I was excited to be staying with a good hotel but it started off with the lady at the reception providing wrong information to the airport shuttle. I was stranded at the airport for 45 minutes. Finally when I arrived, the staff was helpful but unwelcoming and I had a feeling I was entering some dingy room while going up the hallway. Finally when I reached the room, it was clean but as soon as I sat on the bed it started squeaking. I switched on the free tv and there were only local channels and the internet that was free was terrible! The water glasses were unclean, no fridge in the room. The coffee maker had all dust as if it was not cleaned for ages. Upon calling for housekeeping for some clean glasses, I was asked to come to the front desk to collect those. Day 2 , The receptionist asked if I had a car reserved and if yes she could validate the parking. I told her that I will be picking up one later in the day evening and she could validate it then. She did not mention that there is a $10 parking fee ( did not know until I saw it appear on my bank account. There was no indication during my entire stay , I was not informed nor asked for any signatures, just debited from my account) when there was plenty of road side parking and my friend lived right in the next lane with a free parking spot available for guests. When I came back in the evening , the anti skid mats from the restroom were gone and the floor was left wet! tv did not work, wifi did not work and glasses were not changed. I think I would have been happier at a motel with a more comfortable bed, free parking, breakfast , friendly staff at a much lesser price! October 31, 2013

The closest was miissing half of the sliding door. Needed a refrigerator for insulin and none was available. The room was clean and the breakfast was exceptional. October 17, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by I guess it could have been worse, at least I got a bed to sleep in. So not the best yet no the worst experience. If I don't have to stay there again I won't, but if I don't have a choice a clean bed is all I ask. I was only here as all the marriot and hilton brand hotels in the area where booked. Stay started well, I was promptly picked up at the airport. The driver was very nice and a free bottle of water was a nice small plus. Got to the hotel and my key, head down the hall, up the elevator, down the hall again, inserted my key, the green light went off, but the door didn't open. The dead bolt was on. Tried once again to convince myself. This time heard a concerned couple from within. Turn around lugging my bag while exhausted back to the front desk, get a new key to an unoccupied room even though they swear to me the first was vacant. Get to my new room, iron my clothes for the next day, take a quick shower, reach for a towel and see a black spot on it. Look at the towel closer and release it is an ant. Try another towel and it seems to be fine. Get out of the shower and release there are at least a dozen or two ants in the bathroom once you start looking, yeah....Sheets are not soft and rather scratchy but they look clean and at this point that is all that matters. On the way out the hotel in the morning though to top my stay I stepped on gum somewhere on my departure as it wasn't there when I put them on in my room and I saw it when I reached only a few steps into the parking lot. So now I am battling getting gum off my dress shoes when I am traveling for the week away from home. October 15, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Been coming here for years I have stayed here for a long time, starting when they were a Wyndham. This is absolutely the best hotel for staying near SJC airport. The staff is phenomenal, particularly the front desk and bar staff. The location is great, the rooms and lobby have been completely updated, and the restaurant is even pretty good. They also have an airport shuttle. I absolutely recommend this hotel anytime you need to be close to San Jose airport. October 12, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Working ladies Overall, a very enjoyable experience. Great staff, clean, good service. BUT, the last day and night of our stay, the next room was occupied by a "working" girl. The noise started around 4 in the afternoon and finally stopped with a few hits on the wall around mid-night followed by 2 telephone calls. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean comfortable hotel with excellent service My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn San Jose-Airport when we came into town for our son's wedding. We found the hotel to be clean and comfortable. The lobby is spacious, but has furniture groupings that make it feel comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. Usually I sleep very poorly the first night somewhere new, but my husband and I both slept fine. The breakfast buffet in the morning was excellent. I especially enjoyed the crisp potato squares and the cinnamon-raisin french toast. The food selection was very good and it was very fresh, and included a lot of fresh fruit. Usually we get up early to get breakfast while it's fresh, but we found that the quality of the breakfast at 9:30 a.m. was entirely as good as the quality at 6:30 a.m., because they keep bringing out fresh food. The wait staff at breakfast were extremely attentive, serving coffee and juices. We have never been so well waited on at a buffet (our previous experiences at other hotel breakfast buffets have been more along the line of "go for yourself."). The fitness room was very nice, pleasantly painted, with mirrors, and very good, health-club quality equipment. Although we didn't swim, we did sit outside in the courtyard, which was quite pleasant. We