We have stayed here a couple of times and have never been unhappy. Wish they served food a bit later but oh well. There are less expensive places to stay but "you get what you pay for." In this case, it is a good value.

Assigned to a room in the older section behind the registration office, but it was very comfortable and quiet. It was just what we wanted and the price was reasonable. We have stayed there before and like the place.

We totally enjoyed our stay at this Holiday Inn Express. The location was ideal for site seeing in San Diego and the surrounding area. Staff was helpful and timely on correcting some minor issues with the room. Would stay at that hotel again.

I stayed on Monday and had to return Friday and the price increased 20% and the rooms were very run down. My wife and I had dinner reservations and was late do to the electric circuit went out and we had to wait 20 minutes for the problem to be fixed before we could get finished getting showered and dressed (no lights, no hair dryer).

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Rileyman Not the Holiday Inn experience I remember
For the price versus value, there are many other choice better than a Holiday Inn to frequent. 15 years ago I traveled quite extensively, and Holiday Inn was a major choice for me. I do not travel as much anymore, and Holiday Inn's have fallen off of my radar. I was staying at this particular Holiday Inn due to my associate had chosen to stay in this hotel. To make our situation easy, I signed up and stayed 5 days here. Huge mistake. To emphasize my regularity at Holiday Inn's, I had to dig through a bag and an old wallet to find my priority card. This hotel is old, and has a smell about it. But what has me upset the most is the lack of customer comfort from the staff. I am naturally high temperature, and the heat really bothers me. My rooms air conditioner, from the first night, would not adjust to a cool level for me. I reported it the next morning to the front desk. The following evening, after an exhausting day, the air conditioner was still not working properly. The service folks came to the room and left a note. Do not adjust the temperature below a certain temperature! That's it! I complained once again the following morning. The next day, late again, the air conditioned was not even looked at, or repaired. Due to getting in late and leaving early, I discontinued my quest for a cool room. Checked out and headed to the airport.

The stop here was my last night on a bicycle trip from San Francisco. All the other stops we stayed at the bargain basement motels with unformfortable beds, 2 pillows, a couple of towels, and no toiletries. It was a pleasure to spend the night here. A great bed, 4 pillows, a bathroom full of towels and toiletries.
We had to get up early the next morning to fly home. The night clerk was wonderful!

My first time at this property and more convenient than other hotels to get to the airport, Point Loma, and anything on Rosecrans. The staff was helpful and the breakfast special was fantastic. With the planned renovations, it will be even better.

We received friendly and efficient service from the staff. We were checked in without delay; the room was very comfortable; we ate at Point Loma Cafe several times, and each time the food was outstanding. We were there for a Navy ship reunion, and we were treated very well. The location was convenient to many restaurants and the harbor. We would stay here again.

I had my wedding there and the staff was wonderful to my self and my guests. They were able to accommodate my last minute requests. We had a 2 bed room for 2 nights and a very spacious suite for the last 2 nights. Rooms were very clean. I was able to access the business office to print out some papers. The laundry room was clean. Great view of the Harbor from my suite.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by bfong Accomodating
Came here with a few friends and originally booked a two bed economy room. Having Priority Club Platinum status with the hotel, the staff was able to accomodate a complimentary room upgrade to a two bed, sofabed suite. It was a Smoking room, but did not have a strong smoking smell to it. Upon arriving into the room, we opened the windows and sliding glass door to let the room air out. The room was clean and housekeeping was perfect. The only two complaints we had were the sofabed being uneven and uncomfortable. When fully extended, part of the bed "sank" causing to sleep at an angle. We remedied this by requesting extra pillows and blankets. Second complaint is not hotel related nor could be controlled by the hotel. There was an early trumpet wake up tune played by the naval ships across the street at 7am that was followed by an orchestra-like Star spangled baner tune. It was interesting and great to hear, but it woke my group up too early! Overall, i would stay at the hotel and recommend to others. It's convenient to many attractions and the airport.

Can't say enough about the staff at this Holiday Inn! Friendly faces and greetings that make you feel welcome. From everyone you pass in the hallways, meet in the gift shop, or main lobby---and then there's William! Ah yes, William,----no question too much to answer, suggestions abound for making sure your stay is eventful and fun!
Clean rooms, perfect wi-fi, pool, and other amenities more than sufficient.
Be aware that if you don't have a car, you must ask immediately upom arrival for the bus schedule. We didn't have knowledge of the local system until later in our 1 week stay, and could have saved a great deal of money spent on cab fare for trips to the S.D. Zoo, Sea World, Padres game, and USS Midway, just to name a few. Bus transit and trolley system is clean, efficient and easy to navigate.
Thanks Bayside Holiday Inn and of course, William!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mstrbaseman Holiday Inn San Diego Bayside
After spending two nights here, I can recommend this location with confidence. My room on the 4th floor was comfortable and quiet. The TV service had many channels in fuzzy standard definition, but there are hi def channels available. I had two delicious breakfasts at the Hotel's restaurant, and their happy hour at the bar offered free appetizers and reasonably priced drinks. The hotel is located just a few minutes north of the airport and provides shuttle service. I also got a complimentary shuttle to the cruise terminal which was appreciated. There are restaurants within walking distance and taxis are waiting at a stand in front of the lobby. The San Diego Trolley tour also picks up guests in front of the lobby. I would stay here again.

