dining table. October 9, 2014

IHG members are acknowledged as valued customers and free wifi is an added bonus. The dining room is particularly good and breakfast excellent. The gym has recently been refitted and there is a nice pool and spa. The hotel location is good, its just a minutes drive from J33 of the M1 and just one junction down from the Meadowhall Shopping Centre and English Institute of Sport (indoor athletics arena). Room was comfortable and clean ____ Bathroom in need of some TLC, cracks and mould round bath, splashes from wash basin dripped onto toilet rolls, door hinges squeaked due to lack of oil. ____ Hotel was busy with weddings and disco but the room was quiet and we were not disturbed. ____ Major gripe was having to walk through a large throng of smokers outside the entrance every time we entered or left the hotel - both in the evenings and in the mornings. The staff service couldn't be faulted, right from reception through to the restaurant, friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant had a good choice and excellent quality. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the only downside was that although clean, the bathroom was dated in its décor and could do with updating. I would recommend the hotel and will be staying again when next in the area. August 25, 2014

My daughter of 3 loved the pool and all the staff were so friendly towards her this made us feel very welcome. The food was ok although didn't always seem as fresh as it could have been and the portions were massive. Our room was lovely and clean and comfortable but our room was located on the third floor by the entrance to the corridor which had a squeaky door that did disturb us, I'm sure a bit of WD40 would solve it. Overall I would definitely recommend staying here. August 19, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Spacious, clean, cool and quite room. Attentive staff. We enjoyed our stay and found the executive family bedroom spacious, cool and quiet. Reception, restaurant and bar staff were welcoming, helpful and attentive. The 'Summer Saver' deal made it very good value and free WiFi via IHG 'rewards' was an appreciated bonus. The pool hadn't reopened in time for our stay which was quite dissapointing for the children. Some meal options ran out on more than one occasion and evening bar suppers took quite a while to arrive.
