Carpets were dirty and worn, ice machine didn't work on ANY floor. Closed the pool on a weekend day in July! Hot tub was substandard (jets didn't work well at all). I can't say anything good about this hotel except the rooms are large. Hotel staff was accommodating...not friendly, but accommodating. VERY overpriced for what we got and will stay at other hotel chains before we stay with Holiday Inn again. Keep driving!

We've passed by Santa Maria tons of times as we are usually hurrying to other destinations for vacations and family visits. But this year we had business in the area and opted to stay here instead of rushing by.
The property seems to have had a recent upgrade and sprucing (perhaps 2-3 years ago), the staff were friendly, and the property clean.
We used the pool and found it heated, suitable for our kids to enjoy, and easy to locate. There were ample towels to use and had easy conversations with others guests who were traveling with their families.
We'd stay at this property again and recommend for folks looking for options other than San Luis Obispo or Pismo.

Property is great and in good shape. Staff needs training on customer service, or perhaps there is just not enough staff.
After a long day on the road I was standing checking in; desk clerk began process and then took an incoming call and spoke with person on phone for extended time. She should have put caller on hold and finished with me.
At breakfast the following morning we were among the first people in the restaurant at 7am. We needed a minuted to look at menu so our server walked away and dis not return for over 15 minutes. There was a banquet that needed setting up and no one was in restaurant to provide service.
After we got our order and we finished we waited again over 15 minutes and no one was in restaurant to take out payment. I left my name and room number and left the restaurant. The server called and was upset that we left without paying.
I would not recommend this hotel specifically for service issues.

We had a good five nite stay and would return because overall value was good. Staff and service very good. For example, missing cooking utensils were immediately provided upon request.

I have never written a review before and am not a complainer, but my recent stay at this Santa Maria Holiday Inn was so disgusting, I am compelled to warn others to avoid this property at all costs!! Poor service, dirty room, filthy carpet, unclean toilet (gross!), non-functioning shower, broken vending and ice machines, and the list goes on! I travel regularly on business and pleasure, and this hotel was simply the worst I have ever experienced. I went downstairs to complain about the room condition and was forced to wait over 5 minutes while the extremely unfriendly front desk lady ignored me with her head down and talking on the phone. A simple smile and acknowledgement of me standing in front of her would have sufficed. After finally getting around to me, I explained my extreme displeasure to her. The response I received was she would make a note of my concerns! No apology, handed me my room receipt, and did not care! Holiday Inn's has lost me as a customer.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Hot water would be nice
The rooms are in serious need of updating. Looks like it's been a long time since they were refurbished. The biggest issue, however, was trying to take a hot shower. The mixing valve was malfunctioning so It was impossible to get anything but a tepid shower at best. When I reported it to the front desk at check out, they said they would have engineering look into it, but that was it. They didn't seem to be particularly concerned or surprised, and they didn't offer to make it up to us in any way. I thought there was supposed to be some sort of Holiday Inn satisfaction guarantee, but nothing more was said or offered. I wouldn't stay there again.

Reservation was for a non-smoking room - Got a smoking room
Reservation was for a king bed - Got a double queen room.

We took our two grandchildren on a three day trip and could only get Holiday Inn in that area on the last night. We saved the best for last. Room was great, kids loved the pool and the kids had both breakfast and dinner free. Service was excellent. Thank you so much for treating us so well.

Booked in January for our granddaughter's June wedding on the beach in Oceano, because rates were substantially less and the drive to Oceano was less than 25 minutes. Upon check-in, and getting to our room, the door was propped open and someone had been into it, somewhat unnerving. Returned to desk, they then assigned us to the room next door. We were still somewhat uncomfortable as we entered the 2nd room, but it appeared to be alright, nice beds, huge bath, and a kitchenette. We found it odd, that the reservation was for 4, but towels and kitchenware did not support that many. We requested additional towels from housekeeping, and shared bowls at breakfast. The grandsons with us enjoyed the pool over the three days we were there. Our room was surprising quiet every night as we were away from the highway. The AC was somewhat difficult to understand, and when we needed some air during the night, we had to turn on the light to work the controls, awakening the boys. Santa Maria had all the shopping we needed while there, just a couple of miles south. There was a 7/11 down the street, along with a CVS and a couple of fast food places, Overall a nice property, good location, and fair price.

The property itself was decent. The staff at the front desk was friendly. I like cleanliness! This room was dirty! The bathroom door was filthy from what looked like years of dirty hands touching it. The bathroom sink wouldn't drain properly so it would fill up pretty fast. Couldn't even wash hands fast enough without the sink filling up with water. There was a dead beetle bug on the floor in plain sight. No one saw this when they vacuumed? Or did they even vacuum? Oh! We had 2 dirty towels in our bathroom and 2 dirty pillow cases with smudges of make-up or something on them. Keep in mind that the beds were nicely made and the pillows were set neatly in place and the dirty towels were neatly folded and hung as if they were clean. I had to request clean towels and clean pillow cases from housekeeping just before going to bed. It was actually pretty disgusting. Since we were only staying one night, I offered grace and didn't complain. I prefer not to stay at 3 star (or less) hotels. We paid $148 for one night. That's pricey for a 3 star hotel. We've paid $200 per night (tax and other fees included) at 4 and 5 star hotels and it was well worth it! I'll stick to the better hotels from now on.

