Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor room allocation For my recent stay I booked a double room with sofa. As a platinum card holder for many years I also requested a room upgrade if available. On checking in I asked if I had been upgraded and was told I had been put on the fifth floor. When I got to the room it was only a twin with no sofa, smelled as of it was a gym changing room and was certainly not an upgrade. I returned to reception and was told I could not expect a double sofa room as I was travelling alone and that families took priority. The receptionist also stressed that I should not expect an upgrade. She said that the hotel was full and they could move me to a ground floor room. She was singly uninterested. When I checked out the next day I reiterated my disatisfaction and the receptionist on this occasion apologised and said it was clear that I had been bumped out of my booking. This is my second stay at this hotel and the first was not much better. Whilst not expecting special privileges I do think that platinum card members should be given some advantages and that Internet bookings are honoured. I doubt I will use this hotel again. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean conditions, good food and great service The location is readily accessible from the M56. The welcome by staff was a positive experience. My room was in good condition, very clean and the bed was comfortable. The room was quiet and was unable to hear noises from adjoining rooms or water pipes. The whole environment was conducive to relaxing and good rest. The food in the restaurant was of a high quality although I would have preferred a wider choice of menu. The staff throughout were servile and pleasant. The only negative was the training room we used was cold throughout the day despite staff attending to the system. March 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by No Priority recognition or perks upon checking in I had trouble with the details and CCard, but found out later it was EXPOTELS fault, the guy at check in was apologetic and helpful I was disappointed though that I had to point out my PC Membership status and even though I presented my membership card I did not receive an offer of an upgrade My room that I was allocated was smaller than usual (or seemed so) Not a good start but my stay did improve, I had a lovely meal on the second night in the restaurant The young lady serving on was brilliant and the stake was perfect don't think I'll be back though changed my travel arrangements to go to Liverpool next stay March 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A week later and I wish I was back in there lol I really enjoyed the time me and my girlfriend spent at the Runcorn Holiday Inn whilst recently visiting relatives there. The location was ideal and no more than half an hour to Liverpool or Manchester and also not far from Wales. Sadly we ran out of time to take in all those locations so will be back at some point hopefully this year. The only faults with the room were a spill that had dried and not been cleaned in the bathroom behind the door and a small amount of dust on top of the picture frames but that latter point was just tongue-in-cheek being picky, to have those as the only bad points is great for the price and better than many hotels i've stayed at over the years. The view we had was great though, a pleasant wooded area with pond, as a wildlife lover I was realy happy to have a Crane to sit and watch. Sure the summer months will make this look stunning. The service was top and the people round that way very friendly but then we live in Norfolk and people round here don't li ke you unless you're local so short of being beaten up by burglars in the night it was always going to be more pleasant. We were very surprised by the swimming pool and gym that we could have used but unfortunately unable to due to not coming prepared, to have that included in the low cost did actually amaze me. Usually when a business amazes me it's for being bad rather than good so very happy about that. March 9, 2013

Executive rooms are more spacious and better equiped than Standard rooms. There are plenty of leasure and seightseeing possibilities around the hotel. March 7, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by PRICIE ENORMOUS VARIATION AT BOOKING 21 days prior to stay Disappointing at booking time price was higher than the following day rate and there was no way of changing even when calling their premium tel no. and wasting money. They have no way of transferring the on the higher rate to the lower rate even when the booking was done well in advance of the 21 days. Customer care even at the reception was very poor. No attention to customer grievance. This does not give a pleasant stay when you feel that you have been cheated by the pricing rates . I was surprised that the booking structure does not take into account customer booking multiple rooms even the ones at the late stage to the same rate as the cheapest rate booked. I am a priority member and no consideration is given to this and I do not not know whether my points are automatically added or not and whether I am asked whether I can make use of my points when I am booking. VERY VERY POOR EXPERIENCE...I do not know whether I can recommend this hotel or chain of hotel to my friends or families. February 16, 2013

Excellent staff coupled with good facilities and clean tidy rooms. Food is always good with dinner options varied and normally presented well. I've stayed over 20 days in this hotel in the last couple of months and not had a bad stay yet. Keep up the good work! February 1, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel Review This hotel lacks atmosphere. Staff seem overworked, rooms tired looking. Our experience was that the rooms were not ready for 14:00 hrs when booking in. Staff were complaining that they were well past their shift hours. This resulted in us leaving our baggage and returning to our room an hour later. Food here is basic and unappetizing, lacking imagination. Pool and sauna area is well run, clean and relaxing. Overall, this hotel needs to step up. December 7, 2012

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by bad night security We have stayed here many times and never had a real problem. Check in , room etc were good however we were woken by roudy guests at 2am shouting laughing screaming loud music etc. This went on until after 3. Spoilt our relaxing night away to recharge our batteries and very upsetting as you dont know who is outside your room. after a troubled nights sleep we decided to check out @8:25 and not use the pool as we were going to do only to be met on the corridor by 3 pizza takeaway boxes pieces of pizza a glass and broken coat hangers. These were in the area of room 405. (I take it this was were the noice was coming from the night before. I mentioned this to the straight faced man on reception at check out and his responce was "oh dear not good is it? "No it isnt and I would have expected a bit more of an oppoligy. I would think someone from holiday inn would walk the corridors in the night or at least before 8:25 and the mess at best would have been cleaned up. How dissapointing! December 7, 2012

TV: once turned on the volume is very loud, must quickly soften. If it is not my company's choice, personally I won't stay at your hotel. However, still acceptable overall. December 6, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 4/5 I stayed for convenience of a work's do, room was a good price so was the better option, Megan (I think) on reception was friendly and efficient. The room size seemed to be on the smaller side, this was the first Holiday Inn I have stayed in, and compared to other hotels in similar price margins the room was the smallest, however when talking to other guests from my company it seemed I drew the short straw and every one else's room was bigger than mine, I would have been disappointed if the money I paid was unjust but this wasn't the case with the 21 days before deal. This is mostly down to the very warm and friendly greeting I received when checking in and continued the next day at checkout. It makes such a big difference when the person on reception is warm and welcoming while at the same time being effiicient. There was a wedding on but we got no distruption at all. The bedroom was very comfortable, extremely clean & spacious. We will definitely stay there again without a doubt. I did experience a problem with the heating in my room and reported to reception, a member of staff was waiting at my room to meet me and resolve, unfortunately they were unable to fix the problem and moved me into another room within 10 minutes of reporting the fault. Some of the rooms are in need of updating with some rooms already refurbished. Location is ideal for the Motorway for both Liverpool and Manchester and they do know how to cook a steak!! Very difficult to find a parking space, just managed to find one last space due probably to a wedding function. Checking out was unbelievably slow. Delayed for an unacceptable period of time due to a repetitive, slow and silly discussions between the reception with a guest trying to check in at 9am! Making us waiting for 30mins and late for our meeting. October 18, 2012
