The hallways on both floors look like they have never been cleaned or vacuumed. Probably a nice place back in the 70's but in need of updates desperately. We could not let the kids on the balcony because of the loose, rusted railings. The restaurant had a children's menu but gave us buttermilk instead of milk in two glasses. Then they said they were out of milk. The table was never wiped and the sticker was still on the tomato on the burger. The managers were pleasant but the place is run down.

As always when I travel to Sarnia, I stayed at the Holiday Inn. I stayed at this hotel for six nights on this occasion. The front desk staff were exceptional and communicated well with each other so that, no matter who I spoke with, the other staff members were aware of any conversations and requirements for my stay and ensured that my stay met my needs. The rooms ( I had to change rooms partway through) were clean upon arrival. The housekeeping staff were pleasant and ensured that the rooms were well-stocked with towels, toiletries, etc. and clean on a daily basis. I wasn't able to enjoy all of the amenities and events on-site but the indoor pool, outdoor pool and exercise room looked great. The outside property is well-maintained. I just wish that I had been able to attend the local food and wine event that was held at the hotel.
The breakfast buffet was reasonably priced. It had a variety of standard buffet food (ie. bacon, eggs, sausages, fried potatoes, etc.# as well as a wide variety of fruits and other healthy choices.
The location is great. It is close enough to walk to under the bridge #for the famous French fries) or to walk on the numerous trails in the area.

This hotel overlooks the bridge between Ontario and the USA. The rooms are spacious and the staff friendly and caring. Our room terrace overlooked the "seasonal" pool. We did not eat at the restaurant, but it had a delightful appearance.

I had a very pleasant stay and received great service. The amenities were clean and well maintained.
The only issue I had was with the TV service. The guide card provided did not match the channels provided on the TV and changing channels was so slow.
The other issue I had was the directions on how to get to the Hotel after passing through Canadian customs provided on the website. The exit suggested is closed by a gate.
Just providing this information to make my next stay a little better.

Great, friendly staff, the room was comfortable, and the pools and hottub were a great bonus feature. Great location, close to the bridge and downtown. They gave us casino vouchers as well. Only drawback was the sticker shock on the dinner menu... $40 a plate??

Enjoyed so much booked to go again later this year.,

We held an event at the Sarnia Holiday Inn and we spent the weekend as well. Geoff in event planning was very helpful and knowledgeable. All the staff from the front desk to maintenance and housekeeping were friendly, helpful and very professional! We made a lot of requests from the staff and all were met quickly and efficiently !While i did not get a chance to visit Bridges, the catered food at night was well presented, hot and very tasty! The rooms were very well kept, comfortable and extremely quiet! (There were 2 large events taking place that weekend) Thank you all for a job very well done!

I like a great deal of people were at this property for a lacrosse tournament and was shocked to find out your restaurant did not open until 7:30 am on the weekend... My son and I had to rush to get to his game on the Saturday morning ... when I went to complain what I got was a "so what" kind of attitude that "the restaurant opened at 7:30 am.... deal with it!" Well I dealt with it, I never went to your restaurant again the rest of my two night stay...

It was the attitude of the front desk staff that convinced us to switch hotels for our first visit to Sarnia. They were willing to accommodate our early arrival and even provided adjoining rooms without being asked. The staff in Bridges restaurant in the morning were super and again provided services that we never imagined. Overall the best decision we made - will definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

Was in Sarnia to attend a friend's wedding and stayed at the Holiday Inn overnight. Check-in was a breeze and took less than a minute. As I was getting ready for the wedding I realised I forgot to pack a tie. With less than 3 hours to go I asked Matt at the front desk (same person who checked us in) directions to a nearby store where I could buy a neck-tie. Instead, Matt went to the office behind reception and lent me a tie for the evening. Saved me time, money and the day. I was impressed what the level of care and customer service I received. Our room was on the top floor, clean and very spacious. Would definitely stay again next time I'm back in Sarnia. Matt is a great employee and asset to this Holiday Inn.

We`ve stayed here before & it was very nice...but this time was so much better. The room was excellent...incredibly comfortable bed!! The best part, however, was our dinner at Bridges! We had the Tasting menu...4 of the most delicious tastes we`ve ever enjoyed...absolutely outstanding...and the presentation was beautiful!!! Many compliments to the chef!!!!

The food was not very good.
There was no microwave in the room so we called and they brought one up. When we came back to the room it was there. Very dirty inside and out. Very disappointing.