I stayed for 2 wks while on military duty and loved my stay at this hotel. The hotel and my room were always kept clean. Customer Service and housekeeping personnel were very accommodating. There was a small refrigerator in my room, which was very convenient and parking was never an issue. The cafe was a little on the expensive side, but there are so many restaurants in the vacinity, it wasn't an issue. I will definitely stay here again in the near future! I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Just what we expected...
The room was clean and the staff was courteous and helpful. We wanted a fresh seafood meal within walking distance and the concierge told us about a hole in the wall place a couple blocks away on the wharf called Mitch's Seafood on Scott Street. We had their fish stew which was great. I appreciated the lack of the inroom ac/heat units that are so ridiculously loud and blow air on the bed nearest the unit - we had one of those the night before in Pasadena's Holiday Inn Express.
There was very limited parking and a total lack of counter space in the bathroom - there literally is no place to put a toilet kit. I also would have loved to have been able to grab a quick breakfast of muffin/juice/coffee type of thing but the only option was a sit down meal which would have taken too much time. The bathroom light switch was hooked up to the fan which was loud so it was tricky using the facilities in the middle of the night without waking everyone else. It was crowded and we were on the ground floor next to the parking lot - lots of car noise right outside our window.

We have stayed at this property before and have been happy with this place. Down side is parking can be very tricky if you come back to hotel late in the evening. We had to park on the other side of Point Loma Cafe, which I did not feel comfortable doing but was told that there were security patrols on the grounds, which included the cafe.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DrRonS Older Hotel / Good for the right price
Older hotel, a few miles from downtown on North Harbor Drive. Clean. Staff good. No views. Nothing interesting in walking distance. Three miles from interstate highway, about 6 - 8 miles from Balboa Park (Zoo). About 15 miles from La Jolla cove.
Rooms may not be ready at published check in time.
Building a new lobby and additional rooms.
Really nice Von's & good Trader Joe's a mile away for grocery shopping.
Cut way back on Priority Club Platinum benefits. No free breakfast for platinum. No concierge lounge. Do offer a bottle of water, 2 cookies, and 2 mints upon arrival.
Recommend if offering a low price through Entertainment Book (or similar) rates as a place to sleep then leave early to see all that San Diego has to offer and return late. Stay elsewhere if you are looking for hotel with water views, etc.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by elhz Comfortable and reasonably priced
The positives - Mainly this was a comfortable place to stay. It has a good location and was a good value. The room was a nice size and the shower had good water pressure. The bed was comfortable. The heating/air was on a thermostat which is much more comfortable than those noisy units cheap hotels have in the rooms.
The negatives - the pillows were too thick and hard and when I requested softer pillows they were smaller but just as thick and hard. Also we requested a quiet room but although we made our reservations around a month ahead of time they didn't save us one. We were all the way in the back facing a road that was really noisy in the morning so forget sleeping late, but it was quiet at night. There was a nice patio but you couldn't keep the door open to get fresh air because there was no screen door. The wifi was constantly losing it's connection. It wouldn't stay on long enough to load a page or send an email. I talked to their internet provider who after a long time on the phone was able to get it stable the first night. The second night it was bad again.
All in all, I'd stay there again but bring my own pillow and my own wifi.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by carmen43 The worst hotel I have ever stayed at.........
I will not recommend this hotel to anyone and will never stay here again. The price is to high for the quality, I did not get the room I reserved, the food was horrible, the quality of the room awful. When they say complimentary breakfast (not true). What I paid, I should have received and I did not. This is not a family friendly hotel, I hade 4 children with me and they gave me one coupon for breakfast and I had to pay for the rest and the food i so not worth it. I am very disappointed with this hotel and will never stay here or in any Holiday Inn, not to mention that there was no parking available.....Horrible and very disappointed, I will have to take my business to another chain. Disappointed, very disappointed.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by roadwarrier Great Hotel - Need Staff @ Front End
We thoroughly enjoyed this hotel; it is located in a very convenient part of the city; close to amazing waterfront restaurants/board walk. Very pleasant setting and comfortable rooms. The one frustration is that the young man at the checkin was lost in his computer every time we approached him. He was pleasantly distracted. he needs to be trained to make eye contact and pay attention to the client; after all his job does depend on it - obviously a lesson he needs to learn.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Willi31 Practical location with friendly staff
Stayed two weeks in March 2013. Hotel is close to the airport, close to Sunset beach and not too far from down town San Diego. Nice pool area and good maintained facilities.
My room and the fridge were small. No microwave, Central AC was quiete noisy. Big central outside AC generator was making a lot of noise in the first room, but on request friendly staff gave me another room immediately!
Hotel is very busy already in March and there is a lack of parking space, espacially in the evening it is impossible to get one close to the hotel. Otherwise they got a good pizza place and other restaurants in walking distince.
Actually I expected more for the amount of money, but seems the whole area is quite expensive.