Excellent staff, friendly, competent, helpful. Ideally located, freeway friendly, plentiful parking. just stayed for the fifth year in a row. Will be back again next year.

I believe my regular room was used so I got a room across the hall. The AC/heat control wasnt working on the wall, but it was working on the unit. Other than that was excellent as usual. I enjoy staying here when on bussiness.

Housekeeping friendly helpful and great customer service...
Front Desk...Lacking. Not friendly, no eye contact and the guy that checked us in did not answer our questions and then said he would connect our 2 propiorty club cards but didn't, did not want us there.
Then we returned because our key did not work and the girl just hastily re coded it, again like she did not want to deal with us. She did not even check our ID she had no idea if we stole the cards.

I called and the man at the desk did not think that they accepted the entertainment card but I found out later they do. The room was and bed was comfortable but the shampoo and lotion were half empty so it made me think if the G.R.A. put half used things out for the next guest are the sheets I just slept in dirty and the towels,There was also food stuck to one of the coffee lids so I didn't use it. I stopped by the front desk and asked to speak with a Manager I was told everyone is in a meeting so Amanda took my info and wrote it on a clipboard and I was told that the Manager would call me when they were out of the meeting. 2 days later still no call. If the Manager doesn't call back when a guest leaves info then they just don't care which is how I feel. I did speak with Danielle and she was very helpful with a. log on issue

The room and area were excellent. It housed my family of 4 perfectly. Also when our TV wasn't working, a maintenance man was sent and he arrived right away. He was very friendly and prompt.

In addition to being shabby and dirty we had to call maintenance twice for a 2 night stay. The television, for which reception and channel selection is poor, was so tentatively wired it would not turn on. The plumbing is so bad that when the family above us bathed or showered our kitchenette sink would back up and water poured from the fire sprinkler in the bathroom. Apparently they are aware of the problem because the maintenance man was only not surprised when we called, but stopped at the floor above us before he came to our room. And, while not the hotel's fault, the commotion in the hall outside our room at 3:30 am, which turned out to be a bunch of loud low-lifes and 2 police officers, the hotel staff on duty did nothing to control or resolve the issue. The very outdated equipment in the fitness center doesn't work properly. And, oh is that air conditioning in the room or an airplane engine - they sound the same.

This use to be a great hotel that we have stayed at many times through the year. However, each time we have stayed it has gotten worse. The room has hair from prior use in the bathroom and in the kitchenette area. The rooms (each that we have stayed in) has had a bad odor that the last stay they had to leave odor spray in the room for us. The kitchenettes are no longer fully stocked and we always have to call for supplies to cook and clean with. The last 3-times we checked in we were treated badly when our credit card didn't go through. When we called the company they informed us that the employee inputted the expiration date wrong. So, the declined card was always the employees lack of doing there job correctly. At one point they (hotel staff) asked us to leave our room because of. We went downstairs to find out it was the hotels fault. I would no longer recommend this hotel to stay at. However, the restaurant and staff are always kind and the food is good. The bar area is always nice, clean and the staff there are kind as well.

This is my second time stay in this hotel, the first time the front desk was ok but the second time they were not that.....I was the only customer at the check in and wanted to ask few questions about the hotel and she seems very busy and not answering anything....bad customer service!

This has been the nicest Holiday Inn I've been to. I travel alot for work and room and staff were all great. On my forth day a bus load of teenagers showed up, but they quickly got them to thier rooms and I never heard them again.I had a few issuses with the door card and they fixed it right away. I will be staying here again on my next visit to Santa Maria for work.

I arrived at 4:00pm. At 6:30pm, a strange man used a key to enter my room. To his defense, he was equally confused of what was happening... but as a female traveling alone... I was confused and SCARED! I immediately called the front desk to tell them they just gave a complete stranger a key to my room, to which the gal said "I don't know what happened, I just game off a break." No aplogogies. No, attempt to ensure my safety. I asked for the manager on site, to which I was told there was none. After I suggested she figure out what happened and call me back... she called me 10 mins later, and said, "We checked two people into the same room, but it's OK because we got his keys back." No attempt to make me feel comfortable. I told her I wanted a new room, to which seemed a total inconvenience to her. 5 minutes later, I was brought a new set of keys, but was not offered any assistance in relocated rooms, nor was I offered anything else as a compensation.
The next morning, I asked to speak with the GM of the hotel but he wasn't there (8:45 am). He didn't call me back until 6:30pm that evening because he "was busy."
In the meantime, I called Customer Relations, and was offered $30 for my inconvenience. INCONVENIENCE!?!?! As someone who travels frequently, I had the worst experience I've ever had. It's a safety issue, it's a system issue, it's a customer service issue, and it's a training issue.
Keep in mind, the manager didn't offer me any compensation. He just said he was going to fire the front staff member.
