I like all of the upgrades that were done to the hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and relaxing. I like the blackout curtins, there great for sleeping in. The staff members are amazing, very helpful and friendly. Whenever I see Anthony at the front desk I know its going to be a great check-in experience. The hotel is very clean and in a great location. I highly recommend this property, its definitely worth another look if you have not stayed there in a while.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by jhaxCA A nice place to stay if reliable wifi isn't a concern.
We had a corner room with a beautiful view. The view was partially obscured by the dirty (exterior) windows, but it was nonetheless stunning. I appreciated the mechanical heavy curtains to keep out the city lights at night. The noise level on the street corner below was quite high. Typical city problems like an abundance of police and ambulance sirens at night, and honking horns during the commutes, were always present. The hotel staff at the front desk seemed stressed and not terribly friendly, but not rude, either. The room could have used more ventilation or a dehumidifier, as the windows interiors were covered in condensation for all but a few hours each day (and it took two full-sized bath towels to the point of being drenched to clear the windows in the mornings). The desk area in the room was beautiful, though the desk chair was a bit uncomfortable. I would have appreciated stable wireless internet, as the dropping of the connection every 5 to 10 minutes turned what should have been an office environment to be envied into an intensely stressful workday for the four 11-hour workdays I needed to put in while staying at the hotel. These connection issues continued despite paying a high fee for enhanced internet. For this reason alone, I cannot recommend the hotel for purposes other than pure leisure. However, if you are healthy enough to enjoy the walk down Polk Street to the water at Ghirardelli Square and Fisherman's Wharf, and enjoy finding small gems of city dining within only a few blocks of the hotel, and have no vital requirements for internet, then you will likely enjoy a stay at this hotel.

As soon as I walked into the bathroom I could smell of a wet dirty towel. I also thought the room had a stale smoke smell. I went out and bought a room freshener. The concierge was not very friendly. She failed to tell me about the tree lighting at Union Square that night. The next time I asked for info, the gentlemen that was at the desk seemed like he was doing me a favor by helping me out. Not a friendly staff.

wife and daughter were using my reward points. desk clerk and manager refused to serve them or check them in until I confirmed that they were ok. then the manager wanted to preach to me and them about what we "should have done" when making the reservation. apparently what we "should have done" is choose another hotel. if this is the type of service we can expect in the future, we may need to choose another loyalty program