I have stayed at the hotel many times in the past and have had a couple of problems but overall not bad for the money. This time was the worst. We were in the wing with all of the hockey players, mini sticks were being played (although I was told they were not allowed to play mini sticks in the hallway). Kids were noisy. We had to call the front desk at 11:00pm to ask them to tell the parents to quite it down in the hallway. This was not the first time security had to come to the floor for the same problem. There was a dead insect on the bathroom vanity so not sure if the room was properly cleaned or not. Will likely try another hotel in Sarnia as we visit about once every 2 months.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by dism Check if there is a team staying at this hotel before booking
We booked four rooms at this hotel as we were attending a family wedding. We booked the rooms well in advance. Our rooms were ready when we arrived. We were all on one floor. As we made our way to the rooms, which were not one next to the other, we realized that there was a young boys team of some sort staying there. The boys were playing mini sticks in the hallway and the parents watching. Our rooms were in the middle of the game, so we had to step over many bodies to get to the rooms. This went on until we left for the wedding. In the morning they were playing in the hallway and batting the ball around by 9 am.
My question upon check out was why we weren't all put together at the end of the hall, away from the boys instead of scattered amongst them? Answer was that it was "hard" on weekends when they had teams in and that they were "sorry". That was it.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Mamajanet If you plan to sleep, don't stay here!
My stay here was terrible. The halls were filled with kids playing in the halls until the wee hours of the morning. At 12:30am I had to break up a hockey game in the hall where the kids were using my door was the goalie net. Finally after 2 hours of complaining, security was dispatched at 1 am to break up the games and screaming kids. In the morning I complained again during checkout to the front desk clerk who was aloof and not concerned that my stay was terrible. I spoke to a male guest who complained about the noise (they were across the hall from me)and he stated that the front desk removed all restaurant charges as an apology. I guess females are treated differently as I was basically told that's just the way things go.
Besides the above, staying on the second floor the elevators are located far away from the rooms or the front desk at check in. You have to lug your baggage a long way or carry it up a flight of steps.
I will never stay or recommend this location to anyone.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Felice Holiday Inn Wedding
We recently attended a wedding at the Holiday Inn Sarnia and stayed for two nights.
We enjoyed the wedding. From a guest's perspective, everything seemed to go well & the food was very good.
We ate breakfast & dinner in the dining room. The food was excellent & service friendly and efficient.
However, the hotel isdesperately in need of refreshing. Although I'm sure the maids do their best, this is well beyond anything a maid can do. The general condition of the room was faded and grimy. The sink was chipped, windows filthy & there was no screen on the operational window. Pillows smelled. But perhaps the most unsettling situation was the condition of the blinds beside our table in the dining room -- caked with dust and grime.
On the basis of this, I would find it difficult to recommend the property.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RickyRoo Good all around with a surprise extra.
We were a little nervous when we drove up because the outside of this place seemed dated and maybe not terribly comfy looking. But inside we found things to be very warm, inviting and hospitable. The staff was great -- friendly, efficient and quite positive. The room and bed were plenty comfortable, and we couldn't believe how quiet it was! We couldn't hear any noise at all from Bluewater Bridge, even with our window left open. Very relaxing. But the surprise was the restaurant; the food was wonderful! There were fresh and very healthy entrees of fish and poultry -- our preferred choices -- but good looking beef dishes, too, along with lovely salads and desserts, all with gorgeous presentation. THIS is a NICE restaurant! Our family ate with us a couple of times here, and they were thrilled that we (visiting from Oregon) had found for them a great "new" restaurant in the area! Quite nice overall.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by PKKerr Odour in room / frayed towels
May 29, 2013 - I was assigned a room in older area of the facility (#113). The room had a funky smell, the shower curtain smelled must and one of the bath towels was frayed.
To be fair this has not happened in the past. The not-recommended rating is harsh but cleanliness is a ticket to the hospitality game in my mind.
The staff - as always - are friendly.

Hillary at the Front Desk is excellent at making you feel welcome and comfortable. The Chef for Freighters Lounge/Bridges Restaurant is awesome; best food I have had in a long time. The hotel is very clean however the hall carpeting in the older section needs to be updated. I was a bit disappointed that the Suite we booked did not have a sofa; there was only one lounge chair (no where in the room description did it mention the booked room as a Junior Suite). Overall we were very satisfied to stay at the Sarnia Holiday Inn and I know hotels; I am high level with a competitor (we just do not have a facility in this city).

Just some feedback on the facilities. Staff seemed very pleasant. Our room was not so nice but adequate. Our friends had a much nicer newer room in the tower. Had we been told there were newer rooms we might have chosen to stay in them; however, the individual who book our stay on the phone was in the Philippines and probably wasn't aware of the hotel particulars. This is one of the problems with out sourcing a call center so far away, unless you can perhaps make sure they are aware of all these details.
We had a nice view of the golf course.

One of the nice things about the 'Holiday Inn' as against the 'Holiday Inn Express' is the ability to order a breakfast. To me, this is an important part of a hotel stay and helps make the stay better. For the cost of this hotel the value is good. I would be happy to stay again.
