Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by very good experience Pros - spacious room, good coffee in room, friendly, efficient & helpful staff, Nice gift shop/convenience items, good prices. Location was close to Asian Art Museum, Tram stops, Hop-on bus tours. Pool was clean and orderly. Safe elevator required key card for all floors. I left an item in my room and they quickly returned it for me. Many outlets available for use. Nice view from elevator lobby on our floor, see picture here! Cons - Bed was hard, tub wouldn't drain, no tissues provided 2nd night, restaurant severely overpriced as was room service, no view from room, TV remote very slow to respond, Refrigerator is extra nightly fee! Fitness center was a few treadmills, ellipticals, but no weights, shower nor sauna. Location sketchy at night, many homeless in the area. Pool area needs update/remodel. They charged FedEx to return the very small item to me, even though I am a Priority Club Member. No fan in bathroom for odor. Only 1 soft chair provided, should be 2. I understand I've listed more cons than pros, but it's easier to see what is wrong, I did enjoy my stay and would return to this location. October 21, 2012

Near Bart , Union square a few blocks away. Near theatre Dist . Easy to get around to everything, bus, Bart and Taxi service just out your Door. Only thing I wished for was a small refrig in room, I hate having to go get ice to keep drinks cold. Would stay again, central location, for walking to everything. October 19, 2012

I read previous reviews about the location and I didn't think the location was in a bad part of town, until I went to the nicer part of town and realized the hotel wasn't in the best part of town but it certainly wasn't bad. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Convenience and comfort We chose this hotel because of it's central location and ease of access to get around without driving in San Francisco. It is a half a block to the BART or any other transit services so even getting to and from the airport is convenient and there are numerous places within a short walk and since Market Street is also half a block it is easy to go anywhere else. The staff were all top notch, friendly and professional and could not do enough to ensure that we were happy and looked after at all times including housekeeping and door staff. The pool is heated and well maintained and very quiet considering it is outdoors. Even security is good in the hotel where a key is required to use the elevator to access your floor. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone to stay and it will be our hotel of choice when visiting San Francisco. October 16, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Room smelled like smoke and was dingy I booked an award night here, so thankfully I didn't have to pay, but wishing I had used my award points somewhere else. This was our last night in the area and we wanted to be downtown but with easy access to the airport. The first room assigned to us was next to the elevator and across from the noisy vending machines (I guess that's what you get for a free award night# and the balcony smelled like urine. I requested a room change and the Front Desk agent did move us a few rooms down #she was actually quite pleasant#. However, we noticed later in the evening how much the room smelled like smoke #perhaps it was from the guests next door#. The carpet was really dingy and needs replacing...looked like cigarette burns on the carpet. We didn't eat a meal in the restaurant but had a drink and snack in the bar area. The table wasn't very clean and the bartender and waiter weren't very pleasant. Plus it was hot in the bar area. I had a glass of red wine and it was served much too warm #from being left on the counter). Overall, I would not stay at this hotel again. October 9, 2012

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Most friendly experience ever! I walked up to the front desk and the employee was the nicest and most welcoming front desk encounter I've ever met. She was warm and genuine. I couldn't have asked for a better check-in experience. The rooms were nice, clean, renovated and adequate. Nothing to complain about. Everything was in working order. The neighborhood could be better, but its only a few blocks from Union Square, so its very convenient. September 29, 2012

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Do not recommend Terrible and dangerous location, and poorly trained housekeeping staff. Housekeeping would wake us up and knock on the door every morning at 8 am. The only time we asked for something (an extra towel) it took 45 minutes. Most importantly, the area is quite rundown and dangerous. As a Platinum member, I am extremely disappointed IHG even owns such a property. September 12, 2012

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Labor weekend in SF I have to say the staff was really nice, and the lobby was beautiful, and gave me the impression, the room was going to be as nice as the lobby. Wrong. It was just an average room, and I received an upgrade! I can't imagine how a regular room would look like. The plastics cups were completely a turn off, and the AC going on and off all night, kept us awake. I tried to open the window, and turn off the AC , but the outside noise, kept us also awake. So, at the end, we could not sleep properly on those 3 nights. I think the room is overprice, but the location is very good. As a priority member since 1989, I was disappointed. The hotel itself was fine - what you would expect from this class of establishment - cleanliness, comfortable room, attentive staff etc. We were however surprised - if not dismayed, by the surrounding street life. Having read reviews of other San Francisco hotels whose customers spoke of being afraid to go out on the street at night, we deliberately spent more on what we imagined was a hotel in a safe, respectable area. The immediate surroundings were full of homeless down and outs pushing their possessions in supermarket carts, or pulling them in "wheely" suitcases. Many of these were obviously mentally deranged - shouting to imaginary companions - or to all the world, and some begged or were mildly aggressive. We suffered no real difficulties, but this atmosphere spoilt our stay. We were surprised by such a "Third World" aspect of San Francisco only a stone's throw from City Hall! August 24, 2012

Some of the front desk staff has been with this hotel since my first booking back in 1999 when I joined Priority Club Rewards after they gave me an application. It's good to see familiar faces on staff each time I arrive and I appreciate their dedication and professionalism and attention. July 10, 2012

How can I accurately write a review on a place I visited only once 4 months ago? This is a joke... My review is based on very vague memory I have of the place, which isn't much at all.