also didn't use the airport shuttle service, but it was one of the reasons we picked this hotel. I would not hesitate to stay here again. It was an excellent experience, and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only thing I didn't like was the volume of the TV in the hotel lobby. It was louder than I would prefer -- but that's just me -- I like things quite. October 3, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by close to SJC airport The front desk personnel were friendly and very accommodating. Although the standard room may have been newly renovated, it had no refrigerator and I felt cramped. I was then assigned to a Suite where the room was enormous I guess housekeeping has a hard time going over the door handles, etc because it had fingerprints on it and the refrigerator was full of ice that I couldn't fit anything on the top shelf. I guess I will continue with bringing my Clorox wipes. But all in all, I slept well and arrived at the car rental and airport in plenty of time since it was extremely close to the hotel. . . Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 San Jose - Airport The bathroom and room were not clean. There was a leak in the bathtub which caused water to spill all over the tile floor. The property charged me between $5 and $10 each time I left the parking area. There was a big sign by the front door advising guests to validate their parking. When I asked the front desk, I was told that I didn't qualify for validation as overnight parking was not included in my room rate. Would have been nice if someone had told me this up front before I wasted $25 more dollars. Also, I have never stayed at a hotel (and I have stayed at many# where breakfast was not included. In this case, I saw numerous guests around me give their tickets to the server. I paid an additional $18 #including tip) for a mediocre buffet meal. I have stayed at Holiday Inn properties in the past and they were good. I am not sure what is up with this particular location, but the physical plant and staff could use some brushing up. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not this time I come every year for an event, but this time the air conditioner did not work properly, the lighting around the mirrors are terrible and you can't just turn on the bathroom light as it is connected to the dressing area/sink. Not a good idea if someone is sleeping and all the lights come on. The food service in the bar is terrible because only one poor sole is trying to take care of everyone. The food in the restaurant is so so, and the coffee stinks. And it never changes. But the staff is very helpful and friendly which doesn't really make up for the shortages in the other areas. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by room was fine, service left a LOT to be desired To start with, the front desk folks gave keys that didn't work to my friend when she checked in. She went back downstairs for new keys, and when I arrived a little later, she met me in the convention center and gave me a key - which also didn't work, necessitating another trip to the front desk. We were at the hotel to attend a convention, and every moment was precious, so the time we spent walking down hallways, waiting for elevators, and waiting in line at the front desk in order to get working keys was frustrating. The most aggravating experience, however, was when I called the front desk late Saturday night - late, as in around 3 a.m. - to request a late check-out the following day. This hotel, with its multiple messages of "please let us know how we can make your stay more pleasant" and "we are here to serve you" refused my request. I was told that there were strict orders that NO late check-outs would be allowed for Sunday, and if I wanted to discuss it, I would need to call the manager in the morning. Well, my roommate and I were busy Sunday morning, and didn't have time to take this issue up with the manager, so I am taking this opportunity to take it up now. The convention I was there to attend was a yearly West Coast Swing Dance convention, called the South Bay Dance Fling. Typically, there is dancing until very late at night (or very early in the morning, depending on one's perspective), if not all night long. Other hotels that host these sorts of conventions make allowances, such as automatically granting late check-out to all attendees ("late" meaning, 2 p.m.). I sincerely hope that next year, this Holiday Inn will consider extended such service to attendees of the South Bay Dance Fling. It's a small thing that would make our stay considerably more pleasant September 4, 2013

Good value and close to airport, hotel shuttle staff were friendly. Lobby was nice, clean. I'm a travel agent who was traveling on business and needed to overnight for an early flight the next morning. Suggestion, would have been nice if they had provided coffee and a pastry or donut for very early departures. September 4, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Parking lot gates a problem. While I appreciate the location and facilities, the newly installed parking lot gates caused two problems. We had a park and fly reservation. Since we arrived at the airport after 11 pm, we had to take a taxi to the hotel (we got reimbursed by HI). The driver didn't know he could get a 15 minute pass, so he had to drop us off on the street. The front desk said he should have known. How would he know?! There was no obvious signage by the street. The next day I tried to exit using my parking ticket, and the machine indicated a $135 fee! So, I had to hold up traffic in the lot while I went to the front desk to get them to open the gate. The Holiday Inn really needs to improve this situation. August 28, 2013
